Vermont - The Direction Of This Game Worries Me 

I don't want to be too negative as I still have a deep love for WoWS, but games like these are becoming much more frequent. And this was just featuring T8 ships, it could've been T10s, or god forbid, superships. Some highlights include 10:30, when CV auto-ASW does what I couldn't do all game and 13:45 is really just the cherry on top. And everything WG has promised for us in 2023 appears to just make these issues worse.

The "I was not allowed to play the game" comment really resonated with me. It's becoming worse and worse. Half my matches I think "what a waste of my time"

Such amazing counter-play opportunities vs that div, CVs and submarines are truly one of the additions of all time.

Fighting submarines in this game is honestly like a boss battle, or a horror game like Alien isolation. Your only "counterplay" is to just runaway or get torped, and the constant pinging sure sound like you're being chased by an alien ship.

Modern WoWs is throwing every piece of shit they can at a wall and everything that sticks great, and everything that doesn't stick, they apply duct tape to make it stick. The little time I get to play WoWS always ends with me rage quitting the game. When I thought that they couldn't possibly make things worse than rework CVs, they come in with current submarines, what the actual fuck is up with WG devs????

They should give the submarines their historical 9 knots submerged and 21 knots on the surface. Other ships like the iowa are stuck to their historical speeds... using the logic they've used on subs my Iowa should do 99 knots

Every time I have the urge to log in and play a few games, I just think of games like this and it kills any excitement I could have. Last game I played was in Sinop and was tortured the entire game by a sub while my team imploded (as they usually do).

First 1/4 game 0dmg all because everybody and everything is denying you. It is amazing to watch how two tier 8s can totally lock you out from match. This is basically worst case that can happen. You can't have effect to match and you don't just die, so you could go to next match. You're basically being held hostage by two players that are from two broken ship classes. Can't wait to see somebody comment "If you felt useless you should have,just rushed to die or leave the match" If gameplay is so bad that only option is to leave or suicide, then GAME IS FUCKING BROKEN!

I will say it yet again. Give players game mode options and let them play the mode they want. One of these should be "classic" mode. This would basically be the original maps and ships of US, France, Japan, Soviet Union and UK but NO CV'S. There would be no development costs with this and the only reason I can think of they won't do it is because it would be so Fing popular it would put the new stuff right back in their face.

Every few days i start up wows, look at the port for a few seconds and everytime, the will to play the game leaves my body instantly.

I'm actually thankful for the WOWS Devs. My games have gotten better and better with the addition of more CVs and Subs. I no longer waste my time with wargaming filth and actually play other games that are actually fun. Thanks Wargaming, you made my life better!

I haven't played in a while now, my stress levels are in a better zone. Welcome to my usual games, I felt like I was watching myself play at times.

I haven't played in almost 3 years, and I've been thinking about getting back into WOWS because I remember all the fun I had in it. But then I see videos like these just confirming that the game has continued in the horrible direction which made me stop playing it in the first place. I want to play again, but it almost feel pointless if the game has just gotten worse in some ways and will keep getting worse.

I'd love to see WoWS Classic available, like it was before the original CV changes, when the T6 Cleveland was OP.

The only people I know who still play this game only play Subs/CV's just to drive as many players away from the game as possible via rage-quitting so it finally dies.

I'm grinding out the Japanese torp boat DD line. I'm at tier 7. Last night I logged on and first queue I had a game with 2 Tier 8 CVs per team in it. I went to the cap, perfectly lodged behind a tiny island, held off the cap from their DD and sub on the point without being spotted. Immediately a CV comes in and blind drops me in smoke for 30% of my HP. I peek out after to catch a DD looking the other way at low hp and finish him with a couple of salvos then reverse back into cover. I have taken 0 hits from ships. I drive out and predict the sub's path and depth him out of the circle, cap it, and seconds later another bomber casually comes by and dev strikes me while I'm going full speed and turning for the last 70% of my hp. I think it might have also been a detonation through my 70% detonation prevention, I can't remember because I was so mad I force closed the game. Two drops and I'm dead in a DD with 0 hits taken from enemy ships. I perfectly played opening minutes of the round and died to something I had no agency or counter for. They'll never ever get premium time from me as long as CVs exist because I can't imagine a mechanic for them which promotes fun gameplay.

Big counterplay, perfectly balanced, not annoying at all, everything is fine, no issues here. GG WG.

Don't forget, WeeGee is instituting policies to make it even less worth a BB's while to push up with the nerf to potential damage. Every new class, every rule change, everything they do is aimed to punish anyone not playing a CV or a sub. And until people stop giving them money, it's not gonna change.

Flamu is a super unicum playing this game. Imagine this was played by Average Jill / John. How much more suffering there would have been.

