The Louisiana Amberjack season is open and its time to fish them from the depths. Amberjack are known for their extreme fight and incredible strength. It doesn't matter how tough you are this fish will try its best to wear you out. Strap up the gloves because its about to be a fist fight getting these fish to the deck. The Amberjack had been getting away with it for far too long down in Venice Louisiana. It was time to stack the freezer cage match style. Mid AJ season, A much needed break in the Southern winds and sea state led to a quick three man limit offshore fishing on the rigs down in Louisiana. Powered by nothing but Voodoo Rangers, Bud Light, Coors Light, Copenhagen and 100% pure American willpower we started working the rigs looking for live bait in the form of hardtails, managed to pick up a nice Bull Red, but wasn't our target, once we found the bait we hunkered down, and caught as much as the baitwell could hold. We were marking large fish on the sonar so we decided to rig up the live bait and cast them into the gauntlet. Luckily the live bait gauntlet came in the form of AJ'S and not sharks. Another awesome fishing trip hunting for giant amberjacks south in venice la. Venice has amazing saltwater fishing and outdoors things to do. Load up some penn rods and reels, and head down.
