We always kept at minimum one SC/PT SINCGARS preset for emergency use, ie MEDEVAC with an allied military that you don't have comms with. But of course that's for absolute emergencies when SHTF. SC/PT in an operational setting are used on TSM/TSM-X nets in military operations-- Special Operations were the pioneers in TSM. See Thales/Trellisware/Silvus radios. Btw, on SINCGARS, it's Cipher Text (CT), not "Secure Communications". "secure communication (SC)" and "single channel (SC)" just sounds confusing.
