Veteran soldier tells the story of Xinjiang's iconic Duku highway 

These guys are the real hero's of China modernisation from a country where poverty was normal to a country where over 700 million have stepped out of poverty this a huge achievement not only for Chinese people but to humanity to show that when people work together we can overcome the odds.

You know why China people are never scared of PLA but trust them? This is why!

“..now where we’re standing is built by my son. Back then, it took us 8 years to complete the work - with nothing but spades and pickaxes. But this year, my son spent only 3 months on this bridge,” says Chen Jungui. Belied China’s glittering achievements (over the last 40 years) are untold stories of the struggle, sacrifice and indomitable spirit of two generations of people.

No bitterness in this person. Just gratitude and a sense of duty. China and her people have had a hard time these 200 years or so until recently. Not only those in the Motherland but also those of her people who were sent abroad to the Americas or to South East Asia (many in their teens and twenties) to escape the hardship at home had a hard time abroad but they built and fought for their Motherland or adopted countries during the Second World War (against the Japanese). Those se t abroad all wanted to return to the Motherland one day. Many did but many more did not or could not and have remained in their adopted countries since and made the most of it. They are still there in various South East Asian and American countries. No bitterness even when the locals turn against them as they did many times. And now they see the Motherland change rapidly for the better and their hearts swell with pride.

He tells the story so his brother’s in arms lives on in the telling. We think we have it hard till we learn of what these people have sacrificed. We really have to appreciate what these pioneers of construction achieved.

Backbreaking work but never say never to PLA’s initiative and resilience. Great Respect for those who sacrificed their lives building a brighter future for the Peoples Republic of China.

It was pure commitment, loyalty, and love for the future children and motherland that these more than hundreds of patriots gave all their best and their lives to ensure realization of the project. They sacrificed their own so that people of every generation can travel the road safely. God bless to their precious souls, families, and China 🙏♥️🙏

The effort sacrifices from the older generation rebuilding the nation future, is to provide a better livelihood for the new generation. This must be valued by the new generation! And continue the hard work from the older generation to the next generation！

This is why China is such a great country. It's built on the body of all those who gave up their lives. I am just sad the new generations of Chinese who have everything the previous generation had not, will not be able to carry the burden of moving China ahead.
