After the Beatle lessons its amazing how vapid these modern licks seem.

Always look forward to your video and lessons. I have only started playing about 3 years ago when I retired so enjoy picking up the little tips and techniques. Also a massive Beatles fan.

Hi Mike, you did an excellent work for Gibson tutorials but sadly all that useful videos disappear. I really like your Jimi Hendrix cover with that Gibson Cherry. Thx

Right on. Well explained. It’s got that “tube driven” sound. Music stores have not been the same since Thoroughbred Music on 22nd and Hillsborough. They are more like car dealerships now...... rock on.

Hey Mike! Huge fan, you are literally the best Beatles interpreter out there. Hearing you play with all this gain and delay is cool! Quick bone to pick- A to G is not a “dominant seventh” it is a min7. Dom 7 refers to the chord built on the 5th degree. ( you know this lol!) but for the kids ;)
@MPfrance
@MPfrance 3 года назад
Steve Manning - Thanks for the kudos. Not sure what you think you heard - but I never said that A to G is a dominant 7th. I refer to the G BEING the dominant 7th in the key of A.

Joel Swieca - Thanks! She's a one-of-a-kind Buscarino "Pachelli." Gifted to me by master luthier John Buscarino back in 1995. I helped design the body - it's somewhere between a Fender Stratocaster & Mustang. Basswood body, Birds eye maple neck, gaboon ebony fretboard. The pickups are - 1965 PAF in the neck, 1963 Strat in the middle, and a Seymour Duncan JB at the bridge. Sperzel locking tuners and an 80's Kahler whammy. I'm playing straight into the LEAD channel of a Roland CUBE Street EX.

Hello, sir. I know that you're a proffessional, so you make intermediate tutorials. But I'm a beginner and I'd appreciate it if you made some beginner Beatles' tutorials as well. If you could just consider it. You're an amaing teacher. Despite being a beginner, I watch your videos and they're great. Thank you.

Hey Mike, I bought a 1964 Gretsch Country Gentleman in 1983, right before I left for Berklee. I sold it in 1993 because my band needed a P.A. upgrade. Most of the ones (1960-67) I am finding now have "binding rot". If they don't , they cost $5,000 up, too much to chance at gigs. Can you recommend a reissue that is good? Also i did find a 1977 Gretsch Super Axe, (great shape with all elect. working) what do you know about them?
@MPfrance
@MPfrance 3 года назад
Dave Vann. Thanks for the kudos. You’re right about the old Gretsches. The binding always falls off. The Japanese re-issue Gretsch country classic is fantastic! I highly recommend it.

Great tips as always ! I'm lookin' at your nut (OK laugh) seems you have some type of foam pad at the nut, is that to dampen false overtones or buzz or is that a zero fret issue, can't tell if there is one ?
@MPfrance
@MPfrance 3 года назад
Bernie Guardell - It's an old sock cuff I cut. (It REALLY is) lol - Occasionally I get asked to do a session and they want me to play WAY TOO MANY notes in a sort of Allan Holdsworth type of style. It's easier to mute (strings I'm not playing) with the sock just slightly touching the open strings (right after the nut) than to use left and right hand muting whilst playing those real fast legato lines. That's the only time I use the sock. :-)

Since I'm not nearly as advanced as your other listeners are it would need nice of you showed a real slowed down version of the lick. At least in the beginning. Thanks
