THE MORECAMBE & WISE CHRISTMAS SHOW - 1972
Eric starts the show with a series of practical tricks. Kenny Ball & His Jazzmen perform a musical number. Eric and Ernie play a pair of Santa's reindeer. Jack Jones sings "Dream Baby" accompanied by Eric and Ernie. He then sings "If". The major play this time is 'Dawn Patrol', set in a RAF base during World War I. Ernie introduces Vera Lynn, and Eric and Eric assist her as she sings "Pass Me By". She then sings "If We Only Had Love". They have some time to fill sow Ernie does some farmyard impressions. Ernie's play is called 'Victoria and Albert' and Glenda Jackson stars as Queen Victoria. They finish up with Eric, Ernie and Glenda singing and dancing to "Cabaret".

Vera Lynn sang this classic song so well in 1972. The emotions flowed from her every musical note. Jacques Brel had been behind this song that received a lot of attention in 1972, as singers like Vera Lynn performed so well. She could sing a lot of the modern female singers right off the stage. Bravo to Vera Lynn and that long hold at the end, wow!!! Vera Lynn had so many talents.

This is live. Look at her stance, voice preciseness and emotional performance. No one does this nowadays. I think young singers would benefit from seeing Vera and others of her era. Exquisite.

Too bad Vera didn't get the recognition she deserved during the 60's and 70's, she was a great singer but was associated so much during the war, she could easily compete with Shirley Bassey, Petula Clark and others.
