Very BROKEN cabinet rebuild!

When I got this cabinet, almost everything wanted to fall apart. In this video you will see, how I fix this Art Noveau cabinet.
This piece was made around 1910-1930 period, in Estonia. It doesn´t have fancy details. Only the glass section hints, that this was made in Art Noveau period. Originally they had only clear coat, but my client wanted darker version, so I had to stain it. Some versions of this cabinet had Art Noveau style carvings on the doors.

Really! Now 'outed' as a tool and die maker. Your skill level across the board has me hooked on these videos of yours. Keep the quiet 'watch as I do this' format. Your narration is spot on and It keeps the viewer glued (maybe literally!) Master Craftsman and redeemer of furniture. The wannabe's couldn't touch these pieces. After binge watching several, this is the comprehensive video on rebuilt from the floor up and it still looks like an antique. Wow.

Fashioning a drawer handle from a nail was genius enough, but then brass plating it with heat a a brass wire brush. My gob is well and truly smacked, thank you so much!

Brings back memories. I had a furniture refinishing shop for years. We repaired, rebuilt, refinished and even built some furniture. At least the person didn't paint the piece. That's about all you see in recent years. It requires no skill.

Hard (impossible?) to tell new wood from old. And that broken handle repair - including the brass plating - was amazing. I assume the insects were long gone before you got the cabinet. Or did you have it fumigated? I’m doing some work on termite damaged exterior cladding and all I can do is cut off and replace any ground contact pieces and soak the rest in multiple coats of an insecticide treatment - and hope for the best. Thanks for the video.

@Robert Bamford try using “Bifenthrin” it’s strong enough to do the job on the termites, and mild enough to use on dogs, cows, horses, etc Always follow instructions for mix rates and application techniques.
