Refusing to run down the same design path as the rest of the industry, Vertere has produced an aesthetically arresting design. Paul Rigby wonders how it sounds: www.vertereaco...
PRICE INFO: £2,750 (Plus a Vertere Magneto MM cartridge will retail for £2,850. Alternatively, bundled with an Audio-Technica OC9XML MC cartridge costs around £3,250. I’d advise going straight for a MC cartridge - the MM model will form an immediate bottleneck in a turntable like this. Personally, I’d spend around £700-£1,000+ for a MC model.)

Hi paul I hope they take notice of your concerns . for it seems they have a pretty good turntable in the making. And finally my I be so bold to ask just what the gizmo was that delayed your review . 😀Great video as always from your good self . Keep well , kind regards and best wishes from Mike in the U.K. 👍

Thanks Mike and sure :). It was a microphone amp. Still needs tweaking. I changed the location of the Closer Look section in this vid and how that is presented visually and aurally. Which is where the mic amp came in. Should be sorted in the next vid.

Thanks. I was thinking of buying one, but I decided I can’t live with its quirks. Seems like a missed opportunity to create a classic must have at this price point.

You're clearly rather fond of that Gryphon album at the moment 😁

It proved to be a good review tool and not all LPs are, to be honest. I'll be moving on from this one though, sadly. Lots of others to feature :)

I've been looking forward to you doing this review. To be honest, I love the aesthetics but I cant say i'd be happy with that tone arm for the reasons you stipulated. That speed button is ghastly and such a shame really as a TT so handsome should have a sleeker and more refined design. I still like it but I think they could tweak it so all elements of the table correlate to the high standard you would expect. Thank you for posting this. 😀

I have purchased this table and it looks great and has potential but out of the box these are some flaws I recognised. 1. There is a mechanical sound coming most likely from the silicon belt not matching the groove in the platter. Every 3-4s and it can be heard in room when not playing. Not accepted. 2.The arm lifter has a greasy noise every time I use it. It doesn’t remind you this is a high quality table so to say. 3. The arm never falls straight down where you want it to be meaning hitting the start of a track is nearly impossible. Will play around with anti skate some more. 4. The white LED is positioned in the front meaning it is too strong so I only use the speed light. Would have been a better experience if the full plexy light up and not 5mm. 5. One nut for added weight to the tone arm weight was mounted already even though all videos and pics show it without it. Not a word in the manual how to use these meaning is it ok having just on one side. Unbalanced? 6. Manual states you should lean it to the left when removing the transporting locking mechanics. But their online video tilts it to the right. Does it matter? If so they need to update information. All in all there are improvements needed to match the price. Hopefully I’m backed up by warranty and they can fix at least 1 and 2.

I'm very intrigued by this turntable, but there are too many little flaws that keeps me away from it. Like the cheap stands, the strange position of the powerbutton, the little vibrations of the belt that can be seen in the video, the material at the top of the platter isn't centered properly (also seen in the video) , the counterweight system looks cheap and seems too clumsy in operation, the tonearm transport screw looks cumbersome (why not a tiny hook that you can pivot down or something?) and the antiskate isn't clear in it's operation. Those are all tiny things, but they add up for me. Not acceptable for me for a TT in this pricerange. I hope they will make a MK2 someday.

How about doing a test of the Pioneer PLX 1000 turntable. Would be really interested to hear your views about this price of equipment.

Didn't NAD try a flat tonearm in the early 80s, only to drop the idea? I suspect the ostentatiously overdesigned styling will only put off potential customers, which is a pity since the DG-1 appears to be a sound piece of kit. Black acrylic's going to make it a fantastic dust magnet, too.
@richardsinger01
@richardsinger01 3 года назад
thisisnev you’re right about the dust - I have a “piano black” Pink Triangle LPT deck - no matter how often I clean it, it always seems dusty - even though I always keep the dust over closed. It looks lovely for a day after I’ve cleaned it though. (Maybe I need to clean the house more! )

No antiskate dial is bizarre!! Way too many bugs on this rig for the price.

This has got to be by far the ugliest turntable I have ever seen. I wouldn't even approach it if it was sold for 50€. I got no doubt about its capabilities but I would be disgusted every time I put a record on the platter. Great review though, thanks !

Interestingly the Michell Orbe controller uses green light for 33 and red for 45 rpm. So it's been done before. The switch on this TT is a bad joke in design and the feet look insubstantial. This is after all still an expensive deck even if budget in the Vertere world. It's just too quirky and I'm not sold on the looks or how robust this will be long term. Being a Toraj design it's going to sound good but I think it needs some revision and look forward to a Mk II. Unfortunately Vertere brand is very pricey but this is almost too innovative in an attempt to produce something that is relatively affordable while maintaining much of the quality available from their more expensive models.

Classicrock My LPT turntable also has a green/red led to indicate speed. In 1994 or whenever it was I can remember being very impressed - I’d never seen a colour changing led before!
@Balooba11
@Balooba11 3 года назад
Rega also use green and red colors but red for 33 and green for 45. It's not a problem really. if you cannot understand green is 33 and red is 45 after using it twice then I'm afraid you just look for problems.
@markpreston3406
@markpreston3406 3 года назад
ditto anyone who's used/owns a Roksan player (who'll no doubt be looking at this deck considering its lineage), green for 33, red for 45 as always..

If you can't see what speed the turntable is running at, then you need another turntable. Spending more than one minute on totally nonsensical stuff affects the value of the review.
