Veolia’s DAF Hook Lift - Ft Aussie Garbo

Here we have one of the new Veolia DAF / Palfinger Hook Lifts picking up a shiny bright red Suez packer at Dnata Food Catering in Mascot.
Dnata provides food catering for the airlines at Sydney Airport resulting in producing large amounts of waste. Both packers on site needing to be emptied twice daily hence the fact that both packers on site are Hook Lift and Dino compatible. The Packer featured gets tipped off at Veolias Banksmeadow Facility but the packer behind it in the Quarantine area gets unloaded at Veolia Revesby Biosecurity Treatment Facility.
The truck featured is a 2021 DAF CF17 fitted with a Palfinger Hook Lift Frame. This truck is owned and operated by a Subcontractor for Veolia who has Mitch ( Aussie Garbo ) help out and cover some weekend runs for him. The truck is kept in immaculate condition inside and out with it being regularly cleaned and washed. The only flaw on this truck is a small crack in the Sun visor.
You may notice the bright red Suez packer being picked up. Since Veolia has taken over Suez it has been a large scale and time consuming operation to replace / put new signage onto every MGB, Front Lift and Hook Lift bin aswell as replacing all the signage on each truck and depot. I’ve noticed all of the former Suez trucks and yards have received the new Veolia Signage aswell as a lot of the bins too but with some bins still needing to be transitioned over.
In this video I wanted to capture the full experience of Hook Lift work from Backing upto the bin, raising the hook lift frame and placing the bolts in place followed by Placing the bin on the back then spinning the packer around the the tip, unloading, spinning the packer back around and placing the packer back in place at Dnata. I also wanted ( And Highly encouraged by the driver ) to get a few videos showing the locks operating which secure the bin to the frame while the truck is in transit. I also wanted to show in the last clip just how close the Job is to the airport being within 200m of massive Qantas planes.

Top video mate, you put it together really well, came out excellent!!! Must be the best hook lift video available to watch on RU-vid, haven't seen any others that show this much of the action/task, but definitely the best one of an Aussie hooker anyway. I reckon it worked out well getting this in daylight, shows the truck better and highlights that bright red packer, both look real nice together. It's quick and easy work when you can simply bring the bins straight up and over like it was shown! The let down with the dino at Banksmeadow was the inability to reverse under packers to get them on, due to the type of ground surface which would make them slide back, always had to do it stage by stage which was a bugger. Spewing hard about the two wide spin arounds to get on the other side of the packer, turning circle is just that tiny bit too large for a single swing... can be done, but gotta be right on the mark. Usually I can get around the ending scene in one turn too, but what screwed me that morning was the gate not being fully open, so needed to take it a bit wider =( Damn annoying the main locks are so hidden in the shade, really is hard to capture the rear sets engaging in a single shot, you sort of need to be looking in the right spots to know they're even moving haha The front lock captures are great but and at least you got a brilliant shot of the rear locks station unobstructed in clear view to show exactly how they function. Also thought it was cool seeing the container handler in action in the background at times, a bit of behind the scenes action at Banksmeadow. Sweet to see all this happening from outside the cab for a change as well, very enjoyable to watch myself operating a different machine =D

Wow what a great video! Such great close-ups and very well shot and edited. Great work. You were super lucky being able to get the full experience and I think you aced it. And good on Mitch for letting this happen.
