First Backountry Ski Outing of the year at Brandon Gap! We skied the "No Name" and Bear Brook Bowl Backountry Areas located at the Bear Brook parking lot on Brandon Mountain Road. There was not very much base yet but the fresh 1-2 feet of snow from Winter Storm Gail made for some fun somewhat powder skiing!

Now you're talking! I'm looking to ski interesting glens, and slopes in the woods of NH. You're encouraging me to go with the touring bindings vs cables. How well do those skins handle rolling terrain? Can you get some glide going?

Hey Velo NH, thanks for the comment! With the skins I can get sliding pretty well down steep enough terrain but there is not much glide on flats or slight downhills.

heading up to Brandon Gap this weekend, any chance you know if there is still snow up there?

Hey Anthony, haven't been down that way in a while but the snow cover farther north in Vermont near Mt. Mansfield is pretty thin at the moment as you can see in our latest video, and I'd imagine it is pretty similar in Brandon. Hoping for more snow soon!

Also checking the snow reports at ski areas close to Brandon Gap could help you get a better idea on the local conditions!
