The poor mapping on that KIB omni would put me off paying the $150 US price tag. I’d definitely opt for the Venom omni if I had to choose. Thanks for the early preview Gem Mint!
"Anyone in their mid 30's" 😆 Indeed these Venoms is where I would start! The extras look awesome. (I am a sucker for the world building extras. I.e. Character bios, in world newspaper clippings etc.)
I asked Marvel support in August about the release of the KIB omni. They replied last week and told me they had no information about the release date. My dude Gem knows whats up. Thanks! So excited for both of these books.
tbh i see value in collecting both! the venom omnibus will give you the full run of the venom donny cates line which is important. The king in black omnibus gives you kind of the world building of the event with the event as well. I have read a good portion of donnycates run leading up to this (I think I am on issue #20 of 34) so I can see myself buying the venom omnibus to finish the line plus get into some of web of venom and king in black. Reading king in black will give me that completionism satisfaction of fully completing an event lol. I would probably read venomnibus first though and then king in black
hey, not a big comic fan but a huge Venom fan, well its pretty expensive for a book so i had some queries. Can i directly jump to KiB from Venomnibus? and does Venomnibus suffice the storyline for Venom?
@@thedarkknight095 venomomnibus is a good starting point for venom and from there you can go to king in black smoothly. Only thing is there is overlap between the two so be prepared for that
@BUGSMACKER! but will there be a story from the beginning to the end. I hope I don't have to read anything prior or after to Venomnibus and KiB, respectively, and what this "mapping" people are so angry about in KIB? And how relevant is Absolute Carnage in between these 2 books
I have the Venom omni on PO and I was debating about the KiB omni but wasn't sure on the double dips. After you're review I'm thinking on gettin on both now 👍🏻
Thank you. I have venom and absolute carnage. I have a chance to get king in black for 80 but now that I see they don't put the tie ins in order, Im good. Can use that 80 for another omnibus
Been out the game for bit. This is the latest vid of yours I've watched in awhile. Enjoyed it very much so! Especially since how I've been saying how most of my comic reading will probably come from completed books (such as omni's). I have three I have to finish reading now, but venom/king in black are definitely on my wishlist.
Probably already been mentioned but those alternate covers for the Venom book were actually changed at the last minute. The DM cover is now issue 1 of Venom which makes no sense to put that as the DM and the standard cover as issue 1 of KIB. Had I known this I would have preordered the DM cover originally. I’m going to sell my standard cover for my preorder price and put that towards getting the DM cover.
Yea I noticed that and luckily managed to cancel my order and got the DM variant. It should have been the standard. Hope you get to get the cover you wanted!
Oh man, I _LOVED_ this Venom run, and been looking forward to the King in Black omni too. I think I like the King in Black DM with the All Black on it. I might have to preorder it to make sure I can get one. I want both, but I have all the Venom OHCs already but only a few of the tie-in trade paperbacks for King in Black, so that one's priority for me. Wait... Does the Venomnibus have the War of the Realms Venom stuff in it (Venom 2018 #13-15)? That's weird to me if it does.
I remember reading through absolute carnage omni and I had sticky notes all over it. Why can't they map these? Super annoying. But ive been holding out on my venom trades til I got this in. Excited to finally read the event.
You're both correct about the sequence of the chapter mapping I do wonder why they can't just map it out then sell it as like a complete epic chapter by chapter. No one is going to enjoy jumping around, especially if there's no index or indication on which chapter you should read next.
@@xjosuedavidx yea they could've at least put in a reading order in the front. Would be less annoying. This is a fat book too. Its not physically gonna be fun to read.
I own Absolute Carnage tpb and Venomni is 200 pages smaller so I feel like I should go King in Black. Maybe try to pick up D. Cates run in store t.p.b. on sale. When it comes to the reading order, Ill look up a list when I open it and go flip through the book once putting paper thin book marks with numbers on em. #1-#40 or w/e. Yeah its annoying BUT I will admit that it does have a bit of the old school "issue hunting" feel that it took to read events in the 90s.
Wish you'dve lined up the scoop with the Absolute Carnage Omnibus too to show the double/triple dips. Also would've loved to see the binding on those two.
This venom omnibus why is the cover the cover to king in black issue 1 is there a separate cover to this venom omnibus? The king in black omnibus is badass tho
King in Black mapping is a total turn off. Did they map it properly in the Venominbus? I have most of the issues but jumped into Venom around the time of Total carnage so I'm getting that one to read the beginning of the run and re-read the rest.
Just to clarify, do I get the full story with the venomnibus (meaning Ill understand the event from start to finish) or would I need the event omnibus to be able to properly experience/appreciate the event?
I own the Venomnibus. I think they did a great job including everything you would need to understand the event. If you own Venom issues 1-35 then I would get the king in black but otherwise, Venomnibus is the way to go!
With the Venomnibus, you'll get everything from Donny Cates' run, so you'll be able to read from start to finish in an easy and straightforward manner. You don't need the Absolute Carnage omnibus or the King in Black Omnibus as they only include the mainline issues of their respective stories, as well as the Venom comics that are tide to those stories. These are all included on the Venomnibus. The other omnibuses include all the tie-ins and side stories that are not included in the Venomnibus. So, if you want to read them, then check out these omnibuses. They are not necessary to get the full story of the Venomnibus.
Not a fan of the mapping of the event Omnis. Why bother with an omni if the mapping is no different than just stapling all the tpbs together. I think I'll stick with the venom Omni and just get tpbs/singles for the tie ins that interest me.
