imagine the strip being wrapped around the heart the ecg is showing the literal pathway of the conduction. so for example your leads ll/lll/avf show inferior aspect electrical conduction, lead l/v5/v6 show the lateral aspect, avl shows high lateral, v1/v2 show septal and v3/v4 show anterior aspects. so for example in some STEMIs you will see a reciprocal image on other leads as the electricity travels or gets blocked and you can see it from different aspects
