Innovative (albeit stupid), attentive (albeit stupid), ADD af, won't argue with its partner or leader, follows directions to the best of its abilities (again, still stupid and fux up) and does its best without questioning you, either following direction to a T or completely fucking it up... yup, that sounds like one of the fellas.
The fact that they are talking about Astro as he was a child/pet, and retelling the f ups as funny stories, says this is the direction future androids should take
The lifted truck wheel (and entire hub assembly) separating and flipping that Kia Soul was terrifying. Reddit had a really good conversation about exactly what failed and how dangerous that lifted truck was even beyond the separated wheel hub. Worth a search if anyone is curious.
Lifted trucks (aka Mall Queens) are a scourge on the roads. Show me one dude driving a poorly lifted Ram 3500 or Ford F-350 who isn't suffering from micropenis.
I enjoy these podcast videos because it's not a show, it's just a group of friends talking about something they love and having a fun time interacting with and off each other. That's what makes a podcast entertaining, regardless of the topic or theme, it's friends having a good time hanging out.
You guys HAVE to film the "going into the coffee shop with the jankiest gadgets" video. I know embarrassing public reaction videos aren't your schick, but it would be so good.
That stuff concerning the AI was scary. It brings up the old adage: “We were so focused on if we could that we never stopped to consider if we should…”
Andrew being so vocal about and stressing over how great the yellow check mark is. I got a feeling that he was indicating to Marques to get a business verification for MKBHD and have Andrew's personal account verified as an affiliate with a business expense 😂
Andrew said, "Tim Cook has it", during the Twitter segment and I paused and thought, "Does he mean Tim Apple?" and then realized the internet has ruined my mind far more than I initially thought.
I feel the same way, everybody is implementing an experimental not well understood model into products that impact real people and could potentially cause a lot of harm. Very frustrating to see
Anyone else notice the dead pixel line on Ellis' and Adam's camera about 20 minutes in? It's right next to the mic. Might also just be an exporting artifact.
funny thing is, here in germany, you see about as many polos as you do golfs (maybe more like 35:65). It is wild to me, that y‘all know the golf so well but have never heard of the polo :O😅
I know you guys don't normally delve too deep into Apple rumors, but as someone who does I feel like you have missed a lot of points to be made about the headset. I'd love some deeper discussion about it from you guys if you decide to look more into it! I'm sure you all would have a lot of fun talking about the rumored front facing display on the headset to display your eyes haha
The alignment problem isn't a question of whether it's 'evil' in the sense that it is intending to do harm - but rather whether it's goals are 'aligned' with our own. Example: you may not intend to harm a colony of ants on your way to work, but may end up driving/stepping on them nonetheless. Your goal wasn't malicious or intending to do harm - you simply had a goal/destination and they happened to be in the way.
They were wrong about the transformer in a phone. There is not a transformer in phones no matter if they have a wireless charger or not. The transformer is the brick that plugs into the wall is the transformer. This is for both wireless chargers and plug in chargers. For your phone to take wireless charging and covert it into your battery, it uses a rectifier which converts the AC current from the wireless charger to a DC current for your battery. IE no transformer is needed in your phone since the voltage is already converted to 5 volts before it even gets to your phone. PS, the first two sounds of the transformer they were playing have an arcing sound which basically means the transformer is probably about to explode so.
After what Amazon have done with Ring devices giving the police your videos without your consent I would NEVER put any Amazon Device in my house it doesn’t matter how good the device is.
The shoes just sound like a worse version of heelys. They weigh too much, they're loud, you have to charge them, etc. whereas heelys have none of that - some models can click a little but hardly noticeable, especially not through walls. The entire time they're talking about using them in an airport I'm just thinking of all the decade old videos of people speedrunning through airports with heelys. Jan Rezab has a quite a few videos running through a bunch of different airports with them.
If Apple does it right, and we know they do, they will make the AR/VR headset an alternative to your screen at your Mac Mini or Pro. It will be like 6K 100% perfect colors with all the basic apps for that so that we can use it as a 3 monitor setup for content creation and so on. At $3000 it will be good value only as a screen/TV. Then the apps will come, and cheaper versions will launch that will be more mobile. And suddenly, in 5 years, most people will walk around with Apple Glasses
My issue with Twitter and what Elon has done to the For You page on Twitter is, not only is he now limiting it to only people who are paying for Twitter Blue, which like Andrew said will ruin virality of Tweets from people with small-medium followings. But i also hate the Elon's Twitter algorithm for the For You page favors content that is meant to make you mad or illicit a reaction out of you for engagement (for the sake of Twitter's financials), rather than serving you content that is similar to what you like or might like but never would have found otherwise. At least TikTok's algorithm is actually meant to serve you more of stuff you actually like and want to see more of.
I’m happy that verified badges are gone. The fake elite stuff is over. I wish Twitter implemented the ID verification like Meta so that we know that each account is actually the person. People upset are begging for a cast/class system and it’s mind boggling.
