When Munky is describing the first time he heard Van Halen and how he didn't really get it.... That's exactly how I felt when I first heard Korn's debut album back in the 90's.... I just didn't understand it, hadn't heard anything like it before, it just sounded so raw, dark and disjointed somehow but... funky at the same time. Little did I know how much I'd grow to love it!
grahamt19781 Like Munky I too was shocked how bizarre and great Van Halen was when I first heard their music. But I also felt that about first hearing Blind in 1995. I saw them live in a 500 capacity venue in Shreveport, La in '96. The whole audience was stunned and shocked with jaws locked open for the first few songs. Nobody had heard or seen anything like it before. I saw them again in Texas Stadium for '99 Summer Sanitarium Tour. Korn put the crowd into total mayhem way more than any of the other bands including Metallica.
Same when i saw them open for Ozzy in in Nashville in 95. I was 14 and when Blind started i was like wtf is this..... After their 30 minute set i was hooked.
Ever since I was a kid, I’ve always loved Munky. I love his vibe and even the sound of his voice is so appealing. Definitely one of my childhood crushes behind Johnny Depp of course.
"It's heavy metal...you don't need a lot of talent"...Head "Yeah that's so much distortion and reverb over everything no body know or cares any more." Munky
Eddy Arifin .. and head.. is possibly the most talented " musician in the band.. " talent " has nothing to do with great songs, reaching people, energy and down right feeling. Much to do with connecting with the others.. that is their sound.
Bullshit the drums and bass are where the whole groove is. Head is just solid and his playing is just what it needs to be. But the bass is more important in Korn
The way how Munky describes his experience listening to Van Halen is exactly word by word how I felt when I first listened to Freak on a Leash and then I couldn't stop listening to it.
It's so fucking awesome to see these guys back together, with their shit together and enjoying life. Not only that but they're still producing amazing music. They're so humble and REAL as well, I love the comment about distortion covering up mistakes etc. I hope they must keep going until they're 90.
Munky is my spirit animal. he's just so chill and easy going. he seems like the type of person who in every situation, like, in stressful situations, he's just cool as a cucumber. he's my second favorite member. my first is Jon, my second Munky, my third, Head, my fourth David (i know he's not part of KoRn any more, but i just like him more than Ray. nothing's really wrong with Ray, but David had more personality than Ray, not dissing Ray though) and my fifth is Feildy. i don't hate him, he just so happened to be that last one on my list, because that's the order it goes in.
What makes the gus of koRn so lovely is that they still behave young and they r honest,...not some of the bloody posing modern bands with an attitud. they r ust koRn and talkative.. heck the clip where head explains their style and wow he is so funny....
Because he's happy and healthy ....living the sober life!! If you haven't already seen it you should check out the documentary that was recently released it's called LOUD CRAZY LOVE
Myth. You actually have to keep dreads really clean or they wont lock at all, & you'll be miserable. Head probably has the most maintained hair of them all. He actually gets his professionally maintained in a salon (check out his instagram). If you dont maintain them (free form), they look more like Munky & Jon's loose dreads. Anyway, everybody washes. 😝
I totally agree with Head when he said Blind is his favorite song to play live it’s my favorite one to hear life for the same reasons he mentioned. The intro, the energy, the simplicity. Everything about that song is just so good and when they play it live the whole crowd goes nuts. Love that song
@@palainanoctem3776 same here ive been to Metallica in 2004 in Amsterdam Netherlands line up whas Slipknot then Korn and main act whas Metallica whas such a great concert
Bro munky is hilarious he does yoga and stretches plays guitar for 30 mins which is understandable but then he's on the shitter for 45 minutes he probably does take the longest but we still love u munky🤘🔥
I've always thought the guys in Korn seemed super down to earth and fun dudes since waaaaaaaay back when my older brother bought a vhs they put out like before even follow the leader came out. Watching this all these years later, they still seem super cool to me.
just saw alice in chains open up for korn and aic was already spiritual but when the curtain dropped all you see are dreads and dadundadaun it was indescribable
Bloody hell.....seen Korn so often on festivals......If I knewed at this time Babymetal was Pre-Show I would skip the fkn hospital with my broken leg and tramp right to the concert!
honestly - I understand that poop one. I do not like to be excited, stressed or happy and feeling like to take a shit. Shitting is fantastic. Before sex, before breakfast, nefore having a longer ride, before taking a shower, before work, before performing (I do body paint), before gardening or before going to bed,... let it all go...
Met these two a lot if times as a kid. I am 38 now...but they were always amazing and always took the time to make the moment amazing for a 16 year old kid. I don't give a fuck if they switched to pop. Fan for life and those little things turned out big for me. I imagine the same thing has happened to a slew of kids...new fans and old.
You actually don't need 2 hands to drive on the highway. You're more likely to make a mistake that way because you are able to turn the wheel further than you should. There is no point in time when it's okay the jerk the wheel, so one hand is fine as long as you are paying attention.
Got to see them live when my teachers' band 7 Days Of May opened up for them along with Chevelle and many others for the velocity tour in Tucson, Arizona about 17 years ago or around that time I think haha. I was right in front of Head and flipped him off, and he returned the favor. If I'm not mistaken, I believe it was right around their greatest hits album. It was an amazing concert at the Pima County fairgrounds
Head should be the vocalist for Korn instead of Johnathan lol. I can't believe they like Nacho Libre 😭 that's my favorite movie of all time I know all the lines to the movie
The first song i heard from them is Shoots & Ladders, inside a shopping mall, a music CDs & cassette tapes store owner played it and i was blown away with how the bagpipe intro turned into heavy guitar riffs.
