I can't emphasise just how strongly i feel about this film. In an age where we're bombarded with wave after wave of weightless, CGI-flooded superhero films, The Batman feels like a breath of fresh air. It all feels so real and driven by artistry and not solely corporate profit-chasing.
You can tell that everyone had so much fun making the movie, they’re fans of the characters. It’s a joy to watch Matt direct too, he just seems like a kid in a candy shop
I’m amazed at the scale of everything. I’ve been an extra in a couple of independent, smaller budget movies before, and it felt a lot more intimate. I can’t imagine being in something like this, it’s crazy. It looks like fun, but the size of everything (the sets, the huge special effects, the HUGE number of extras and characters involved, etc) looks and feels intimidating. Just the thought of being in Matt Reeves’ shoes directing this thing is just incomprehensible. I couldn’t do it. Hats off to him.
I love how they not only took inspiration from just the comics, but also from the past live action batmans and even the videogames, like Colin farrell even mentinons the Arkham games
@@MildMisanthropeMaybeMassive The full quote being "I am vengeance. I am the knight. I am Batman!". It's also kind of horribly twisted out of context in this film, to the point where it's saying something very different.
There's another Featurette with the behind the scenes footage of the Car chase of the Penguin (The wrong way chase) on the Freeway, nearly all of it was practically done with pod driven cars with the Stuntmen driving them from pods on the roof of each car (So that the Actors could focus on their acting and not have to worry about the driving) and the Semi's had rear axle steering so that they could get the butt ends of the trailers right out as they were really Jack knifing, (Some Semi's actually have Rear Axle Steering to help the drivers steer them get around corners easier) I think it's on the HBO Max RU-vid Channel and it shows so much of how they made the chase part of the Film and make it look as realistic as possible with real Action footage instead of CGI, which although it has made Films cheaper and made some amazing scenes possible, its started to make it harder to believe that some of the scenes were filmed using real vehicles driven by real people......
I’m like 99% sure that was a mannequin. No way a real person could do that. They wouldn’t be able to breathe. Shooting a scene takes multiple takes (we’re talking hours to up to a whole day or multiple days for one scene here). It has to be a mannequin.
@@Gongolongo idk if I have bad taste for movies. MoS was okay. It really needed consistency to make it better as a whole interconnected movies in their attempt to copy the success of MCU. You know the rest how it went. Too bad shit happened to these movies.
As a huge batman fan, this is the most comic book accurate batman and Matt and the crew and actors fully understands the mythos. This is my favourite superhero ever. Can’t wait for the sequel
This movie is basically a live-action version of a Batman graphic novel and I loved every minute of it. Really stoked to see, what Matt Reeves and his team will come up with for the sequel.
I laughed when I heard Zoe say that Roberts jaw line was identical to the comic book version of batman. Because that's exactly what I said when I seen the movie, Robert is the closest looking actor in the bat suit than anyone who has ever played batman. And for someone like myself who cherishes anything batman, this was a real treat for the hard-core fans of the comic book series. Great work guys and gals 👏
Paul Dano deserves an award for the Riddles, he was truly frightening.. Making a movie is very challenging to downright exhausting. Thank you Matt Reeves for Tha Batman.
@@plasticweapon that's pathetic. What seems amateurish about this masterclass of blockbuster cinema? The gorgeous shots, haunting music, character driven storylines?
I’m really glad they showed a behind the scenes of the train station fight at 17:05! I always wanted to get a closer look at the choreography and Batman’s moves in that scene
As a MASSIVE Batman fan. I hold my Batman movies to a high bar, and this film went BEYOND my bar. My god. To see Matt, the crew, and the actors understand and know the myth and stories of Batman. I'm the happiest Batman fan in the world. This film was the most comic accurate Batman movie EVER! It's my favorite Live Action Batman out of all the Batman films. I am beyond Hyped for The Batman 2! In Matt, I believe!
They already did Spider-Man (2002) Spider-Man 2 (2004) Spider-Man 3 (2007) The Amazing Spider-Man (2012) The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014) Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019) Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)
MCU Spidey is the most accurate live action adaptation easily and the first trilogy is for kids. But yes, I hope we get a Kraven's Last Hunt/Death of Ultimate Spider-Man in a mature gritty thriller drama like the Batman. MCU gets overhated after endgame because of bandwagon but nothing touched the Batman but Daredevil and Jessica Jones.
for me, this is by far the best live action Batman film ever made. truly incredible. I absolutely loved every single second of it. can't wait for the sequel. fingers crossed we get a villain never before seen on the big screen
I've heard that Matt wants to go back to the Comic Books for the next Villains, Crocodile/Gator Man, the Joker portrayed as someone who has a degenerative disease from birth, the Scarecrow and the Ventriloquist/Puppet Master who is so twisted because he was once so lonely and Shy that he lived through the Dummy/Puppet that he used to make a living from as a Comic Act, but his psychological/Narcissistic Sociopathy leads to him either thinking or pretending that the Ventriloquist Dummy is a real person who Bully's him into Committing Crimes, I've heard of "Haunted Dolls" and Puppets but this particular Gotham Criminal would be headed for the Arkham Asylum for the rest of his life if he was a real person
"Underneath the bridge, top has sprung a leak and the animals are trapped, they've all become my pets." Something in the Way is the Riddler telling us he was gonna flood the city, and none of us picked up on it. It was a spoiler hidden in a soundtrack. The song was his final riddle. THAT is how brilliant this movie is.
