Venture to Iceland. Part Two. Faroes to Iceland and Return

This video documents the second part - Faroes to Iceland and return to Southampton - of a journey made aboard Venture II in 2012. The footage has previously been uploaded in short segments because, at the time it was shot, You Tube restricted the length of videos to under 10 minutes. Hopefully this longer format will provide a better feel for this exciting journey.

Gratitude comes to mind Tony. Truly it is a Documentary ! Camera work of the highest order. Features of land and nature, with flora and fauna, along with the weather. Shades of light and the colours; so subtle; even Venture II was glowing in different scenes. You caught the power of Dettafoss - Wow is that ever impressive. What a crew ! What a journey ! God and HIs Angels keep you safely on future journeys.

I enlisted in the Navy to get a taste of the sea and spend those 6 years in the North Arabian Sean. I am not 70 years old and landlocked in Orlando. I always think about returning to the sea even buying a trawler and spending the remain of my life bouncing around the Caribbean but being married and not wanting to leave her I stay landlocked. I watch this journeys and dream that I could be there. I believe I would have my seal legs, but I would not have any other value except as a passenger. These videos keep my desire at bay. I am not sure how much longer these will be created, but I hope they never stop.

Truly fabulous to be able to share your experiences in this way. I have no sailing experience but a thirst for information and understanding of conditions and logistics. A review of crewing, tasks and responsibilities would have provided an insight to requirements but not having this did not detract from full enjoyment.

I grew up on the northeast coast just south of Boston, the cold green Atlantic is where my mother, God bless her put me in the soft rolling waves as an infant, she said I wriggled like a madman to get in the 10" deep rolling waves, I'm most at home in the ocean, some primitive part of my brain calls me into the water. Thank you for a beautiful trip at those villages right on the sea.

I worked as a professional yacht skipper for 17 years before switching to flying aeroplanes.. Unfortunately, I never was lucky enough to work for an owner that wanted to do anything other than be seen on the stern of his yacht while cruising the Mediterranean. Not until becoming disenchanted with airline work and switching to smaller aircraft on various operations did I get to see the more remote, desolate and extremes of this wonderful planet. I would dearly have loved to spend time on Venture II.. a true cruising adventure. Thank you for recording these voyages, had i known about them in advance you may well have discovered a stowaway with a sextant aboard :>)

I have watched A LOT of sailing posts on RU-vid, mostly of sail boats rather than powered boats. The route of your journey caught my eye, so i decided to have a look, am i glad I did! This is easily one of the most enjoyable posts i have seen on here. Filming and narration in perfect harmony. Some very interesting geographic and historical facts delivered by a perfectly matched voice. Thank you.

Very inclusive tour, from remote sea island communities, to Scottish lochs, to inland tidal estuaries (for which England is famous). Having been in Greenland myself, I think that would have been a unique distraction from everything you had so far experienced (maybe you could have started a week earlier). Anyway, very well done with such a vessel.!! Little surprise you were at the centre of attention at the firework display finale.!

Ensconced within the puffy folds of a comfy easy chair - the occasional crack ...crack and whistle of a fully ablaze log which complements the enviroment nicely ...and feeling seven again, I surround my large cup of coco with both hands and lay back captive.. It's an engagement that requires only the ear to hear and the eye to see. The serenity of a rare journey seems to roll in rhythm with cold water swells that slowly carry the dance through layers of time . 'Snice!

The sea near Iceland and Greenland can change from incredibly beautiful to horribly frightening so quickly. I often think about the thousands of merchant seamen who toiled and suffered miserably on these waters trying to deliver material goods to Britain and Russia during the wars. Thousands gave their last measure. RIP dear souls!
