For me getting up really early to visit St Marks square is way better than later in the day. We went at 0600, apart from the street cleaners there was one guy , a German taking stereoscopic photographs. We stayed for a good time really taking in the views without the crowds We followed the cleaners as they left. They dont eat breakfast in the tourist areas . The cafes they use are a fraction of the price and the food is brilliant Unlike the rediculously over priced squares coffees etc
