Here is a tip for any dog owner that is fighting chronic ear infections. I rescued a 6 yr old male English Bulldog. He had to be given up by his owner but had been taken pretty good care of all his life. I noticed him shaking his head and rubbing his head on his bed a lot. It was just the first days I had him, but I knew something was up. I had already scheduled a complete wellness exam with my trusted vet so off we went. I was shocked at the debris that the vet got out of his ears. The vet said that the English Bulldog is very prone to ear infections and that if owners do not realize it and get early vet care, then it becomes chronic and can lead to ear disaster! So, we began taking him to the vet every two weeks for ear cleaning and medication. Things got better.....then they started up again.. The next treatment the vet tried was CLARO and also put him on APOQUEL, one tab per day. We went on with the vet visits and after the second CLARO treatment his ears were clear of any infection and the inflamation was gone as well, partly due to the APOQUEL. So, my advise is ask your vet about CLARO and APOQUEL as these two combined really did the trick. Now he only gets the CLARO every three months or so, and he get now only a half pill of the APOQUEL. His ears look great, the thickening of the ear has gone away, and we have a happy Bulldog, Thank goodness we avoided ear surgery just in time.
It depends on your case. It may not be effective for chronic sufferers. The vets can’t figure out the exact bacteria/fungi combo for my GSD so she’s been on nearly every single medicine available (flushes, drains, ear cleaners, drops, shots and steroids, tablets, creams and ointments, etc) and no combo has made any longterm improvement. Certain breeds are more prone and have harder times for clearing it. Just consult back and forth, and keep ears dry, clean and plucked if there’s hair there!
A true delight to see how well the care these family members are receiving. I've never seen in any of these posts any of the vets do any procedure unnecessarily just to make more money. Purest care of those individuals ❤🎉
So glad that Dr Rob Zammit was able to reconstruct Bruno's ear's. After 4 years of getting his ears cleaned out, the hairs plucked out and ear infections constantly, while also being in pain😢😮😢 I don't think Bruno's Mom could have done anything else but let him have the surgery and I'm so happy that he has been doing well with the treatment 💯💞💯💞💯 and his life can be without painful ear's and now full of play time with his mom in the garden 🏡😊❤😊🎉😊 Little Stevie could've had her femur broken doing anything with her siblings and the foster mom would never have noticed it or it might have happened when they were in the shelter😮😢 but she is better now 🥰 and has a brand new home with a family that will love her like she was supposed to be loved from the beginning of her life ❤️💯❤️💯❤️💯❤️ Much Love To all the animals and the Vet's @Bondi Vet Coast to Coast from the USA ❤️🇺🇲❤️🇺🇲❤️🇺🇲❤️🇺🇲❤️

In these dogs that have a tendency of growing ear hair that is more on the the long side like Cocker Spaniels, Logotto’s, some of the retriever breeds, owners need to clean ears on a frequent and routine basis. This may include pulling inside ear hair out using ear cleaner. This is something that a Dog Groomer does but you can do it yourself using your fingers and a 2x2 gauze.. ear care is just as important as nail care. Regular maintenance.
from how they phrased it i don't think just regular plucking would fix the issue in this dog, genetics not just being unfavorable but however the step beyond that would be described
As a dog groomer, the hair should be plucked every time the dog gets groomed cause it will lead to ear infections and like in Brunos case to expensive surgeries
Yeah that just seems like an immediate and effective solution so I wonder if they tried that? But it could be that it’s deep in there and the groomer can’t get it
@@islandsicedtea most of the time we can, with help of ear powder and hemostats but maybe, his ears had been plucked but the groomer wasn't brave enough to get really inside there. Most dogs don't like it too and he's a lagotto and they are notorious for being naughty while grooming (in my experience at least)
@@ahowe9910 great job, you're gonna make the groomers life so much easier in the future and save yourself a lot of stress and money on the vets! Also remember to go to the groomer as soon as the shots are done (if it's a puppy) it's extremely important to get them started as young as possible cause doodles are really wiggly 😊
I had a Rottweiler that went through the ear surgery that Bruno got. She was getting frequent infections in both ears. That surgery really made a significant difference in her health.
The Steavy puppy is so cute. I think it's sad to foster a puppy and then give her to the new family because she really loves her already. I'm probably overboard.
Was plucking the hair from the ear canal tried. Here in the states most dogs with constant growing hair have the hair plucked to prevent these infections. After the surgery, the ears will be much harder to keep clean without hitting the ear drum. Where the “L” protects it normally.
If I had that Poddle Mix I’d be trimming the hairs with some kinda of dog ear hair trimmer bi weekly & apply Ear-Powder anti biotic and bi yearly Vet Ear Cleanings. I had a Cocker Spaniel that I had to clean & trim ear hairs constantly.
It's my understanding that mastiff puppies have to be really watched to avoid them running around too much.. because they grow so fast, tendons and ligaments in their legs need time to get strong enough to support them
Long haired dogs need to have the hair plucked out of their ears regularly. Each dog is different. Some need it done more than others. I used to have a Old English Sheepdog that got yeast infection all the time so she needed it done more often than the other dogs. Obviously his momma cares for him very much to take him to the vet.
Why did it take 4 years for Bruno's surgery? A sceptical person may ask "was it to get 4 years worth of vet visit costs". I would be trying sooner for a positive result, not waiting 4 years.
The ears? I think he just harvested the lateral part of the actual ear canal (it has cartilage) to reconstruct the ears. They will remain open because of the use of his own tissue that contains cartilage.
@@nothiseh if you look just a bit below the top you will it say unblurred and then at the bottom in green it says for members or something like that. I accidentally grabbed an expired card the first time. Mine works fine now.
@@monedameow I think so. I used to work in ER/Trauma before I got brain cancer so I’m used to seeing the gory stuff and find it fascinating. Plus some of the stuff isn’t even gory. It doesn’t cost that much.
That’s a bad owner. If Bruno needs hair plucking she should have been plucking it. Had a standard poodle, they need plucking. If you do a bit every day it’s not hard to keep up with it.
Half the cases on this show could be resolved if the owners regularly shaved their pets. Unfortunately, they'd rather have a furry animal than a healthy one.
