It’s winter and Venus is trolling us wearing a crop top. In terms of sugar, I stick to fruit with a sprinkling of cinnamon, which regulates your insulin levels. Dates are another go too, although I find them very sweet; taking tiny bites generally works. What do you snack on during matches, V?

Ive managed to cut sugar out of my diet, except for cheat days. I think its helped me out so much on court. This topic got me thinking. How awesome would it be if sugar was actually good for you?

I replaced refined sugar with Florida Crystal's, it's pure raw unprocessed sugar, the taste is great 👍🏽

I have to go cold turkey from refined sugar; I don’t have a “medium” switch. It usually takes about a week and a half for the cravings to subside - it’s no joke getting there - and then I’m good. Same goes for refined carbs. Living without aching cravings is a blessing. I still have plenty of fruit, and I am no way a virtuous eater, but I find that planning my snacks in advance so I don’t get hungry is a huge deterrent. Make them satisfying snacks. I like a lil pineapple and cottage cheese with a sprinkle of grape nuts on top. Is it nutritionally balanced? I think so? Plop in a spoonful of greek yogurt and sprinkle some slivered almonds if you need more protein.

I am living with a condition that interferes with my immune system and it's what I found out all by myself. Sugar consumption as much as I love it kills me. Makes my joints suffer from inflammation and it hurts. I also get too tired etc Once I stopped eating sugar and replace it with water I started feeling better and great . Thank you so much for this. ❤

Yes! Nutella calls me in the middle of the night (and at noon, in the afternoon, while I'm making dinner.... ). I just can't have it in the house. Thank you for your helpful videos!

Im more of a sugar through coffee guy. I tend to reach for sugar during colder times like now. It's a little too miserable for tennis outside 😞. I don't know how you keep from eating carbs when its lower 40s. Thats amazing.

Hey, Venus! I too have a sweet tooth. If I buy a bag of candy, I limit how many I can eat/day. Instead of buying whole cakes, I buy packages that only contain a few slices. I'll be on the lookout for the snacks you featured in the video. Question: Do you still watch tennis?

Like Venus, i am addicted to extreme sugar. I am drinking maple syrup directly from the bottle. On an other hand, i believe that sugar addicted people are smarter. I am half serious of course, but Venus Williams is a good example. Isn't it?

That was good advice I’m bad I drink soda and love pasta of course I crave sugar too I’ve always loved chocolate I’m 73 but I’m lucky my blood work is good thank you for sharing are you still playing tennis ?

Great video… Sweet Treat are my weakness too.. I try decreasing my intake and frequency of my sweet treats and drinking lots of water. Looking forward to your next video!🤗🧘🏽‍♀️

This makes so much sense. I have been a huge sugar addict my entire life. I have fibromyalgia that has been much easier to live with by trying... TRYING to eliminate sugar. I love dates! Yummy little snack when I'm craving that sweet treat after I eat. I get insane migraines when I go on a sugar binge. So thank you! I love this video! Looking forward to seeing more from you!

One of our all time faves are Nature's candy, Superfood DATES , taste like caramel , packed full of minerals&vitamins and high in beneficial fiber , just nips the sugar craving in the bud and sooo good for You. Love with a latte for a quick nutritious great Breaky on the go with home made oatmeal cookies. or as a night time snack, with warm milk or like You said fresh fruit like peeled apples is the Best sleep aid. I find medjool dates, dried apricots, and sultanas (the natural ones without oil) help when I feel like something sweet. Instead of sugar, I wil add 1 tsp of maple syrup in my tea or coffee or hot carob drink although I try not to have caffeine. Coconut water is a nice distraction without as much calories. I quit sugar around 15 years ago. I found the whole food sweeteners didn't cause a craving like table sugar. Whole food alternatives have a STOP whereas table sugar was leaving me unable to stop. Fun fact: I quit eating sugar by switching to a big pot of pasta - of course once I was over the line, I didn't keep eating pasta...it turned me off for awhile, and I still don't eat it a lot just now and then but it did the trick. Believe me I was stuffed trying...I remember it took nearly a whole week with this darn big pot sitting on my couch praying to the Lord. It worked. I would not touch anything with table sugar with a ten foot pole now because I know how hard it was to let it go. That stuff is evil.

I just finished watching the movie "King Richard" for the first time. It has given me so much more love and respect for Mr. Richard Williams. Don't know why I teared up for the first time during the movie when I saw Venus wearing the beads. Great movie. ✊🏿

I'm with you! I've been addicted to sugar my whole life. I have diabetes, heart, and lung disease, so my diet is very important. However, I can stop the sugar. 😢 I love you! I'm going to try the gummies you recommend. Hopecit helps me. 😊

To lower my sugar, in addition to eliminating chocolate; I added sauerkraut to my dinner meals. I also have an 🥑 each day.

I have Sjogrens like you Venus, and I used to be an athlete in my teens. I have been paying more attention to my diet since i was diagnosed in 2020 because I am keen to keep my pain and extreme fatigue to a minimum. Some mornings with my first cuppa and some evenings around 10pm I crave for something sweet like milk chocolate. I also sometimes crave liquorice or tiramisu. What I am doing more consciously now is cutting out all sugars and refined carbs I don't crave but maybe ate without a thought before. Sugary drinks, adding sugar to food or drink, sweets, and like you - white breads/pastas/rice. I think of them as bland 'beige' foods that turn to instant sugar once in your belly. That way I can still have a little bit of what I fancy but not overload the blood sugar with the stuff I can take or leave. Those cravings are so strong though! No matter how good my willpower is.

Me, too, Venus. I am completely addicted to sugar in a way that most people are not and I have been that way my whole life. My brother is not--he could care less for sugary things. I rarely bring a sweet in the house. "If it's in your house, it's in your mouth."

Goji berries really helps with my sugar cravings. I eat 1/2 to 1 tablespoon and I don’t crave sugary food when I do that.

I Drink Organic COCONUT WATER. I Also Use It For My Smoothies To Which I Add A Little Piece Of Banana or One Slice Of Apple + Other Ingredients (Raw Almonds, Mint, Ginger, Turmeric, Flaxseeds, Cinnamon; Sometimes With Cacao & Always Pink Himalayan Salt. That's How I (Mostly) *Attack My Rare Sugar Cravings! What I Crave Most Is Carbs; GOOD Fresh Baked Bread & Oat Pasta. Yummy! :))

Dried persimmon - not too sweet, but not cheap either. Get organic, no sugar added for best taste and nutrition. Half-pound goes a long way with dried persimmon. Similar to what Venus was eating, dried mango slices - very convenient and tasty. Whole dates are great, but have a high (natural) sugar content. For savory (not sweet) snacks: miso, one tablespoon per cup of hot water. Almonds, pecans.

Me, too! it's not genetic, though. We grow up with our very ignorant parents giving us processed food from stores, very few veggies, and my generation had garbage like Kool-Aid in our bottles since the age of two! So our our systems were set up to live off of sugar. Our liver and kidneys fight our whole lives until we get older and they get tired and try to fail on us before we realize the systemic damage. Your high energy career is saving you, thank God!
