Verdi is amazing ! and particularly the Anvil Chorus from IL Trovatore is astoundingly outrageous ! They all fall in line here to present one of the magnificent classical pieces of all time ! Kudos to all !
For those sad individuals complaining about it being sung in English, do you understand that this is part of an OPERA and that operas, being theatrical pieces, are translated all the time? It's like complaining about someone translating Shakespeare to Italian.
The best translations are mostly those used (and often written) by the ENO. They are designed to maintain both the lyrics and the musical integrity of the opera at the same time, so they are not wordperfect to the original
I don’t mind at all that it’s sung in English, but I do mind that it’s not enunciated very well - you can barely make out a word. If the purpose was to make it more understandable to an English-speaking audience, I don’t think it succeeded.
Mi spiace ma l'inglese non è una lingua adatta all'Opera. Almeno non all'Opera Italiana. Le parole infatti non sono messe lì per caso, ma fanno parte della musica. Se volete cantare Verdi, fattelo in Italiano.
