We've seen for years how lethal Kane is dropping deep, with Son running in behind. England were at their best when Kane could play in Rashford/Sterling/even Saka.
I’ve never seen Kane be lethal. Are you talking about when it doesn’t matter? Then you might have a point. He’s a passenger, never been a winner, he’s not that guy.
Kane is getting on in years…He’s well past his best, irrespective of how well he played for Bayern Munich this past season. He needs to be put out to grass!!
If ETH was the manager, they'd win the bloody tournament. If ET (Dortmund manager last year, has brought out a lot of quality in Sancho and Bellingham before) was the manager, they'd win the bloody tournament as well. They don't need a fucking Jürgen Klopp, they just need a manager who can teach them very basic tactics, offensively and defensively. Imho
We’re getting the same productivity from Saka. We lack naturally width playing directly. Never once saw Saka and Foden switch. Why Gordon doesn’t get minutes I don’t know.
How do they get the permission, to have there Studio on that location? I think there are some big England Fans in the authority of Berlin! Greetings from just outside Berlin
I'm kinda glad they're seeing this for what it is, if Foden's shot goes in we have the same old analysis: "Job done, performance doesn't matter", we don't pass the eye test and we haven't for a while, we'll get to the quarters and be knocked out without a true chance of beeting anyone top 10. I am surprised how quickly they crossed over though because they've backed him so long.
Much different this time, because those games were a massive overreaction. Scotland and USA offered very little against us, but Denmark were by far the better team
Wharton is ideal to play as the holding midfielder. His passing is pinpoint & he is so calm on the ball. Kane did zero pressing & as many pundits mentioned he shd be dropped. Mitchell or Chilwell are left footed lbs & it's a joke we have a rb playing at lb.
Sometimes feels like we play Kane just so that he can hit his career goal numbers. For one game, start the young guns and bring Harry on for the last 25minutes if we're up.
What Harry Kane said about ex England players , he is 100% right. I have certainly lost respect for these experts on Sky and BBC. The so called journalists , ex players remember their criticism is based on when they played which is years ago.
Its sad to see two of England best all-time strikers are on the commentary box instead of still being in the pitch for their country. But what to do, we have plans but The Almighty has other plans and nothing can supersedes that. Hopefully England will produce even better strikers than these two great strikers in the future.
I’m not surprised at all. English league is not the strongest one for sure. Spanish German Italian and French are much stronger and more important better for young players and development. This English Team even proofs that as the best English stars are playing abroad (Foden is an exception). There is no way they can compete with Spain Germany France or Italy. Technically they can’t stand with them, Physically possible, Tactically no, Mentally big no. Money don’t make you the best League or best Team. Every tournament shows that and the gap between the best and England is getting bigger and bigger
The Italian team that beat you in the final was the worst Italian team for decades Spain and Germany have also been really poor the last 6 years not to mention Brazil
Wow... English pundits are brutal when it comes to their team. Even harsher than the Germans. But both Alan and Gary make good arguments here. It was a frustrating game when you hope for England to go far.
to be fair, Shearer was great in 96, and that England team were neck and neck with Germany until the penalties, they went down fighting and they never gave the ball away as much as this current team. Lineker was also an unlucky loser in a semi final in WC.
International football is an easy game: look at your potential, select the three best goalkeepers, four central defenders etc. Then look at their strengths and weaknesses and fill in the eleven dots. It isn't rocket science. A static centre forward needs pace and depth around him. A big, but not to fast, centre back needs to be accompanied by one with pace etc.
It's time these pundits called Southgate out. He is the problem, nothing else. Now go and grow a spine and tell the truth for once ffs. My grand could get a tune out of this lot.
No fighting spirit in the team. Belllingham is mostly walking around like he does in Real Madrid. Its very frustrating that they dont use their skills for the best of England. Its the coach/boss responsibility to get the best out of the players. He has to hit the right button. This is not to take the responsibility away from the players. They need to step up and start fighting in every area of the field.
It is very very simple. England has good overall players with individual "superpowers". Its the task for the opponent to neutralize those "superpowers" to win against them. But if they play/must play in ways they can't use their powers...
If lamel was English he would've never played for england because they would've said he's to young & inexperience but look at Spain they trust their young players
Having played at a pretty good level my thoughts are we have a negative manager, the tactics are too defensive, too. With how deep they play I dont agree they need 2 holding midfielders. I also dont think we have enough quality to pass through a high press and get pushed too far back. I dont think there is enough energy and pace in the centre. I have never been a big fan of Kane myself, not a hater just not my type of striker. Would prefer Foden in the middle and Watkins too. Or just Foden on his own. Spain won Euros in 2012 without Torres and Villa....
Shearer is such a sell out. A man of incredible pride and always been admired for his strength of character in backing his own.... Listen to him now. Faking his media energy too.
Not be mean or anything but I've been following English tournament expectations for quite a while, and you always seem to believe that this time everything's going to be different, and then it's not... As a German I would recommend the German approach: Assume that your team pretty much sucks and be happy when it doesn't. It's... I mean, okay, it's not great. But it makes for more positive rather than negative surprises.
Whatever anyone says about his lack of ideas, courage or tactical understanding, you have to admit that Southgate's woke credentials are impeccable and that's the most important thing. I mean no other team can take the knee like England can . . . Linneker should be ecstatic.
Prediction for the Slovenia game. Joe Gomez, him the GOAT, lest we forget, to break his duck off the bench with a bicycle kick from the halfway line set up by Bukayoko. How's that?
Ego/stubbornness is also another factor. Southgate has played this negative style for a long time, and by playing mostly garbage teams, he's been allowed to get away with it. I think he'll play exactly the same style/players against Slovenia, get a convincing win, and these same pundits will be back to giving him a metophorical reacharound.
