Another thing i have learned that works really good. Is to make your Venture cheap. It means you have to run from everything (0.3 system). But almost nobody pays attention to you. running Teir 2 miner lasers, 1MN micro drive, and thats it. Its a 350k 400k build. And everytime i make a haul its around 4.5 to 5 milion.
I saved up, finally got a procurer, put some drones in it and strip miners, and I went to Uplingur (0.4 security) to mine some Kernite. I only have ever seen low level AI pirates, so I didnt think much of it. All of a sudden, I got warp scrambled, then a fleet came and killed me. Most disappointed ive been in awhile
I would use a shield booster and a warp core stablizers with some shield expanders cause you can have the ore if your dead and you can heal back quickly
Looking in ship traits the Venture already has a role bonus of +2 warp core stability, doesn't this mean it basically has 2 stabs built in, no need to put extra on it.
Great video, it will help a great many miners to take that scary step into Low Sec or Null Sec. When I'm up for some mining danger, I grab my favorite Transport ship and load up my Blockade Runner with my Venture, and equipment. This gives me two things, I can transport my ores without having to waste time dead heading with the Venture back and flying my hauler back to get my ores. I fit with a covert ops cloak so the gate campers can suck a big one as I warp past them.
Aligning, but then stopping your ship, has no efffect on warping time... just letting u know ;) . A prealigned but iddle ship takes exactly te same time in warping that one who is not prealigned
I like it. I used to take a hauler to near a gate system, with a couple of packaged ventures and all the gear for them. Assemble and mine until you get caught, then assemble another. Now I use a Propect because of the cloaking and bigger minehold. Unfortunately, my old mining systems are now overrun with gankers. My biggest problem is finding newer, safer places to mine. Keep up the great vids!
That's a good idea. I've been trying to mine some in losec but I get caught everytime just as I'm in the middle of mining. They are on me before I even see them on dscan. I have seen some sentry drone on dscan that's it
I have a slightly different option once you have some more skills (and assuming you have an Omega account) - The Prospect. It carries no arms, but it has such a small signature that the rats can't hit you once in orbit around your asteroid. It has a cloak, so you don't even have to dock up if someone comes hunting.. just maneuver clear and wait them out. I usually have something able to kill the rats in system with me, so if they get too annoying I have options. This ship was one of three in the Nomad setup I used to use. [Prospect, Ore Prospect] Mining Laser Upgrade II Mining Laser Upgrade II Overdrive Injector System II Damage Control II Medium Azeotropic Restrained Shield Extender Survey Scanner II Multispectrum Shield Hardener II Covert Ops Cloaking Device II Modulated Deep Core Miner II Modulated Deep Core Miner II Small Processor Overclocking Unit I Small EM Shield Reinforcer I Jaspet Mining Crystal II x1 Pyroxeres Mining Crystal II x1 Kernite Mining Crystal II x1
I like the build, it is very much like what I have been doing. Except the other day I was mining in 0.4 low sec when a single rat popped up. I had my 2 hobs out. I never thought I could get one shotted by an NPC. Mordu's Special Warfare Unit can not only kill you but it can attack you from 1000 km away. So just a heads up, beware not all rats are easy to kill, and some apparently play in God mode. Great video +1
Wow, I've been watching EVE videos like crazy since I started playing last week and this one is top-notch. The audio: fabulous! The content: on-point! The editing: perfect! I'm definitely a follower.
I bought the BPs and built 5 of these (sans rigs) to test them out. The MWD is going to cost you any advantage and ability to run once you are scrammed. Be that by a player or an "event" NPC. Speed is this little fella's tank. With a speed tank fit (with MWD) even frigate rats in 0.1 struggle to hit you. I speed tanked a 3 BS 2 FG 0.1 rat spawn for nearly a full bay until I bumped into a roid and a BS volley landed a little too well, lost my sheilds instantly and had to warp. The same for any solo combat ship without a web/scram. The AB will allow you to retain nearly a 1km/s orbit velocity when scrammed if not webbed. That's pretty hard to hit and if you manage to run in a straight line long enough you might exceed the point and warp out. That said, a single well landed volley and you are dead. If you get webberd you die. Honestly though. If/when this ship gets webbed, it dead anyway your sheilds just make the show last about 3 seconds longer. On grid, safe spot bookmarks with a close return (perches) are very wise. They give you a quick safe spot with a quick return so you are more keen to use it the instant local goes +1. It gives you a place to align to (a station or proper safe spot), get up to full velocity and wait for DScan or something to pop on grid. Remembering someone could warp in cloaked and approach you. So stay fast and aligned. Don't make it easy. As long as you don't fly right off grid, you can instant a warp back on grid. To spare bordem while safe, play with the DSCan and see if you scan spot where the +1 went or what they are flying. As a 10+ year capsuleer. The game play is far more intense, more adrenaline etc. than High Sec L4 missions. However. With a T1 mining frigate with a 5000m3 ore bay, even with T2 miners its going to take you half an hour at least to fill it. Mining something easy to find like Omber or Jaspet will only really net you 1.25Mil per bay. If you find good anomolies sans-good rats, that might double. Even maxed out in something like a Gniess or Orche anomaly I think it tops out about 5 mil an hour. You still have to consider the haulage factor. Haul safe each ore load = costly in time. Reprocess local and haul the minerals = better. You still need to haul it though and the Venture will not accept minerals in teh ore bay. So while it defenately good income for a first year pilot, it won't sustain a 10 year pilot. I still returned for a hard day of L4 mission blitzing with a pair of Domi's MJD+sentry+remote reps (the later for when you can't be bothered MJDing but one BS gets all close range agro). For L4 mission income levels C1 WH gas huffing might be a better option. I am going to mix things up and go up to a retriever. However I am only doing so bared on years of intel on location, system layout etc. The 37,500m3 bay fills in about the same time as the venture fills it's bay, but holds over 7 times as much. I am hoping it will fill a Viator hauler with minerals in one days/evenings play. Depending on how often local goes +1.
