Versailles is Visual Kei., which bands pick a Visual concept and write songs based on this. Versailles concept is that they are Baroque Era Vampires who wear French Rococo style inspired costumes.
Hey, thanks for checking out Versailles! They are my all-time fave band. Very theatrical, but absolutely brilliant players and songwriters. if it counts for anything, I've been playing music most my life and these guys really changed my perspective of guitar playing and writing--very Neo-Classical based and composed with similar harmony and complexity to Baroque/early Classical. Their whole aesthetic is kinda romantic vampires from Versailles (former French royal palace) and their lyrics mostly have that kind of dark Gothic romantic edge. They definitely have harder/faster music than this, though. Recommend, "Ascendead Master," "Aristocrat's Symphony," "Rose," "Silent Knight." You've already checked Lovebites, so if you were wondering about Power metal, or Symphonic power metal, that's it. Versailles have more of a Neo-Classical edge to them.
Power Metal lyrics are based on ficti, fantasy, literature or history Recommend Iron Maiden the Trooper. Dragonforce Through the Fire and Flames. Dio Rainbow in the Dark Yngwie Malmsteen Lack Star Live
Versailles is French, pronounced Verse eye. Power Metal is different from heavy metal. In that the emphasis is on Melodic structure over aggressive repatative beats. Power Metal goes back to the late 1960s. Bands like Richie Blacknores Rainbow, and Uraha Heap. Versailles is Melodic Symphonic Power Metal. Power Metal bands are Dio,Judas Priest, iron Maiden, Let me recommend a few more J Metal bands Aldious- do Dominator Live Radiant A O East. Lovebites Scream for Me live Daughters of the Dawn. Mary's Blood Marionette
Even though the main composer of the band does not want to have a label attached to it. I think (as many other fans) that their label is symphonic metal (classical instruments mixed with metal). This genre of music grew out of power metal (distinguished by keyboard and extremely fast playing by guitarists).
I'm surprised you reacted to Versailles. They have great guitarists and it is a Visual Kei band just like Ddexcore :) Sena from Jiluka knows Hizaki quite well. Power metal is more upbeat and epic than what you probably usually listen to. The band's visual concept refers to 17th-century vampires. This is where the poetry in the lyrics comes from:) I recommend another band playing power metal - Galneryus, songs "Destiny", ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-547IIAYYqdI.html, "Brutal spiral of emotions"www .ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-KgKP_wBRtMU.html . Be sure to see it live. And you reacted to Lovebites, it's the same genre of metal.
Im glad I could surprise you with the band. My first thought when I seen them was they definitely have a vampire like aesthetic. The way he was singing definitely felt like he was tryna put me under his spell to steal my blood 😂😂. Ill definitely give those bands a listen when I get home here soon. Currently I'm not sure how I feel about this band.
@@TwistedGunZ When it comes to Japanese vampires, I have been hypnotized by Wamps for a long time :) They are one of the older bands, they play vampire rock. Their songs are sometimes heavier and sometimes more pop. They're not a VK band, but the vampire vibe just floats around them. They toured the USA, but they are not a very popular band there, like most Japanese groups. If you have some time, you can check out "Evil" ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-v73Bh-etERg.html, or the ballad "Sweet dreams" ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-sHkw_0-DRyU.html. I will only add that this vocalist also sings in another Japanese band - L'Arc~en~Ciel (they play alternative rock), and L'Arc~en~Ciel is one of the biggest Japanese rock bands of the 1990s. I read in the comments that you dislike the singer (something I had an issue with my first couple of listens too). Check out the band Jupiter, same musicians different singer (and more power metal).
I dont know if id say I dislike the singer. Its just so different from what I kinda know. Im also aware its something that ill start familiarizing myself with the more I listen to it. Different music is usually met with hesitation for me. More often I find myself not caring for a song the first listen but after 2 or 3, I understand it and kind of appreciate it. I may experiment with them in the future.

If you want to check out a better power metal band thats a lil bit more heavier but not crazy heavy i suggest this band Ars Nøva "Raisøn D’être" Music Video There a newer band actually they have a keytar in this to
Ill definitely check them out. Iv never really heard of power metal before this band. Wasn't sure how to feel about it. I was talking to a coworker about it, he suggested "manowar" and I enjoyed them. I have a feeling I could like the subgenre of music, just gonna take a little to understand it.
@@TwistedGunZ yea this band versailles is a hit and miss for me like I like the musician ship in this band but not so much the singer just cause to me it feels like he's trying way to hard to sing a certain way if that makes sense
@@MrPenguin88 i agree. Im just rather new to Japanese music so I havent built up a catalog of bands to listen to etc. I can appreciate the musicianship but the singing is....different. I will admit I dont really have plans for another reaction of this band but then again, maybe other music of theirs might be better for me.
@MrPenguin88 I agree with what you said about Kamijo, the lead singer. He sees himself as a vampire (he specifically mentioned Lestat in an interview), and his singing veers into that image a little too much sometimes. There are times I wish he could let go of the showmanship and just sing, he has a great voice.
Yes, they are; and the visual kei genre really adds a special feel to the video. Very theatrical, elaborate, and beautiful - and this song in particular has a timeless vibe. (The video emphasizes that, with the clock running backwards.)
