I realize this video is nearly two years old, but I want to congratulate you on doing such an excellent review. Many reviews are done lazily, consisting of nothing more than a GoPro strapped to the rider's helmet as he or she rides. You took the time to point out the features, on and off the bike, with thoughtful comments on the good and bad. Well done, and thanks for all the time you put into it.
Nice video review of the Vespa. I have a 2010 Vespa GTS 300 and I love it! When I put gas in it, I put the nozzle deep into the tank, then it will shut off when the gas reaches the nozzle. I also put a small rag around the opening of the tank, just in case some does spill - the rag will catch it. Happy Riding!
Delete side stand and rubber floor mat permanently. Use fuel cap to hold up the back of the underwear storage tub. It will keep gas from going in there. Only use stations that let you fill your own if possible and line filler nozzle up straight from the back, never sideways. Goes I’m further and properly aligned with tank. I use first position on fuel handle and have no spill
Yo tengo una Vespa 300 Sei Giorni (básicamente igual a la tuya), y para evitar el derrame de gasolina, levanto un poco la caja del motor y pongo el tapón del tanque en ese pequeño espacio, de esta forma la gasolina derramada se va al motor, y no a la caja. Saludos y felicidades por tus videos
I have the same scooter. Also have had problems filling it with gas. I have realized that each bar on the dash is about 1 litre. So now if i am down 4 bars, i put in 4 litres, works pretty well.
Floormat: maybe there is a removable undercoating that you could apply first. Then at a later date you can remove the floormat and undercoating for a new floor, for a couple years more.
I would have gotten the color matched Vespa top box. Expensive, but sure does look nice. Seat is a subjective thing. I would have gotten a black seat with white piping, with matching white piping on the backrest on the top box. That color seat will get dirty and stained real easy. The way I put gas in mine is to carry a 1 quart powerade bottle and small funnel. Because you cannot get the tank full without splashing it all over, I fill The Powerade bottle with gas, and using the small funnel, finish filling the tank. I have the emissions hose on the fuel filler removed and plugged. The idea of not being able to get the tank completely full does not sit well with me. Maybe you don't have to, but we have to deal with the EPA in the U.S. I have the floor mat. The paint is going to get scratched either way. You can replace the mat when it starts looking bad. You are lucky you did not get stuck with an HPE model, which requires twice as much maintenance as the regular GTS.
I have the rubber floor-mat too, the guy at the shop said to remove the rubber strips that are on the foot plate of the bike before putting the mat down. That'll give you a more secure fit and hopefully fewer scratches.
Back in 1973 I rented a 125 vespa 🛵 while touring Greece and have been attracted to the twist and go no shifting way of cheap trouble free transportation for many years now. I am over 60, got this problem called honey skinny ass with larger than should be belly bulge problem, meaning will my butt be comfortable atop this scooter? Security, You think it worth the extra bucks to buy the 70th anniversary model? I sure like the colors and the rear case! You did real well making this informative video... Good on ya! te lo escribo en español...tuve el mismo problema con mi vespa GTS SS. Pero lo solucioné. Sólo tienes que poner la manguera bien adentro del estanque y ahí corta automáticamente.
Diego Amestica sabes no sé si depende de la bomba de gasolina. Pero si tienes razón es necesario meter por completo la boquilla al tanque y de esa forma tratar de que se detenga de forma automática. Ese vídeo fue de la primera vez que le puse gasolina. Me dio mucho coraje 😒
Me pasó varias veces...y da mucho coraje pero descubrí que si te aseguras que la boquilla de la manguera esté entera a dentro del estanque...corta automáticamente.
lifewithabox I'm using the Nolan N44. It's a pretty cool helmet as it has multiple configurations. I also installed the N-COM B5 to the helmet and works great.
That is not the same helmet that is in the carrier. You show that you have a small jet helmet in there, could you let us know the make and model of that helmet.
Hi, thanks for the video; can you tell me which screen you have please? I bought a 2016 GTS 300 today and had a long fast ride along a dual carriageway and felt I really could do with some wind protection, thanks

Manuel wiesmüller yes, the GPS data is from a Sony Action Cam HDR AS 100 v. Make sure GPS option is ON in the camera. The overlay with the map and speed is done with the PlayMemories software from Sony. You need to post process the video within the software by adding the GPS info.
