@@JustinsCollectionI wish you could have measured him with Andrew and Tom spider man because they never fought him yet. Along side with carnage because he serves as a match .
In my opinion, I like that this Venom is given a more realistic stature compared to Hardy’s version. Early comic art depicted the symbiotic being skin tight, the bulk came from Eddie himself.
Every time you make a review on Thunder Toys I can’t help but adore their figures. Yes they are not perfect, and definitely not on HT level, but there is a lot of love and effort put into them, kinda like a homemade dish made by your loved one. Fantastic review Justin!
Venom's voice in the Spider-Man 3 video game is actually different to what we got in the movie. In the movie, it's just the actor making his voice slightly deeper, but in the video game, it's the same actor, but his voice was altered to sound like a low-pitched demon voice (and people actually like it and wish the movie used it). Venom's design was also changed a bit in the video game; he's a bit bulkier and his face was less reptilian-looking.
Growing up watching spiderman (especially spiderman 3) this design of venom became my favourite so this figure looks AMAZING to me, especially that venom head. Great review and great looking figure
I agree, the design itself is really, really nice. He got to keep the webbing, but they look meaner, and he also got to keep the boots. It's a more interesting design than just the slick, all black with the white logo, which is very clean and iconic in a comic book, but would look strange and too simple in a movie. If only he was slightly taller and had the deeper modulated voice...
The head sculpt was amazing and it detailed with perfectly for Eddie Brock. Justin you were so lucky dude to have figure like this for your collections
Looks great I just think that they made the venom head a little too big I don't know what it is it just seems a little too big to me but love it all the way around
Fun fact: Venom had a different death in Spider-Man 3. Instead of Peter pulling Eddie Brock out of the symbiote, instead he ends up pulling a skeleton which had a venomized skull indicating that the Venom symbiote had killed Eddie
Well, that's the general gist of it, but there is WAY more to it than that. 1. What existing footage we have of this ending was never meant to be used, it was only ever shot as reference. 2. As Venom is ready to stab Peter with the pole, Harry flies in between them, sending his glider flying off. Peter makes a tuning fork out of another pole to make more noise in order to disorient Venom. Venom, unable to control his reaction to the noise, accidentally impales himself. This makes the symbiote ditch Eddie, thus leaving his deformed skeleton behind. 3. It was cut due to budget constraints. Shots like in the church scene were kept in because they were pivotal to the plot. Between the original death and the final death, the final death was cheaper and served the revenge story better. 4. This ending and every other deleted scene from the film can be found in the Spider-Man 3 novelization by Peter David.
@dericjames2018 As MarvelSonicFan04 stated, we do have the novelization, though it's rough to recommend a book these days given how hard it is to find someone who wants to read. Though I am working on a personal mini comic demonstrating all of this...with MINOR changes.
I wonder if Hot Toys will make Venom from Spider-Man 3. I am curious, even though I'm very disappointed with how Eddie Brock and Venom were portrayed and handled in the movie.
I think Topher should've been in NWH. It's the only Venom that makes sense to fight Tom for no reason, Hardy's venom would only fight Tom over the Red Hood and Batman reason "Killing's wrong and corrupts you vs Only way to protect the innocent" But Topher would've just fought him bc he could
Thanks! I agree with what you said about Thunder Toys they're getting super good with their releases, also I like displaying mine with the Eddie headsculpt for me I appreciate his expression and character even if you've to squint a little to see the likeness haha @@JustinsCollection
Man Justin Happy new year too you sir, first great review and i was looking forward to this video. Now that i have my venom on the way, i cant wait to have my onto my shelf. Thanks bro
I know you might think this is just a random comment. But from my brain, The black suit Spidey logos should involve from the raimi venom's logos to the how the venom logos on Topher. I meant it like, the more the Symbiote evolve in Peter especially from bright to emo (bully Maguire) , the darker it get, the more changes on the logos. To the Venom's logos comic accurate. What do you think about my big bren idea?
Idc what anyone says. Topher Grace Venom goes hard. Omg the shape of the lenses on that headsculpt are amazing and the glare on them wow. The emblem and webbing; perfection. Do wish the butt and legs had a tiny bit more bulk to them though; upper body too.
his legs aren't that tall, its just the hip and the stomach making it look long, i tried comparing them to other figures while u were doing the comparisons
Die-hard Raimi fan here. The spider logo is indeed 100% accurate (this figure is pretty much 1:1 to the movie in terms of accuracy). Although, there were differences in the promotional material and the final cut, which is why it might seem not screen accurate. Promo version Venom's spider logo is bright white like his eyes, and its legs were shaped in a way that seemed "rounded" whereas the final movie version's has that gunmetal/silver color and straight look. Another minor difference between his promo art and the film version is his color. In the promos, the texture of the symbiote has slight shades of purple, and even the 4 inches line of figures is made in dark purple plastic (like Ultimate Venom, which served as the main inspiration for Raimi's and Topher's Eddie Brock), while in the movie he doesn't have these purple tints and is pure black instead. As for his legs, they are exactly in line with Topher's body shape, as his fingertips end at about 1/3 of his thighs. Overall I think Thunder Toys absolutely nailed this Venom and blows Medicom's version out of the water.
Excellent review! "Never wound what you can't kill" 😂 I think the best Venom that's been made is the Bullet Head one which I'd like in my collection one day
I really enjoyed this Venom figure review. I needed a fun review today. Yesterday I had to say goodbye to my 12 year old golden retriever and I’m a wreck over it.
I don’t think it’s the legs that are the only issue, proportionally speaking.. I think that’s also part of an arm thing, seem just a touch too short. Palms should be close to/end at mid thigh
Amazing job, my only personal issue is that his thighs are too thin compared to his upper body imo, this guy needed some of that Hot Toys Superman legs lol
Thunder Toys is putting out some good stuff. I recently cancelled my Hot Toys Tobey pre order. It just had far too many inaccuracies for me to justify paying 300 bucks. But I’m considering getting the TT Tobey and customizing it into the battle damaged look from the end of SM1
Argh, I can’t find this guy anywhere that doesn’t cost over 300 dollars AU. I was gonna ask if you’re thinking of selling him but I think I already know your answer after watching the review lol Do Thunder Toys sell their figures directly?
@@JustinsCollection idk I’d love to own one but $300 seems way too steep for an unlicensed figure. 150 more and I can pre order the deluxe Hot Toys Black Suit Sam Raimi Spidey.
Glad to see you review this, I think this might be the only time I make a review before one of my favorite channels. To answer one of your questions, yes, the spider logo is 100% accurate, though the figure itself is 99.9% accurate. I'm saying this because this design wasn't finalized until late in production. The suit Topher wears still has the original thin and spindly logo, but production slapped a new and comic accurate version over that one later. So in some shots of the film, it's clear he has two different spiders. And to me, the proportions are perfect. If you have a fullscreen copy of Spider-Man 3 and look at Eddie as he says "My spider sense is tingling", you'll see his proportions are on point. If anything, his legs might seem long because he needed a bit more bulk in his shoulders, traps, and pecs. And while his tongue didn't get this long in the film, it certainly appears that it can. There is a slightly extended shot as Venom roars in Flint's face where we can see it sticks out a tad more, this can be seen in the Sony Imageworks VFX breakdown. And the shot where he roars at MJ for dropping a cinderblock on his head, as he turns quickly, we can see the force of his turn makes his tongue fly out at a longer distance.
This figure looks amazing! The Eddie Brock headsculpt is not bad but here he looks too crazy like a Green Goblin would be. His Eyes needs to be half open. I remember him being more arrogant in Spider-Man 3 and the half opened Eyes would be help the look i think