This film means so much to me and seeing the crew demonstrate how to make a movie during a pandemic was inspiring. This is my favorite Batman, Matt Reeves and Robert Pattinson understood the assignment and produced one of my top 3 superhero movies of all time. This movie will stand the test of time. The suit, car, and sets were perfect and the Riddler has never been better. I've watched it 4 or 5 times and I still really love watching it. Practical effects and confidence in your director are the keys to a good comic book adaptation. Making the world feel real and having characters with character archs are imperetive as well and this movie nails it all.
This movie feels very personal and thats why I love it so much. Seeing them actually having fun making this puts the biggest smile on face. This IS my favorite movie
Over the years I’ve lost interest any Batman related media. After seeing this film, it was a breath of fresh air. I really hope we get to see more of Matt Reeves’s work. Hopefully we get more heroes like this.
I have been obsessed with Batman and the world of Gotham City since I was 6yrs old and my dad took me to see Batman '89 I'd never been more excited and confident of another Batman film (any film really) than with this; and that all started before one frame of a trailer was shown. Hearing the vision, along with the amazingly talented crew made me beyond excited. Then the trailer came and everything I had imagined and hoped for was unfolding with just a small percentage of the film being teased. Can't wait to see what's next🦇♥️
sammmmmme lol. not obsessed though but i was there in eighty nine and ive been a big fan even before that lol. im 43 and about to watch lego batman which surprisingly, is incredible
I've was more intrigued by batman growing up but I really fell in love with the character through a re-watch of animated series, brief moments he would appear in young justice, the brave and the bold and the batman animated show. He also embodies everything I love and is a character I always come back to. He's my end all be all.
I'm really glad to see that Matt took the Detective Story approach which was missing in the previous films and I don't think any grounded villain has ever terrified me more than Paul Dano's Riddler.
That's a good point but am a nerd so I always thought that his movement was caused by his injuries and years of brutal training. That's the weird thing about film man, it's all interpretation and personal experience. What made you disconnect from the film, somehow made me connect more with it more haha
@@GoofyGoober690 I always love talking with people like you because my perspective was completely opposite. That’s cool 😅 And I think like that too but the earlier films had so many fast cuts and you barely see any of the actual action. But on that same ticket I’m a humongous fan of John wick, So I was very excited to see that style of Batman fighting you know 🤷🏽♂️
facts but that’s not bales fault they had the choreography like that. also i still can’t believe he was only batman for a year or 2 in the dark knight trilogy out of 10 years
This movie felt like you just started a video game. Like you have to start from this and eventually grow into a ridiculously strong character. I hope this character gets more than a trilogy, I hope it’s in DC. I hope it’s done right. Matt Reeves needs to be there at all times.
You can tell that this is a film that was put together with pure passion for these characters. Matt Reeves is through and through a Batman fan. It comes off in every page of the script, and clearly every frame of the film.
Rest in Piece Kevin Conroy 🕊️. You made me fall in the love with the character of the Batman when I first played the Arkham Games. Ever since then I have been obsessed with the character and for that I forever respect you. Fly high Kevin.
Same. I hope James Gunn will also go for the same theme for the DCU Batman like Matt Reeves with his version of Batman, where they did a classic noir detective story & how it felt like everything literally came to life from the detective comics.
This movie means so much to me. It's a reflection of the place I grew up in and the issues it faces. It is also a movie I can watch time and time again because of its narrative prowess and its beauty. You can tell the people behind this movie love and respect the characters.
I loved Batman since I was a kid. In my 40's. Is it possible to be addicted to a movie? Still can't stop thinking about it. Great movie making is still alive. Seen it 4 times. Everyone did an amazing job. Robert, the little intricacies of your Batman say so much. It makes sense now that you all took how Batman would walk into a crime scene seriously, and was D@mn well executed. Left me wanting more. Please don't stray from this formula. The comments on these videos from my fellow Batman lovers is proof.
i'm just glad that they finally addressed the fact he is wearing eye makeup, instead of ignoring the fact. in every other Batman film, the makeup magically disappears when he takes the cowl off.
In the era where there are already plenty of short edited videos, we need more of long duration movies. The Batman is perfect, three hours spent well, immersed into the world of Batman. 👏🏻
@@iamtrillahdYou realize most great movies out there are at least 2 and a half to 3 hours long right? Runtime does not determine the quality of a movie. It's the writing and the direction that counts. Most people here would prefer a great 3 hour batman movie than a trash 2 hour batman and robin movie.
Thanks for posting this, movie is a tad expensive on blu ray and digital, so i appreciate this. Its free on HBO MAX, and Im glad it is, I love this BTS, it feels like an old school behind the scenes actually seeing shots get filmed, building the sets, etc. Its not just actors sitting in a chair.
