What is the material that beams with red light? By the light which is coming through with matierial you can see LCD flex lines on microscope camera. 4:08 that white tape which touch hot bar thermode - what is its function/role and what is that tape called?

I've been looking at these. My regular vendor doesn't want to sell to me until I have had formal training with it. Is it really that difficult? I refurbish broken glass displays on iPhone 7 all the way to Galaxy S7 Edge. This couldn't be more difficult than that.
