Vermont backcountry skiing in 40+ inches of snow...

This VOLOG is a little abnormal for us. We typically post exclusively gravel cycling / overland content, BUT we feel that when Vermont gets this much snow it's more than worth it to make a fun vlog. To us, backcountry skiing is the "gravel cycling" of winter sports and we're fortunate enough to live right next to an amazing mountain: Ascutney Outdoors.
In this vlog, Ansel Dickey, Banjo the Border Collie, Brooks Curran and Dave Trumpore skin up mount Ascutney to find an excess of 40 inches of snow. They had a great time.

Please keep up with the vlogs--love them. My wife's family has been going to the Barnard/Woodstock area since the 1930's and now we go with our children. I love seeing the area through these videos. I 'bikepacked' to Barnard from Buffalo this past summer, and I'm coming that way again next July! Every day is one day closer to heading back to Silver Lake.

Wow! Your stoke is infectious. I've been debating whether backcountry skiing/boarding was for me and this sold me. I'm in Toronto so we have zero local access. It's an 8-hour drive to Vermont for me on a good day but looks worth it when conditions are good.

I was on the New Hampshire end of the 40" snow band. Tried going cross-country skiing in my woods, and the snow was up to my belly button, I was basically wading around in it. Totally crazy!

Very cool video! Hiking up at a resort doesn't really county as 'backcountry' though.

This storm was insane! We have a video from the same day at Brandon Gap on our channel and there wasn't nearly as much snow as ascutney!

A winter Wonderland! That storm missed my house in Buffalo and my property in northern Adirondacks unfortunately. What tires on a 4 runner?

It was totally nuts. There was a thin band of the storm that dumped 40+ inches across mid/southern VT. I've got BFG All-Terrain KO2's, about 1.5 inches bigger on the stock rims, biggest i could fit without rubbing and without a lift.....

looking into VT because CO is super expensive and crowded now. still have my land in West Cliff, CO but there are more jobs in VT. looking at videos of Tuckerman's ravine and the absolute resort that is, I am thinking Spokane is a better bet. Is that normal for VT bc?

Unfortunately, definitely not typical... this storm dropped 35" on Southern VT / NH but it rained an inch a week later (Christmas day!), and we were back to bare ground in January in some places. Grew up in VT, saw a 30"+ inch storm maybe ... 4?... times in 20 years. Also not sure what jobs you're looking at, but the job market in VT is pretty tough