That was insanely depressing to watch. I wish I could say that has never happened to me but I'd be lying. I've had two breaks from the game so far since submarines were definitively introduced, one lasted 3 months. This is not going to get better is it?

I have never seen Flamu this sad. The occasional rage? Sure... but never sad, especially given how much Flamu likes the game. What an absolute heartbreaking thing to watch.

and remember, as per the latest update they nerf BBs. in this meta. they've lost all connections to reality

The exact same thing happened to me yesterday in my Yamato but it was a hayate instead of a sub, Our Malta ignored him the entire game to help his div mate in the Des Moines, looked up the Malta and Des Moines afterwards, 45% Des Moines and a 42% Malta, so fun watching the best ship archetype watch the entire right side of the map die and do nothing but help his division friend

I was focused by a nebraska and lexington in my alsace, focused the whole game shot down 31 planes (T7/9) with mush on the enemy team, take out 2 ships make 3rd on the team and get reported , cause i'm tied up by two ships flying planes at me and spamming HE from the nebraska behind an island . That's such an amazing introduction to these camping hybrids, Weirdly i have found myself on teams with no Hybrid BB more often than not so enemy have 2 planes carrying ships my team absent of that so your dds are fked also. , then i have a sub also pingning me non stop, (who i actually got with DCS) so shooting surface ships in between all that is this fun , far from the surface warship game i signed up to in 2012, I'm playing shorter and shorter , what used to be 2 to 4 hours maybe longer on certain days at the starting years , now after 2 games its log out .

after this, Flamu needs a hug and a beer.

Random as become bullshit with CVs, subs, and superships, so now i play only operation mode. It's fun enough, up to T8, and WG said they thinking about create upper tier OPs...

Im really sorry you had to go through that Flamu. I've been watching you for years and to see you fall into despair over one match truly speaks volumes for how low this game has gone.

I literally had the same experience yesterday, my flank died in minutes around me and then I was focused by a sub and a cv until I died. This was paired with the troll-y dispersion of the Republique. I was on the verge of crying ngl, logged right out of the game. And I had the same thought, we play games to have fun, all I feel playing this game now is stress, anxiety and frustration...

this is actually very encouraging to me - i have games like this all the time - so glad it happens to even Flamu - except my team is probably terrible

I've had games with a Malta or a Kaga on the enemy team where our team has shot down over 100 planes and he's still throwing out full squadrons at the end of the game. It's ridiculous.

Like you said the auto ASW knows where his submarine is going, a player can not know that. The ping is only where he is without the ship on the mini map he could be facing any direction. I've been seeing matches like that constantly on NA servers. Even though WG is giving out premium time to keep people playing, I still just quit about a week ago and have not played again yet. I wish thousands of people would just drop from the player base for a couple weeks to show them. Since they literally don't give a damn what we think. But they DO care about Queue times....

This was sad. I've been there myself. I agree this kind of games have become frequent. It's a truly disappointing path for wows.

First of all, i really respect you for your passion, the love for the game and tons of quality videos. Seeing you sad however, rings the bell for me. This game is no longer the same as it used to be - WG are making it worse and worse with each patch and "balance". I quit 3 years ago and i'm not coming back. Loved the game, so i always do watch your videos to see what's new or how the game evolved. I see tons of issues recently caused by "balancing" for many wrong reasons. If you might decide to switch over to another game one day... it would be great :)

At 4:32 flamu completed the anti Slava challenge: 5 minutes without dealing damage. Passive meta is fun.

This match is typical of how my games have been recently. Just torture to the point of quitting for the day and trying again later, only to get tortured again. I find myself playing less and less bc of the sky cancer and submarines. I was dead in less than 5 minutes in the Giuseppe Verde when uptiered to a super ship match against Eagle. He just focused me and only me till I was dead. I wasn’t even the closest ship to him, nor was I alone. Had a Minnesota game as well where the sub tortured me all game long. Just followed me for 20 minutes spamming torpedoes, ignoring everyone else. So fun and engaging!

This game reminds me of a game I had in the GK. I was tortured for most of the match by an FDR and once the game was concluding, I got to push and killed the CV

It's the lack of counter play and the feeling of hopelessness that made me quit this game 2 years ago and stay away from it since. BTW, this must be the lowest damage battle that I've ever seen Flamu have.

I quit player years ago. Keep watching your videos to see how the game is doing but haven’t seen anything to convince me to come back.

my prediction for mid 2023 is matches with 2 cvs and the rest all subs in all matches

when enough players figure out how to fight subs this game will become unplayable by surface ships. they need to nerf the underwater speed of subs, kill the guided torps, give unlimited range to the ASW planes, and give all ships hydro that detects subs at any depth when in range.

Alternative title: Flamu looses his sanity for 19 minutes.