Nice video, will show to newbro in my corp who wants to mine. 1 thing about that checkpoint in the AIR program - you actually get a whole load of Kernite to mine just for you in the career agents system during a career mission. No need to go to low for that.
Great guide, I've been following this advice and now every time I log in to play, I start my Eve day making one trip into 0.4 space to do one ore load of Omber, about 4mil isk. The first time I got killed, I was too panicky to press the warp button in time, but I have learned that now, and can escape ganks. Sometimes the belt rats drop a 4-mill item, which is a bonus. I have once had a clone soldier turn up and had to swap ships but I was able to kill it in a Tristan blaster with drones, 1 mill isk bounty, and a 1 mill isk tag. It's another string to my Eve bow, so many thanks, keep up the guides.
Thank you for the video. Had alot of fun tonight low sec mining. My last trip a Loki decloaked right in top of me and bumped me. I jumped a mile but got away o7
Very good video, I learned a lot from it. Im a new player, less than a week into the game so far. Subbed to the channel and looking forward to diving into more of your content.
I use a Prospect to mine with a nice agile fit to get away quickly .I live in Derelik the low sec systems are deserted most of the time I can spend hours without seeing anyone in system
@@lorumerthgaming If you have max skills for the Prospect you can pull in a decent amount even better with a Porpoise boosting you as I’m sure you’re well aware sir.
@@lorumerthgaming Takes forever when compared with the Covetor. However, if I get ganked, my loss is just 3% of when I lost the Covetor and I've already made about 10 times the Venture fit, so will keep going with it. TY for the video!
Did my first low sec mining today with a buddy. The fit for our venture went great. 2 rats came outta nowhere while we were playing with the map and mining. The shield extender I pushed our shields so far that the poor rats couldn't do anything but chip away at the shield that felt like a turtle shell while we sent out our little hornets and kept mining. When our mining hulls were full we both skidaddled with no damage cuz the shields were just too thick for those 2 rats to get through :D Our first mining mission in 0.4 low sec for kernite got us 3.5 million each and 2 rat kills.
Still enjoying your videos. Only change I would have made to your fit is instead of the EM rig would use the Field Extender rig instead. And would equip a salvager in that empty high slot if an alpha.
You can find Jaspet and Hemorphite in high sec, but your fit is good in any case. I prefer a low-sec mining rig with a Covert Ops Cloak whenever possible.
I learned from experience that gatecheck simply doesn't work, didn't even record my own death. Looking up kills on the route in Dotlan is much more useful.
this is so helpful :D i had no clue how to deal with the npcs cause my hobgoblin did nothing. I kept scavanging after someone already killed the rats and got a good 3.6 million isk in a couple trips but this will be a lifesaver since I don't have a team
i've lost 2-3 ships in low sec. just find a calm system(no pipeline jita rens, etc) and get to known other capsuleers in that system. in chat "hi fellas" go long way... finding a calm system is a worth few ships.... then null sec dorp and rest is uptp you
I have recently started going into wormhole space with a venture, close to jita, and then finding rare asteroids, do a trip, then grab the ret, and get a big gulp and try to make it out. has been fun!
Thanks for these fits and quick discussions about how to do things. The only thing I would add here (and you kind of do) is that when low sec mining you need to be paying attention, not off making tea. ;)
You can get all the kernite you need for the air career program from one of the career agent missions. In high sec. Obviously not an option for getting it regularly but it means you can avoid low sec for the air industial career program.
@@lorumerthgaming watching your videos made me start an alt account so I can go to High sec again and do some of the things like lvl 4 missions very nice isk in low sec but sometimes it gets tiresome
Yo, if someone needs help on how to mine, you're saying things they will absolutely not understand. You're talking about scans, alignment, etc. if people know all that, they know how to fit a venture and where to take it.
Time has nothing to do with the fact that CCP has promoted ganking on EVE and now has made it even easier for them to gank new players . They have been sabotaging the game sense they knew they was selling out to another gaming corporation. And as far as D scanning gose it makes no difference if someone wants to gank you in EVE they will end of story .
First of all I been on EVE for 5 years and have never been able to to do low sec mining due to gankers . New players can not do low sec mining due to gankers they target.new plays because there easy to gank . Unless your in a larger corp your nt going to be able to do low sec mining and even then its not easy .
@@lorumerthgaming I just re-did the test to make sure I'm not lying to you. I have four mining alts with the exact same skills flying the exact same ship and fit. I warped all of them to a random safe. Then I aligned one of them to the only jump gate out of the system. Then I aligned the other three in random directions by double-clicking into space. At least one of them was flying almost exactly away from the gate. Then I stopped all four pilots and waited for a minute to make sure their velocity was 0. Then I fleet warped all four to the jump gate. All four entered warp in the exact same second, all four shared a warp tunnel, and all four arrived at the same time. edit: re-did the test 4 times to be sure. same results.
