Thanks for the comment brother.. it means a lot.. The water stopper is embedded to half of its depth while concrete pouring.. starters are then made after the layout.. the water stopper is already there before the starters
As column is a compression member and I have seen different structure designers using different places of laps i.e just over floor slab or in center of the of column. Does it really effect column load taking capability if we place lap anywhere ?
Thanks for the comment brother.. yes it does make a difference.. column is not a perfectly compressional member.. specially when taking lateral loads like earthquake or wind.. then the column beam joints becomes critical.. so the overlap should be away from the column beam joint.. imagine the building moving sideways in earthquake.. the joints have a lot of load.. so the steel must be continuous there.. this is why new research and codes ask us to place the laps away from the joints..
