I think this season really BROKE Venus.. She really Played amazing ball the whole year and to come up a bit short in the end, Its heartbreaking. And to even watch this now is hard because she was playing some of the BEST TENNIS SHES EVER PLAYED..
I wouldn't say her best she ever played that abit of a reach. She played better then she has since post syndrome disease. If venus played her best ever trust me she would have won the us open and Wimbledon that year without dropping a set if she was at her all time best
@@dayzour123 to me there aren't too many times she's played better than 2017 US Open based on the Matches with Kvitova and Sloane..of course her Many Wimbledon titles and 2007 us open semi finals , but to me when she loses matches while PLAYING THIS Great it's mental.. because I agree her ultimate best is when the mental is on par with her ground game.. when those two are on 100% at the same time, Nobody can beat her..
Same is happening with Serena nowadays. They both have a heart of a true champion but you can't take away one thing for sure. That's they are no longer as fit and young as they used to be. Which comes with age. Venus particularly. Her syndrome has taken away a lot from her. Although she achieved so much prior to her illness diagnosis but if she was fully fit there is no doubt she would still be winning the majors.
both playing really well. Petra was hitting a lot of heavy backhands, finishing with some *incredible angles. Venus was controlling a lot of points from the centre of the court and finishing well, especially on her fh drivevolley. This one of finest hardcover matches from either player in this decade - and yet Petra rarely played at this kind of level in New York and Venus had a terrible letdown in her next match against Stephens.
If u don't mix up the pace and spins of your shots, Kvitova can be a NIGHTMARE to deal with. Her pace and penetration is overwhelming when she gets the ball in the same spot everytime. I think that's the reason Venus has struggled against the younger generation as she's gotten older, she can no longer out hit everybody and her patterns are very predictable. This was a gutsy performance from Venus tho
Interesting how Venus serves flat mostly but hits with varying spins and pace. Petra on the other hand serves with a lot of spins but hits mosty flat. 😅
