@@opera.english.subtitles As an amateur ballerina, I can tell you that modern ballet does look the way presented around the 2:21:00 mark. It can be jerky, stiff, funky, and intentionally ugly in its choreography, costumes, music, and concepts. I'm a bit old-fashioned in that I mostly prefer to watch classical ballets of the Romantic era, and modern ballets with choreography based on that school of ballet, with their grace, fluidity, and beauty. That's the kind I learned, dance, and like watching. I like some Balanchine and MacMillan, but their modernity was from the mid-20th century, which isn't as anti-classical as 21st-century movement. The ballet here is not pleasant to my eyes or ears, but it fits neatly into the modern concept. Do you know the year?
I wish someone did a bilingual production of this opera. Italians sing in Italian, French sing in French, the main characters switch as the situation calls for it. Would be a bit hard to learn but it would be fun.
Actually, RU-vid removed it. There was a copyright issue. I haven't seen it anywhere since. Yeah, I put a lot of work into the subtitles so that was a bummer. Hopefully, I can find a different Aida to subtitle again.
@@Dylonely42 Yeah, like I said, I put a lot of work into it, so it's very disappointing on my side too. Oh, well, I am working on some other ones now, but it's a slow process.
Nope. RU-vid removed it.🙁It is owned by Garsington opera, the opera company performing it. They have a RU-vid channel but at this time don't seem to have the full video available to watch, however, you might try their partners listed at the bottom of their RU-vid channel homepage. Sorry about that. I hope you got to watch it earlier. It is quite good.
@@gaddovarzi6980 At least Caimi has a nice agility for some of those tricky passages. I have a video of Rigoletto where I think it is Caimi singing the Duke, but I didn't bother with it too much, because although Caimi was quite enjoyable, the Rigoletto had no top whatsoever, so I became frustrated with it and quit watching it.
Ruined by infantile staging and dressing the singers up in halloween costumes. An insult to Verdi and opera in general. Why do the singers put up with it?
That's a good question. I don't really mind unique approaches to opera but this one is just downright ugly to me. Still, the singing is good, and I will sit through the dumbest of stagings if the singing is good. Thank you for commenting.
@@dimitrovajunkie True. Unless the singer is super-famous and churning out CDs for a big music label, he/she would probably be a fool to turn down singing at the Bavarian State Opera.