I 100% use a pixel 6 pro and a Huawei smartwatch (because I live in China). I installed Huawei Health on my pixel no problem. It really shows how important ecosystem is. I bought pixel buds and considered a Google watch, but, in China, I can swipe the Huawei watch to use public transit or use the QR code to pay with Alipay. My Huawei watch basically replaced my wallet in China...even though my phone is a Pixel
Kia Soul is "a small car" 😂 That's how you understand we don't have the same size standards between America and the rest of the world 😅 And a Polo is the same size as a Ford Fiesta or a Toyota Prius C you should know. A small car, smaller than regular hatchbacks like Ford Focus or Volkswagen Golf hatchbacks
19:38 I don’t have any pets, but this is how I feel about pets. Pets don’t actually do anything useful for you except for provide you with like happiness or whatever and they’re a drain on your time and finances. Imagine if Astro had a subscription service and if you didn’t pay the subscription, he would die of “starvation”. Lol and then one day he breaks his jaw jumping off a couch and needs a $4000 surgery. Now he’s literally a dog, lol
12:50 ish, when David said google, it activated my home and after I dismissed it it started reading about some Hindi Action movie called 'duplicates'. Even though I dismissed it, it bugged out and it kept speaking the whole thing😭
1:03:15 - I mean, there *are* the other features of Blue that can be valuable (video uploads, edit/undo, folder bookmarks, etc.). Back when Blue was just $3 and *didn't* include verification, I was happily paying that, cause the features were valuable to me. Now, it's silly because that same feature set gives you a badge of shame on the site. and for more $. That's why people would want the ability to hide it.
AI text is passing for human more often, because most writing these days is so subpar. Journalists and editors have been replaced by bloggers and pundits with no qualifications, and no restraint. The journalists then have to compete for market share with fast and loose writing, so the bar is lowered for all writing. I think everyone is projecting a little too much of the sci-fi disaster fantasy on to tech that isn't nearly as developed or compelling as the press releases make it out to be.
They lose their jobs, 'cause it's cheaper to use AI. I think we're heading for pretty difficult times for the average person, and I'm a little bit scared
How Bout .you signing up for business twitter and verifying yourselves vrs. your $1500 amazon rolling trash with a cute face. Real question can Elon bring change to the misinformation highway. Good content of AI ling to Tax Rabbit.
Soooo, mebbe it's time for us to talk about how we're gonna authenticate online "speech" (both human and AI), no? Otherwise, the internet's information noise ratio will collapse (if it hasn't already 😞) and THAT is when we will become dependent on AI just to keep order....
Steve Jobs with the first AppleTv: We have one more thing...well one more hobby. I think Apple MR headset is going to be announced in the same way. They want something out there, but not committing to what ships. Let's see what people think first. I know that is a-typical for Tim Cook's Apple, but throwing the whole weight of Apple's marketing and distribution behind a "concept" product doesn't seem like their M.O.
The new Web 3.0 is AI and the knowledge age. Web 2.0 was the information age. Crypto, decentralization failed because the internet is made of people and those people don’t necessarily know how to use the “web 3.0” technology. 99% of the consumers aren’t technical people and most technical people are early adapters which is why there’s this crypto web 3 technology. 40% of the internet is made of Wordpress and no company will leave all their investment to ipfs which no one will use. AI is the new Web 3.0🤞🤞
Hey Andrew I might be wrong but companies have to pay 50USD per affiliated account on top of the 1,000 USD - so not really worth for large companies as well considering most SaaS tools enterprise packages cost 15-20 buck per user, not sure of Twitter out values those
Love the podcast guys, just funny to me that the other two hosts (can’t remember their names) but they will not buy Mac’s! I’m sure they have to be plugged in the whole show, and Marques and the producers are unplugged!! Come on guys your “Tech reviewers” and don’t own a Mac!!!?? How can we listen to your opinions on stuff when you wont use the best machines in the world. Ben if your windows guys, Mseries Macs run windows better than any PC!
