Sir at 27:26, How minimum value of B can be 0. In question its mentioned that everybody will play atleast one sport. If you make B=0 then B is not playing any sport.

Since there’s no restriction that there has to be at least one student who plays only hockey we can assume that all the students playing hockey at least play two sports hence number of students playing only hockey (b) = 0.

Ek doubt hai, question had mentioned rest are playing atleast one... Understood the point that there is condtion for any particular sport that atleast 1 playing hockey there min value of b would be 1 but in question they have specifically mentioned at least one sport and since b is playing only hockey if the no of students playing hockey is 0 then they are among 69 students. Min no of students playing hockey shall be atleast 1?

Because it is greater than 17 which gives us 18...had there been a sign of greater than equal to... Then it would have been just 17

Can anyone explain why we have taken minimum value of student playing hockey (i.e., b) to be 0 and not 1? I am getting confused due to the fact that this vien diagram represent only those students who are playing atleast one sports (i.e., 460-15%= 391) and therefore value of b should be atleast 1 student.

b represents students playing only hockey which may be zero... It is given that all students play at least one sport

Because set of 460 is the universal set. One of the subset is students playing zero sports.

a+b+c+d = 123, so even a,b,c can be zero and d=123 , the statement can be true. imagine you call all the 391 students in a hall and ask them why no one enrolled in cricket , all the 391 students answers by saying " sir you said that all ous of should include ourself in 1 game why should be it cricket we dont like cricket we like hockey , u said we need to be in 1 game right, we are not in cricket but we are in someother games. 😂😂😂 i hope it explains

See.....b just represent a number.....if b= 25...it represent no of students playing only hockey.....but in Question it is nowhere mentioned that atleast 1 students should play only hockey/cricket/TT etc so we can take minimum value of b = 0 for "a" to be minimum :) Thankyou 💜 so much sir 🙏🏻

B can be 0. Considering B as 0 means that those 180 sts. are playing hockey with another sport and no single student is playing only hockey

The minimum value of b is 0 because we have already excluded 69 people who do not play any sport and the remaining 391 people play at least 1 sport doesn't matter if they play only hockey or hockey along with cricket, TT, and Badminton. Even if b is 0, there are 180 people playing hockey as Hockey= b+180 The person who does not play hockey might be playing any other sport(Cricket, TT, Badminton). Let's consider there are 10 students in a class, and there are 2 games cricket and hockey, and each student should play at least one of each sport. 5 students play only cricket and 5 students play cricket and hockey both. It doesn't mean that "only hockey" can't be 0. All 10 students are playing at least one of each sport and nobody plays only hockey. I hope this helps.

@@chiranjibbaruah7300 basically it doesn't go with the reality check facts. Think it like, as when we say something like for ex: "we can fail at at most 1 subject", that means we can still don't fail ( at zero subjects ) and also at 1 subject. which is simply less than equal to 1. and it's certainly not exactly equal to 1. I think I can make this clear to you.

Can someone explain this question using chocolate distribution strategy ? In a college each of 200 students in class is a member of at least one of the three clubs A,B,C .80 students are member of A , 90 students of B, and 100 students are member of C. Q. If 25 students are members of only A then maximum no of persons who are members of all three clubs?

460 is the total less:-15%(playing no sports)-69 We get 391 less:-the values which are given(leaving the a,b,c,d).We get the value as 268. So,391 Less:-268 Equals=123 (Value of a+b+c+d) Hope this helps:)

@@lornemalvo2171 I already bought plus subscription on 18th April, and completed around 300 sets on LRDI and almost 250 Hours Quants... ye comment jab maine kia tha mujhe pata nhi tha sir unacaemy me pdhate hai.. and I am lucky ki main sir ka plus student hu pichhle 6 months se :D