The Danes knew if they stopped Saka on the Wing stopped our play, good play by Walker, understood placing of Ball (experience) robbed Ball supercool, therefore 1-0. Scary game, felt like England where a championship side, Long ball ☹️, always wrong_,playing style not how they normally play, still 3 teams in group have chance in group too actually efter group stage win tournament
Look how they calm they are because they are talking about their compatriot 🤡🤡 if it's another non-british coach, they will be fuming, making further analysis, etc. lol.
I wonder if the French media will slaughter their performance tonight because it was pretty abysmal.Yes Mbappe was missing but there was no pressing, 15 minutes to go and they basically watched the dutch defenders playbit side to side for 1 minute without any French player moving towards them, pathetic. Dembele so frustrsting, id guess his balls into the area that actually find a team mate is about 30%, and when he does have a shot it usually sails over the bar. And Depay for the Dutch is even worse.
No one views Southgate as a top manager. He stumbled into the job. And he has done a good job stabilising the team but he's not the one to take the team to the next level.
We've known this for years yet we allowed him another chance at a major tournament. It's unacceptable to not have won a major tournament with the quality we have
@JD-hx7yd you probably say this because we're England. If Spain, Germany or France had the talent we've had the past 6 years, they'd be EXPECTED to win a tournament
Deeper than Southgate. The amount of great teams we’ve had since ‘66 yet the same old story. It’s a mentality thing imo, and yeah most managers haven’t really helped much
Not a single drunken idiot across the entire nation turned to his mate at any point during that ninety minutes of hell and muttered the words “what we need is prime Kalvin Phillips back”.............. Jesus Christ, how is this man managing the best group of England players in decades
It's truly infuriating. How can you be excited knowing we've watched 180 mins of England playing putrid, monotonous football. Hopefully we get even Graham Potter or any coach that's attack-minded after the Euros.
@@andrewoliver8930 Thank you brother im 33 i remember when he took over and made them even worse from that middle-of-the-table team he has no credentials
Interesting that pre game he spoke about the English media having an impact on the players/manager. Has been two bad performances but other nations are together whereas this country is all about blaming, I think foreign managers recognise which is why we won’t see a Capello again
Kane has been awful. No energy, no pace, no passing, no dribbling, no real pressing… no shooting threat. Never seen an England striker offer so little over two matches
Kane has expended all his energy playing for Bayern Munchen..He is finished as a footballer, and will not perform to the same standard next season! England needs to replace him permanently!
Get a goal ,park the bus,,, Southgates coaching Manuel,,,101,,,then the other side scores first, then Southgate tactics are , let's defend there one nil lead,,,,
From world cup, nation league through to Euro 2024, if you still think Southgate is good to manage England team, is insanity. All these pundits still talking about the players, where it's so obvious Southgate is clueless. No strategy and that's why the link up among the players is so poor.
Credit to Alan Shearer for being so blunt and to the point. I had started to think I must be going mad. Hang on a minute I am mad, mad as an hatter at the whole set up!!
Kane dropping deep works at club level because of the players he plays with that look after the ball really well. England don’t do that, everything is very basic.
Kane englands problems are playing Arnold in midfield, Foden on the left and trippier on the left, the team is unbalanced and lacks control in midfield.
To me it’s simple. I think good solid players that are functional but compared to other winning nations…. No footballing IQ. Players like Griezman, Yamal, Pedri, Musialla… it’s not just technique they have but they also have footballing brains and beat you with speed of thought as much as technique / control.
It’s not just about technique or ability. Sometimes the opposition just flat out work harder, in and out of possession. Ability helps but hard work accounts for a lot too
How serious they take it and how disappointed they are getting makes me laugh. And I say that as a football fan myself. These things happen. We don’t need the huge analysis, in serious tones as if it’s some kind of a humanitarian disaster 😐😂 That’s far more pathetic than the performance was.
Do the players play well for their clubs? If the answer is yes, then the manager is to blame. It's not rocket science, Southgate doesn't tell them to attack he is so worried about the other team scoring that he has made them scared to attack. He is fearful you can see in in his eyes. He's so frightened of what might go wrong and never concentrates on what might go right for us.
@@davidhuggan6315 True. I was astonished how weak they were. On the other hand, spain was technically strong and me as a german prefer to lose against switzerland to rank second. It would be an easyier quarterfinal. But anyway, when you want to win the cup, you must beat everone.
@@davidhuggan6315 Oh how nice. I am frpm hamburg and my twin sis lives in Sydney since 2002. On june 02nd my nephew from sydney visit me here and we are looking forward to watch games together. Many greets to down under and good luck!!
This charlatan coach got found out two tournaments ago, and he still hasn't been replaced! Has this fourth rate manager got naughty pics on some high ups at the FA? This is ridiculous!
Kane has dropped deep almost as a false 9 for half a decade not sure what the surprise is… The biggest problem is the lack of a left back. There’s no width on that side and the attack is lopsided. It’s easy to defend
Everyone is blaming the manager, the players are the ones to blame. These guys are pros, they shouldn't need to be motivated and micromanaged. Great teams don't need to managed. The players are disengaged. They don't care to represent their country, just want to go back to play for their clubs.
@@andrewoliver8930 To be honest he should have taken Rashford and Grealish. I know Rashford has had a terrible sseason but he turns up for England.. this whole 'form' stuff is bullshit
@user-id8dm2co1f I'd agree with taking Grealish. Taking favourite players must annoy the players like Cole Palmer, etc, who have been good all season. Palmer must be peed off seeing the crap we produce and not being given a go. Gallagher hadn't been as good as Palmer, yet gets more of a chance.
Southgate and David Moyesball are the same type of football. Shearer says one thing about Southgate and another about his coaching badge mate Moyesball - Hypocrite
