Scott, hi from your Utah fan! Thanks for showing me some real NY storms. We were in Saratoga Springs from 8/22 through 8/27 and had bupkes! No thunderstorms. When we came home we had a massive Salt Lake City storm though....4 lightning strikes with anemic thunder and an amazing 45 seconds of rain. I'm glad I can see storms through your lens.
Thanks Brandon! This storm definitely was more electrical than most storms we get here in NYC. With the very high temperatures and dewpoints in place, there was a lot of available instability around! Basically this is a typical South Florida pattern we're in right now.
The rain washed away the fear of lightning and thunder. The thunderclaps were very loud and heavy. 0:32 thunderclap was a sudden and unexpected Massive sound.
I was living in Flushing in June 1975 when a wild storm came through . Later that day as it moved south over Queens the storms passed over the approach for JFK and a windshear hit an Eastern Air Lines 727 about to land and it hit the approach lights and broke apart killing everyone on board.
this is the kind of stuff we miss out on in coastal S. CA. maybe once every 10 to 20 years we will get ONE thunderstorm like this if not a bit weaker. This storm looked remarkably green for a video. So I'm surprised there wasn't any hail.
Weather has been nuts here in the south with this stalled low pressure. So cool. But wow hun the sounds are awesome and the lightning!! Love your accent!!
Thanks for watching! :) And haha, glad you liked my accent. You can definitely tell I'm from New York City. And yes, the south has really been getting nailed with flooding rains, especially around the Florida Panhandle!
Scott McPartland - Extreme Weather Photography yeah I'm in BAMA. But had many loved ones in Louisiana that lost EVERYTHING. Need as many good vibrations, prayers, whatever is good. Thanks hun.
that was a very electric storm even by standards in the Southeast. awesome! that one really close strike reminds me of the video I shot on July 24th. wow, amazing storm!
This year wasn't going all that well for us either, but so far we've seen a handful of good storms over the last 3 weeks. Hoping we'll see some more over the coming days. We're in a South Florida type pattern right now, so more pop up storms are likely. Hope you guys get in on some good storms soon as well.
Very impressive lightning! I was hoping this storm would reach my area as well but it took a turn NE, and BTW a severe storm rolled over your area just yesterday 8/12/16 with most likely a ton of lightning!
We did have a few good storms pass nearby us on the 12th, but not directly over me. Still close enough though for me to see the lightning which was great!
The Katie, OK tornado on May 9th, 2016? Yeah, we weren't out in the midwest yet and missed that event. We left for our trip a few days later. The footage from that day was pretty amazing.
Hi Scott wow now that is a very bad thunderstorm and very close lightning strikes as well however in the uk is very nice weather in Brighton btw did you watch my thunderstorm video yet? If not please have a look at the 2 video TC Scot
Great video, excellent thunderstorm, best one of the year so far, like you said Scott, definately a highlight for sure, and sure we should have more like these I have my own, (yours is better and shorter than mine, I'm not good at editing shorter clips) of this very storm please watch it thanx.
Definitely one of the best storms of the year for us, you're right about that Alisa. Hopefully there will be more to come over the coming days with all this heat and humidity.
@@ScottMcPartlandNYC for sure I'm in Port St Lucie had awesome shots of structures and some lightning photos and videos here in the lightning capital of the US ......right now im waiting for a storm approaching from the west
I loved this storm yesterday!! The CG's was simply incredible! Definitely my 3rd favorite thunderstorm during this summer. I was outside recording this storm as well and I uploaded on my channel. Wish I had the type of editing program like you have and a better camera to get the CG's in perfect HD but, I'll make due with the digital camera I have and my cell phone until I upgrade to a better camera. Check out my video when you get the chance man.
it was not, but it certainly was intense that's for sure. We had a severe thunderstorm warning out for this storm, and flash flood watches/warnings around the area this day as well. Thanks for watching.
All lightning will generate thunder, but the sound of it definitely differs depending on your location and proximity to that lightning. Hard to say exactly what it would sound like as each bolt of lightning, and your location in relation to it is different each time. Thanks for watching!
@@ScottMcPartlandNYC usually the more lighting strikes means stronger updrafts. Stronger updrafts means stronger downdafts , hail and wind. When its rumbly or sounds like a jet plane roaring it indicates weaker cells and the strongest cells if there are any went south or north of a location..
