This looks like The Arsenio Hall Show performance. He really captured gems of Black Music history like no other show accept Soul Train. Fabulous Vesta (as usual0! ;-)
One of my all time favorite artists! Most people don't even know that she she did most of the backround vocals on Anita Bakers "Rapture" album! Vesta was a force all by her self. She also did the backup vocals along with Lisa Fischer on Chaka Khan's "Got to be there album~! Vesta and Lisa are so underrated. Luther Vandross did make Lisa Fischer popular, but they are bost still very underrated!
the crazy thing is that this actually happened to her! not long after the song was released ..she should have been a bigger star! but Heaven now has another BEAUTIFUL voice in the Choir! so sad but no more Pain..... YOUR MUSIC WILL LIVE ON FOREVER Ms.Vesta .....most ppl say she sounded like Chaka which she did but her phrasing and style was all her own . Anita Baker was right Vesta was a barrel of vocals!!! and she could imitate Chaka really good! most ppl thought Chaka sang Sweet Sweet Love !
@AIKAN74 Its nice to see your paying tribute to one of the most beautiful women and singers ever Vesta .......Im sure she would greatly appreciate it ! She seemed to have such a zest for life and a very down to earth person .......its sad the way her life ended all alone in a hotel room. :( I just hope those around her who really cared gave her flowers while she was alive . may she Rest In Paradise ................GREAT VIDEO TIMELESS SONG GREAT QUALITY GREAT CHANNEL !
This song senda so many emotions into overdrive. just the fact that you are dating congratulations to the guy you always loved is a lot. she killed this song and I didn't know who she was until she fitted sadly but her voice was powerful, exciting, and understanding. This performance sounded like she know the story too well and that's a great artist!
She LOVED Chaka Khan who was a great mentor to her & many others, that's why she 'kinda reminds you' of CK. : ) I heard Vesta talking about Chaka on radio once. It was like a LOVE LETTER, & in a British magazine interview, same thing. Chaka's FB was the 1st place confirming the death for me. Vesta was a back up singer for CK at one time. Seems the love/respect were mutual.
Please enlighten me! I did not know Ms. Vesta was gone! I am sad! Wow! What happened? She lost the weight and I thought things were good. I know she hadn't been on scene for some time but I just thought she gave up the music business. May God bless her family and loved ones. Thank you for posting.
@Lifetimepanther1944 Many people accused Vesta of imitating Chaka. I never thought that was the case at all. She was a former background vocalist for Chaka so of course she was going to have a strong voice like Chaka's. But, no doubt, Vesta had her own sound. U could definately hear the influence but Vesta had her own unique sound and style.
@maxtheknife yeah your right! and I also read that because of Chaka drug addiction back in the day when Vesta sang background she had to take over! ppl prob didnt even kno the difference between her and CK because that voice and a crazy wig was all she needed! She was influenced by CK alot but she had her own style as well and she was accused of imitating her but I dont think so! I think both of them loved Jazz so therefore their voices were both very horn-like in sound !
@Lifetimepanther1944 thanx......i have a few more to post so stay tuned.....check out my homemade videos for a few of my fav songs of hers on my other channel: aikan1974.