Never use floor mats as they make a perfect environment for grit to cause scratches to develop. Never use the side stand as it is a pile of shit and flips up unaided and when filling gas tank, lift pet carrier/baby bath up to sit proud of the filler hole and it tends reduce overfilling problem. Otherwise sweeeeeeeet!
1] where are you located at generally. 2] I can be wrong but I think their is that color spray on bed liner coating thus able to remove the plastic cover for dirt protection thus elimination the damage to the paint and the permenate spray on color coded coating just wash off the dirt. just wondering what did it cost and where did you get it. stright from manufacture or dealer. and what is the weight limit for the socks in relation to riding two individuals that is weight 550 pounds each. I have set down on scooters then the socks allowed going down on the tires thus unable to move. suggest that you add direct email contact for private communications. thank you for your time.
Vee Ganjavian thanks for your comments, I used a Sony HDR AS 100, in conjunction with the PlayMemories software from Sony. This camera has integrated GPS.
Arturo Ayala todavía tengo las 2 la Tenere y la Vespa. Sabes recomiendo las dos. La Tenere un poco burda pero con una suspensión increíble y la Vespa con una suspensión buena pero un motor y chasis de calidad. Ambas se disfrutan de forma diferente. Gracias por tus comentarios y saludos.
yo tengo una mp3 500 8600 millas y estoy pensando cambiar por una de estas ? vespa 300gs hpe . a me gusta la mia . pero es un dolor de cabesa deficil conseguir las piesas y nadie quirre trabajar meacanica con ella por las 3 ruedas perro corre bien potente piaggio mp3 500 .
La verdad estamos igual, aquí en Qro solo hay un centro de servicio y llevan 2 meses en espera de una refacción. La moto es muy buena, cómoda etc, pero en cuestión de centros de servicio es un problema.
I have the same vespa. It happened to me the same also when filling with fuel however you will avoid this problem inserting the filling pistol very deep into the tank. Let me know how it goes with this advice.
Jose Antonio Cordova I wasn't aware of that...I wonder why the 'Forza' would be excluded? I remember when the 'Vespa' had a large following in the U.S. in the late '50's and early '60's...and Honda began to erode their 'market share' starting in '64. The 'Cub' and 'Super Cub' were and remain the 'ultimate in simplicity & reliability' and were vastly superior in terms of reliability over the Vespa. (Honda was the leader in 'electric starting' then...even the 50cc was available with an electric starter!) The only reason 'Vespa' lost-out on what was 'their' market was technology and price...the Vespa was far too over-priced and too lacking in advancement...Piaggio 'sat on their hands' for twenty years, and lost the American market which was exclusively 'Vespa' until Honda hit the U.S. and people bought them by the many thousands! My first bike was a '68 Honda 90cc 'Super Cub' (the 'CM90') and it was just under $300 with tax!!! I beat hell out it as a teen...and never once did it fail to start or run for three years! Years later I bought a Vespa P200 'E' new...and it was such a pain in the ass I sold it for less than half what it cost new in only a year! 'Cold weather start?' Forget it! Fuel-vapor lock from overheat? Yeah...constantly in summer! Crankcase leakage? Yeah...even when new! Ignition problems and plug-fouling??? ALL the time! 'Vespa' itself hurt sales...and Honda 'finished them off'.
Gerry Nightingale Honda doesn't sell most of its products in all countries. In my place the only scooter that we get from Honda is a model which they released in 2000.
The scooter market in Mexico is limited, you can either get 150 cc or less or the larger scooters like the Tmax. For some reason in between in the 300 cc range only the Vespa. Honda offers a model called Cruising 125cc and Yamaha a Cygnus 125cc. Recently Yamaha started offering the Nmax 150 cc but as I mentioned it's limited.
mrbigtime81 it all comes down to the style you like the most, either the classic look of the Vespa or the more modern look of the Xmax 300. The Xmax 300 is not sold in Mexico so I haven't tried it, but I own a Yamaha Tenere 250, and it's a nice engine for its size.
Hi, I have a 300GTS and I have ridden it HARD for 9000km...it is the most underestimated motorcycle. It stops goes and handles amazingly. I have had 37 motorcycles and I test the new ones regularly. There really isnt much that has the style and punch of the 300 as a combination. A Malossi air cleaner and high performance muffler and it's fun fun fun