Its rather funny that the more a class of ship should fear subs, the better they are at countering them. Destroyers have laughable ASW, Cruisers have mixed ASW, BBs have long range airstrikes, and CV's literally autopilot over the sub after popping a fighter squadron on them.

I often rage at BB's in the back while our DD's and CA's/CL's get shredded. This vid gave me a reality check. CV's and Subs are the baseball bats in this game and all the other ships are XP filled pinatas.

Whats the best way to sell my account while it still holds some value? Havent played in two years and dont plan on coming back, but I have some valuable ships

easy: 1. Reduce Submerged Time of Subs by reducing their battery-dive system by 50%, 2. reduce the plane recovery on CVs and add a total amount ot aircrafts they have. like maximum of 100 planes or such...if they constantly fly against hard AA ships they should run out of planes in 10min. end of game for them

Nice dose of reality after watching only highlights.

The crews of my Tier X ships are having a great time in port until the next actually enjoyable high tier thing (like Airship Escort) comes around. My Montana has a 100% win rate in Random Battles: the one Random Battle I played with it happened to be a win. (Win rate in Airship Escort was nowhere near that good, but I had a good time.) Mid-tiers = best tiers. You don’t hear as much about “seal clubbing” these days, too few new players and too many capable players down there.

And you will still have actual crater heads with a puddle of drool on their desk saying how carriers and subs are balanced and have effective counterplay.

This year is the breaking point of Wows, enjoy your last games cause the fun leaves like Dasha. Time to mourn them.

Saw this all weekend. All I could say in chat was Yuri says I not hit pixel. And it's not limited to high tier. It's more of a game of run away. Too many matches of landslide win/loses. Game play almost feels predetermined by WG before I even hit w key.

As new games like Hogwarts start coming out this year watch the server numbers go down. Combined with the poor game direction WG is taking they are just asking for it.

I cant help but think the vermont looks like the titanic but with artillery guns in the place of lifeboats.

I haven't played in years, since not long after the carriers came into being (that actually had nothing to do with why I stopped), but back then the carriers spent a lot of time searching for and trying to kill each other, or at least trying to set fires on the flight decks so they can't launch planes. Now all I see are the carriers and subs all beating on the surface ships and leaving the enemy carriers free to do the same. Am I missing some mechanic that keeps carriers safe from each other?

If only you performed a simple maneuver.

I held a flank alone in a Surrey against 2 CV's (T8/T6) and a sub (T8), full defence for 10 minutes. I survived with 100hp, while my remaining team in the nth got us a win on points. After the game I got 6 compliments from my team mates and 3 direct messages basically saying how stubborn I was and just wouldn't die, allowing the team to go un-harassed and being responsible for the win. I did manage to take down 42 planes, but my XP was still low, As trying to deal with and zone out a Sub doesn't have any XP benefits at all.

I so feel you!!!!!! I have those feelings every day. Subs destroying this game.

See, this is what average players (WR above 50%) have to deal with every single match. It's usually two matches in and I'm already loosing my shit.

you'd think WG could give a bonus based on how close to a cap you are, you'd get a exp modifier likewise if you are attacked by a sub or cv, you get a exp multiplier, could at least reward when you get super unlucky. I'd also discourage running away from objectives by having a exp modifier based on how long you spent so far away from the caps and a popup "you avoided cap circles all last game, do you know objective play is how your team wins matches" lol

yep if you play big juicy bb piniata everything focuses on you and its so annoying and then the aiming bug kicks in and you cant do shit and have to wait 30sec for next chance

Atlanta used to be my favorite ship. It was just goofy fun. Then the carrier rework hit and suddenly my baby was nerfed to nothing. Haven't played since.

Sub was last spotted 42 seconds before it was sunk. The final ASW was launched 10 s before him sinking, so 32 s after he was last spotted. Either the sub is an absolute potato who straightlined for a minute after going unspotted or CV ASW sees unspotted subs. Edit: Sub did a 180° turn while unspotted, he wasn't straightlining...

if a player of your caliber has no or little hope against cv's/ subs, what chance does an average player have against these two classes. i guess eventually wg will have to made hydro that actually detects subs? but i doubt it.

I feel your pain. I don't get the joy out of a lot of games as many are subscription, play to win and run by animals from the marketing departments.

Been having alot of "fun" fighting subs in CL's with depthcharges. You have so many counterplay options like, run away or get nuked by homing torpedoes. Great "fun".

Imagine playing des moines. Then it was a good ship that shred all CV planes, Denied all push with good position and firepower and removed DD with its radar. Now with subs and CV that negate your positional advantage including abundant of overmatch. She is literally unplayable at this point

Why do I feel that since subs are such a success story that they will introduce Pan-Asian subs with “improved” homing torpedo damage, y’a know that kind of good stuff