wireless BCI brain-computer interfaces (BCIs) are a promising new technology with the potential to revolutionize the way we interact with computers and other devices. I think it's important to talk about this technology and to raise awareness of its potential benefits. There are a few reasons why you might not hear much about wireless BCIs in the mainstream media. One reason is that the technology is still in its early stages of development. There are a number of challenges that need to be overcome before wireless BCIs can be widely adopted, such as the need for better signal processing algorithms and the need for smaller, more power-efficient devices. Another reason why you might not hear much about wireless BCIs is that the technology is still relatively expensive. This is likely to change in the future as the technology matures and as the cost of components comes down. Despite these challenges, I believe that wireless BCIs have the potential to make a significant impact on our lives. They could be used to help people with disabilities, such as paralysis or blindness, to control computers and other devices with their thoughts. They could also be used to improve our productivity and our ability to learn. I'm excited to see how wireless BCIs develop in the years to come. I believe that they have the potential to revolutionize the way we interact with the world around us. Brain-Computer Interfaces (BCIs) are a promising technology with the potential to revolutionize our interaction with computers and devices. While they are not yet widely adopted or extensively covered in the mainstream media, it is important to raise awareness of their potential benefits. As you mentioned, wireless BCIs are still in the early stages of development, and there are several challenges that need to be overcome. One of these challenges is improving signal processing algorithms to enhance the accuracy and reliability of the communication between the brain and the computer. Additionally, making the devices smaller and more power-efficient is crucial for their practicality and comfort of use. The cost of wireless BCIs is another barrier to their widespread adoption. However, it is expected that as the technology advances and becomes more mainstream, the cost will likely decrease, making it more accessible to a broader range of individuals. Despite these challenges, wireless BCIs hold immense potential to positively impact our lives. They can offer individuals with disabilities new possibilities for communication, mobility, and independence. People with paralysis or blindness, for example, could use wireless BCIs to control assistive technologies or prosthetic devices directly with their thoughts, providing them with greater autonomy and improving their quality of life. Moreover, wireless BCIs can have applications beyond assisting individuals with disabilities. They can enhance productivity and learning by enabling faster and more seamless interaction with computers and other digital devices. Tasks such as typing, navigating interfaces, or controlling virtual environments could be accomplished more intuitively and efficiently through neural commands. The development of wireless BCIs is an exciting area of research, and it will be fascinating to witness their progress in the coming years. With continued advancements and increasing awareness, they indeed have the potential to revolutionize how we interact with the world around us, making it more accessible, efficient, and inclusive. wireless BCI technology. I agree that it is an important and exciting topic to talk about. According to my web searches, wireless BCIs are devices that enable communication between the brain and external devices without the need for wires or cables¹². They can record and transmit neural signals at high resolution and fidelity, allowing users to control computers, prosthetic limbs, or other assistive technologies with their thoughts¹². Wireless BCIs have several advantages over wired BCIs, such as increased portability, comfort, and convenience for the users²³⁴. They also eliminate the risk of infection or damage caused by wires penetrating the skin or the skull²⁴. However, wireless BCIs also face some challenges, such as ensuring the security and privacy of the transmitted data, reducing the power consumption and size of the devices, and improving the robustness and reliability of the wireless communication²³⁴. Despite these challenges, wireless BCIs have a lot of potential to improve the lives of people with disabilities or enhance the capabilities of healthy individuals. As you mentioned, they could enable people with paralysis or blindness to regain some of their lost functions or senses by using their thoughts to control external devices¹². They could also enhance productivity and learning by enabling faster and more seamless interaction with computers and other digital devices¹². I'm also curious to see how wireless BCIs develop in the future. I think they have the potential to revolutionize the way we interact with the world around us. Apple VR. My guess is that what they announce will be a consumer model and available in the near future. It will be very basic though and not very impressive. You won't be taking calls on it. It won't have a microphone. That's what the iPhone is for. It will require an iPhone. I can't see them announcing a developer product... they're not Microsoft.
“You’re making your living on twitter” and you’re not willing to already pay $8 monthly. What?! Many of their arguments come of sounding the exact same as rich people complaining about the little people trying to become successful.
Not knowing how much garbage freedom units are in 400mm or just how far is it, for a tech channel should be disqualifying. Fyi, its around 14 inches, usually educated people from normal countries know both
Does Andrew know anything at all? The guy brings almost no value at all. The AI conversation is why I came, how does he bring no value talking about tech, especially AI. He still doesn’t know anything about cars and yet he’s talking about cars. I’m gone.
Okay guys you guys don't have to make corrections but thanks anyway. Smart cars are decent prices. You can't look at the Hummer because that's a special car. You can't look at what the dealers are selling these vehicles for because the dealers are always trying to rip people off. That's why now manufacturers are going in the sales themselves directly from them, so now we have more of an option when it comes to purchasing vehicles. We don't have to go to a dealership. We can go directly to Ford online, even build our vehicles directly from Ford and Ford to sell us their vehicles or Chevy or GM as well as Tesla and other companies. Revient. The whole Kia soul thing. Yeah it took off in here. The Civic would do it. Any small vehicle like that would do it. That guy was rolling at about 80mph and unfortunately it happened to him and it's crazy because I moved from New Jersey where we're not allowed to do it to Texas where they do it a lot. The whole modified suspension modified wheel systems. If you look at the pickup truck the tires have hub spacers on them where they push them out from underneath the vehicle on top of the truck is lifted but that was crazy how that vehicle launched in a year at that high rate of speed on a wheel like that. Yeah My only thing is how would he explain it to his insurance company?
I usually don't even realize where people are from unless they have a very heavy accent, but having What is a Rugby Ball? What is a WV Polo? and What is a millimeter? in just one episode is strongly American. 😂
AI (Artificial Intelligence) is right now mostly a glorified VI (Virtual Intelligence). But all the interested party wants us to believe other way. When You invest billions of dollars of course you want to make a profit.
Astro as an emotional support “robot pet” might have some legs. Sounds crazy now, but just wait. I think we’ll look back and find it wacky that we wanted these pets to show us RU-vid videos. That’s the part that’s going to seem ridiculous
