Thanks for posting this. I interviewed one of your veterans pictured here as well, and he provided some good detail on how we don't just "move on" from PTSD, but we continue to *move forward* by intentionally taking advantage of the many resources, tools, and skills that are out there. We don't choose trauma, but we can choose how we respond to it. It can break you, or you can be broken open and use it to become a more intentional, compassionate, focused individual. @warriorsroundtable

Hello, Thank you for writing. Whether you are a Veteran or not, it is common to have reactions such as upsetting memories, increased jumpiness, or trouble sleeping after a serious accident, disaster, assault, or other trauma. If these reactions do not go away or get worse, you may have posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Maybe so but it is only soldiers who risk their live and give up their personal freedom for this country just to have every whining bitch with a hangnail claiming ptsd!!! Unless you’ve served we don’t want to hear about it!!!
@charliemcpherson6299
@charliemcpherson6299 2 года назад
@@blaine1124 That statement is provably untrue. A nurse watching people die of COVID is certainly serving their country and risking their life. The same goes for a teacher who survives a school shooting. How about a first responder during a natural disaster? Wildland firefighter? In fact, their contributions to society are more positive, ensuring health and enriching life instead of destroying it. The larger point you fail to understand is that PTSD affects the brain in much the same way, whether you are a soldier, a rape survivor, an abused child, whatever. That's why it's a documented disorder and also not called "soldiers only PTSD". The idea of comparing trauma and assigning it greater value is absurd. Instead of invalidating people you don't know, maybe take a look at the beliefs about yourself that would lead to such an aggressive, unfeeling response.
@blaine1124
@blaine1124 2 года назад
@@charliemcpherson6299 people live in this country in relative safety. Yes I know bad things happen in life, to everyone!! But what you are not seeming to understand is that soldiers in combat zones are living in hell in constant state of fear. We get to experience death and destruction on a scale people who’ve never been in these conditions could imagine!! It pisses me of to hear about someone claiming ptsd because they heard a gunshot or had one incident happen to them!! People seem to want to use whatever bad thing that happened to them to play victim for the rest of their lives. I know rape and child molestation among other tings are traumatic but there is help and immediate recovery assets available to civilians here at home. And also another thing that most people don’t understand is that when your in the military, you can’t quit and walk away. You are there until your dead or your enlistment is up, and even then you can be stop loss and have your enlist extended involuntarily. Cops, doctors, nurses... can quit anytime if they don’t like the boss or working conditions. Soldiers can’t!

jayjay86443 yes it is called tonight is you’re absolutely right a lot of people don’t know about it because it’s typically a symptom from definitions and people who have lost a significant amount of their hearing it’s similar to what we experience when we hear a very loud noise and have that ringing in her ears but for some it is constant and extremely loud, disorienting and hinders their ability to live a normal life I should know because my grandfather has tonight is due to his severe hearing loss that occurred literally overnight around three years ago he got it from an infection that basically inflamed the nerves blood vessels and everything surrounding his ear canal, eardrum and the ear in general LOL and was never the same literally it was scary he thought it would only last a couple days and he was just congested butThe hearing never came back and it was diagnosed later as hearing loss due to a basic common cold which is quite scary to think about and 85% of it is gone and he will never get it back

I always said I would never BASE jump because there is no reserve parachute and there are soo many extra factors that can kill you. I had an event happen to me in 2021 which fucked me up mentally and caused me to not want to go shoot myself, but to start BASE jumping. It wasn't because of the desire to BASE jump, but because of the desire to challenge death and not caring the outcome. I just went to branch medical on base, and they referred me to the ER. The ER said branch medical will call me the next morning for a follow up and medication. Still no call. Nobody gives a shit. You just get passed around.

If you are a combat vet and really want to kick your PTSD symptoms in the ass, learn and practice Transcendental Meditation (TM). The practice is easy and effortless. In a 2021 study published in the Journal of Traumatic Stress, half of the vets "no longer met the criteria for having PTSD” after doing TM for 3 months, compared with just 10% of those receiving standard trauma-based therapy. As NIH senior research fellow, Dr. Pamela Peeke, notes, “The research on Transcendental Meditation is excellent.” Unlike the other therapies, TM is able to effortlessly and comfortably reduce the anxiety and depression seen in veterans suffering from PTSD. TM is easier to practice compared to most PTSD therapies offered by the VA and the military, and is more effective, making this technique preferable among PTSD vets and active duty troops. If you are a combat vet and really want to kick your PTSD symptoms in the ass, go to TM.org and find an instructor.