It's a blessed day for me already. To have such a wonderful thought from my lovely fans like your kind. Thank you for sharing your strengths to me through all of your supports and care🌹 Where are you streaming from?
Soon 40 years of life i am. Movie freak and Batman fan since i was very young. This is the greatest movie i ever i saw. Movie perfection. A true masterpiece with an amazing soundtrack!
I love comic books, I love superheroes from all companies but it's Batman who time after time rises to the top. From the age of three I became obsessed with the character and never wanted to be anything else but Batman. I always wear my batman costume for parties and cons and sometimes just to feel strong. I remember being 6 or 7 and my uncle rather spitfully told me I couldn't be batman because he wasn't real and I sat silently with tears in my eyes and I heard my dad's voice over my shoulder and he said "yes, you can be batman.." "you can stand for everything batman stands for and that is more real than anything in this world." so I live by those words and if you read this small insignificant comment I want you to know that you can too. Don't give up on yourself or the people in your life, you can be a force for good for every other human being on this planet, that's what makes real heroes. And if something is wrong and it comes to push you down. Don't ever think you can't push back, because you can. Most people in the world today would encourage you to be selfish, not think of others don't be a hero. But if you are still reading this you know how wrong that is deep down. I'm telling you to be a hero, separate yourself from the chains of ignorance and the next time you find yourself watching something awful happen weather it's elderly woman falling on the street or you see someone getting hurt by others. Do whatever you can to help even if it's a small thing it could end up saving a life. 🦇
FINALLY, a movie made by people who actually care and put in their all. I wanna hug all of them for creating such a masterpiece. The best Batman movie to date. Thank you Matt reeves and Robert Pattinson and everyone else who was involved.
You can really see how much the actors, crew and Matt enjoyed working on this movie. They really did their research here and I can't wait to see what they do with the sequel
I can't explain how much I thought this was gona flop when I heard Robert Patterson was gona be batman and was shocked how much he reminded me of the comics and he absolutely smashed it
What a great production from the start to finish you can feel how they passionate about their works love how they used the background the practical effects, the script all of it, is so good to see. Matt reeves really executed his own version of the batman movie its really ground breaking. Great one hour of this bts production!!💯👌💞
In other batman movies when he took his mask off he never had black around his eyes. That always made it feel less convincing. This is the first batman where he takes off the mask and you can see his black makeup. Makes me feel more in the world with just this little detail.
Seriously, I never thought I'd say it, but this is the best batman film today. The Dark Knight was a masterpiece, but I felt like that was a Joker Film more than a Batman film the way the Heath stole the show. This was the best Batman film.
I never really looked at the backgrounds of the different movies i've watched but I actually felt like searching up the backstory of this movie cause it was so good Thank you Matt Reeves
@@lordsnow8438 that's just your asinine opinion. And much like yourself, it doesn't matter in the slightest. The vast majority of both audiences and critics absolutely loved this film. Because it's incredible. If you like the plot-hole ridden garbage that was the dark knight trilogy better than more power to ya. But that's all it is. YOUR opinion, and nothing more. You see film is art. And art is ENTIRELY subjective. Therefore there is no objective standards of "better" or "worse".... only what people LIKE, what people THINK, is better or worse. You think the absolute cringe-fest of the dark knight is better, with it's ridiculous growling bat voice and a Batman who is weaker than a 12 year old girl, and I think the absolutely perfect The Batman is better. Can't believe I had to explain to a presumably grown person how art and opinions work, but it is what it is.
@@davidmutchler2403 that's nothing more than your asinine opinion. Art is ENTIRELY subjective, guy. Your opinions aren't fact. There is no"best" in a subjective medium. Just personal preferences. And for me, the Batman is a masterpiece and the perfect Batman film and the dark knight trilogy is plot-hole ridden garbage, with atrocious shaky cam jump cut bullshit "action" scenes, a insanely cringe, laughable growling bat voice, and a Batman who is weaker than a 12 year old girl. Hey if you like that trash, then more power to ya. But don't come around stating your personal opinion as though it's fact. It isn't. you do not speak for everyone, especially life long Batman fans who wanted an actual faithful adaptation for the first time on the big screen.
Movie of the year it feels so diffrent than most superhero movies its such a good change superhero movies caan be so much more than just good guy vs bad guy
This is the only Batman movie I've seen that really captures that feel and mood of the best stories like Hush, Long Halloween, Year One etc. It's clear they put so much love and consideration into making that happen.
batman is my favorite superhero and i legit love most of the films they've made about the character. just keep that in mind when i say that this legit the best live action batman movie ever made. reeves, pattinson, and the entire crew just get batman better than any live action film the character has ever had. well done guys. well done.
Absolute fucking masterclass of a film. I'm on board for as many of these as you guys can make! I grew up with the original...I don't now if it will ever be beat but this is up there with the original and for me, that's incredible. The Nolan movies were special but this was something different. I've seen the Nolan movies once each. I've watched this film 4x now and will watch it again and again moving forward. Please give me more!
Watched the film six times so far in my view it's probably the best film of the last ten years. Repeatability is what I judge a film on to become a masterpiece and stand the test of time. This film as that potential!!!... Hope to see the 4hrs cut someday
