Its wide availability of means of transport is one of the reasons why I love Venice and its surroundings

Excellent video! Gotta love Translohr (jk)

i am not shure whether i like that system... on the one hand it is mass transit, on the other hand it still has the disadvantages of rubber tires (fricton, increased maintenance)

Definitely has pros and cons - one major pro of rubber tyres is better gradient tolerance, which is useful on some of those motorway sliproads!

Paris also has these rubber tired mistakes on two lines.

The TVR was a mistake, the translohr isn’t….

The PeopleMoover is a bit of a waste, as a better alternative is to take a Vaparetto boat, from direclty in front of Venice SL Train station, in about 10 minutes, dropping people at the same spot the People Moover stops, Tronchetto (where there is a big parking lot and all of the long distance buses leave from). Otherwise, if walking from Venice SL Train station, one must walk up and down over a long bridge, for a good 20 minutes or more, not luggage friendly, and keep walking further, and find the People Moover station at the Piazzale Roma area, taking people to Tronchetto. And the PeopleMoover doesn't start operating on some days like I believe Sundays, until 8 or 9 A.M., which is not convenient scheduling for many.

It’s like an inverted Safege, also, do you have any travel plans (after cov, of course) to visit any Asian transport systems?
@DavidFrankal

Nothing on the immediate agenda, no. Though one day I would love to visit Thailand, Hong Kong and Japan.

I know Gareth Dennis is not a fan of these but for tight curves and gradients they are a better solution than a conventional tram. However trams first where possible.

I would bet there are not many people who have rode more trams in different cities than me but I would love to know how many you have done as I imagine it's right up there

I think I've been on 36 different systems now

@@DavidFrankal I knew by your videos you've been on more than average that's for sure. You're young enough to do everyone in the world if you choose too

They should extend the tram to the airport and the people mover to the railway station
@DavidFrankal
@DavidFrankal 3 года назад
Piazzale Roma is already very close to the station (just across the canal). I don't know how they could extend it any closer

@@DavidFrankal Aren't "Piazzale Roma" and "Ferrovia" basically the same station? I mean, I get that you can technically get a water bus from one to the other, but you can also just walk across a very short bridge. There are a lot of "main stations" in the world where a much longer walk to the subway platform would still be considered "within the station" - just because it is open to the air shouldn't invalidate that. In fact, the public transit maps of venice seem to reflect that by making Ferrovia/P.le Roma basically one transit hub that just has two main exit directions...

The Translohr is a viable system,not like the TVR witch has gone out of production

So it's not a tram, not a bus, not a trolleybus either

Certainly waggles around like a poorly constructed tram or articulated bus....
