The Vessel driver is a JIS no.2(P.2) not a Phillips(PH2) it does fit but offers less cam out when used as a Phillips.

Thanks for letting us know. I knew that they made primary JIS but I thought that perhaps this was Phillips for the US market. But you are completely right, JIS will fit a Phillips with less cam out. 👍🏻 Thanks for commenting and watching.

Are these bits lifetime warranty ?

I don’t believe so. I am not aware of any impact bits that are. Hope that helps. 👍🏻

what i am interested in is ordering a spare part chuck for td173. to make it a proper native global standard chuck. because while makita do sell those little adaptor spacers. that you jam right into the farthest reaches of the chuck... that does not actually stay in place. it keeps on falling out when you remove your bits. so not an ideal solution. however ordering the right spare part or subassembly code number should permit a proper conversion of these td173, assuming that the correct spare part exists in the catalog, and is also available to order. failint that, perhaps it is otherwise possible to trap and properly retain the spacer thingy into the chuck. by basically pinching, punching or otherwise crimping the metal around the spacer bit. so that it never falls out again. however i am not actually aware of anybody who has attemped this... nor how 'ideal' the end result would be. if it does not interfere with the insertion of western bits. and if the constand vibrations from the impacting does not setup undesirable harmonic modes that upsets the tool. so ymmv. it's just a theory and requires a proper dissassembly and examination of td173 (japanese version). so you might want to order a 2nd one as backup just in case. then if successful, you can have 2x ts173, which isn't the worst problem in the world exactly now is it? and also gives the opportunity to differentiate each one with different colors. and if fail, you then have a donor unit for most of the spare parts. (all the rest of it, except for the chuck)

It only matters when you try to use Japanese bits in standard collets. Regular bits fit fine in Japanese collets. That’s why makita only makes standard depth bits… it’s a lot to do about nothing

At this point I have been using some regular bit holders (9mm detent) and it seems to do just fine with it. I still feel uncomfortable with the idea of it sometimes but it may not be necessary to use a Japanese bit holder or spacer unless you like using the Japanese bits. That I can completely understand. 👍🏻 Thanks for watching and commenting.

@@iwenive3390 That may be true. I still wish there was a better solution but it seems like standard bit holders (9mm detent) work and don't seem to cause issues yet. Fingers crossed. Thanks for sharing. 👍🏻

@@garnerreviews ok understood - but please let us know if it ever ends up jamming problematically later on (meaning the bit holder, further down che chuck. due to all the impacting etc.). Many thanks

@@garnerreviews I do hvac and it’s the best for taking off/on equipment panel screws. You have just enough power to do almost everything without any fear of stripping the screw threads on thin metal. It’s almost perfect

Sorry about that. I recorded this without my microphone and should have adjusted volume levels up to make up for it. I will try to make sure to use it consistently in the future. 👍🏻 Thanks for watching and letting me know.
