I remember really wanting this doll when she 1st came out -- her name was Crissy. She had a big protruding knob sticking out of her back that you'd turn to make her hair grow (or shorten). I never got her (too expensive at the time) but the following year I did get a Barbie that also had retractable hair. Barbie was more advanced -- instead of a big knob on her back she had a small (indented) button -- when you pressed it while pulling on her ponytail it would grow -- press again (without pulling) & the ponytail would get sucked back into her head. I know, I know, sounds weird but at the time it was the latest & greatest in toys. ☺☺
