I attend the London parade every year and am very proud to stand with my fellow vetrans. I full agree with you Keith its about respect and not about politics. Also I would NEVER turn my back on the cenotaph .

Steady on. I love London and especially the City. I get to see so much history and the great old pubs , churches, guilds, the Royal Hospital, the Courts, markets and especially Charterhouse which is a great place to visit. The City is a fantastic place.

All veterans can be homed within 24 hours of reporting their homelessness! Fact! There's multiple reasons why veterans remain on the streets and it's not because no one wants to help them! And speaking from experience there are loads of "homeless veterans" that have never served!

Remembrance Day is above politics, I served in the military, my son spent a year in Afghanistan and my family going back four generations served in the Army, Royal Navy and the RAF, a number won gallantry medals and some died, I will not turn my back on the Cenotaph on Remembrance Day. Keith, I am an artillery veteran and agree with you entirely. I have written a similar article on the gunners FB pages. Like you if I was going I would not turn my back, but what I have encouraged is that the veteran community associations etc snub the MSM especially the BBC, a number of us was at the demonstration outside the BBC a couple of years ago which took place all over the Great Britain from London, Liverpool, Manchester, Glasgow, Cardiff, Bristol and Belfast. But it was only on the news for 30 seconds and on ITV never on BBC. I was at London and have loads of photos😉. I have suggested that they shun all MSM except GB News who does cover the plight of Northern Ireland veterans facing prosecution. I just think if we turn our backs or boo at the cenotaph the MSM will use it to turn the public against us🤨
I'm with you on this one mate I don't think it's the place for demonstration against that idiot although I completely agree with the sentiment I personally wouldn't turn my back however if vetrans wish to then that's entirely up to them and I can fully understand the reason for it. Hello from the East Riding of Yorkshire, thank you for your video from yesterday and today. I was born in 1955, I am 69 now. My dear old dad was called up when he was 18 into the R. A. S. C. and I believe he spent most of the war in Europe. I don't have many pictures of when dad was in the army, just a few. Anyway when I was born my parents brought me up to treat people as I would want to be treated. Sadly lots of people are not like that now. And dad said, if something doesn't belong to you, don't touch it ! I remember dad said to me once, how sad it is that society has gone down the pan. I fully agree with him. Maybe they should have kept national service. My apologies for rambling on and I apologise for not having all the facts about my dad's army days. Keep safe and I've subscribed to your channel. 👍. It's a good point you make. This is a day of respect. Respect for the Glorious Dead, and (since this is what people died for) respect for each other's opinions and the right to freely express them (or not). Those who want to turn their backs should do so, and those that don't, don't. But the key is that all veterans agree to respect each of those expressions of opinion. In this way, there will be no split. No division of those who did, or didn't, and Veterans achieve collective respect for being grown up about it.
By the way Keith, if you have a ticket for attending the cenotaph parade all mainline rail and tube travel is free on remembrance Sunday for your journey to and from London. The group I go with all get into Euston, from their the black cabbies even run shuttle runs from the station to horse guards, so you could go as its not as expensive as you think.

The important thing is that veterans respect each others decision to either turn or not turn their backs. Remembrance has a different meaning for each person. No one is absolutely right, the only important thing is that dignified silence is maintained to allow each their thoughts and maintain the solemnity of the occasion.

On the day, I will be at my local cenotaph, thinking about nobody other than my Brothers, and family members we lost to violence. I personally think this anger is more linked to peoples standard of living than anything else, and I don't see how that argument belongs at the cenotaph. People had their chance to turn their backs at the poling station with their vote, and the people made what I think was "the wrong decision". The Glorious dead defended our democracy, and gave us the chance to choose our government, by casting our votes wisely. I fully respect and understand your point of view Keith and I can see your point about the tv cameras not picking it up however journalists from other media will see it and point it out either the papers or social media,now we know serving military can’t do anything but the veterans turning their backs will show the people in charge that they cannot count necessarily on the military and hopefully will give them a scare. I know some think it’s disrespectful turning their backs. However, it is only when Starmer lays the wreath. It will send out a powerful message to not only the country, but the rest of the world, what we think about this traitor. The main respect shown to our fallen is during the period of silence. It saddens me that veterans would wish to make a political statement out of a time of remembrance. I can understand why fringe groups would wish to protest at the event, but not those actually taking part who should perhaps know better what remembrance is all about. Where will this lead? Should veterans turn their back on the Leader of the Opposition when he lays a wreath, because of the deaths of veterans due to the poor management of the Covid outbreak under his watch? There are any number of grievances about any number of people attending Remembrance, but it isn't about them, it's about those who have passed. Turning one's back or booing won't make the slightest difference to government policy, but instead will just legitimise future disruptions of Remembrance Sunday for any faction with a grievance.
I think you are missing the point? Do you not remember the other month, I think after the Southport unrest, he said, paraphrasing here, that anyone who attended was right wing thugs? Same as any other disturbances. Just labelled them. This is what he thinks of, I assume you are ex forces like myself, who love our country? I will be taking the parade at our local memorial. There are 2 things we never raise that is religion and politics. The people laying the wreaths are representing their office, veteran associations or emergency services. That man will be representing the office of Prime Minister and the elected representative of the current democratically elected government. Personally I think he is wrong in many ways but we do not protest we remember those who have given so much more for our country. That is an example he needs to learn and quickly.

I definitely agree with some of the other points people have made, if veterans start to protest now, where will this lead? Next thing you know, half will be back facing towards the prime minister, half will be at the leader of the opposition and a mix match for the rest. Meanwhile, the whole reasoning behind remembrance day will be forgotten. I don't want this to come off the wrong way, but are people really sure that their personal beliefs are so important as to turn their backs on or, god forbid, boo at a war memorial during the time it should be afforded the most respect and attention. We don't matter and neither does the PM at that point, it's the dead that we're there to respect.

In my home town I normaly lay the wreath for my regiment, this year I will just turn over in bed. If rememberace Sunday becomes a political occasion I dont want any thing to do with it.

Because, those soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice, had to go and fight that war weather they agreed with the politicians or not. A protest would have been classed as mutiny. As for Bob! Was he ever in the military? I was in the TA and from the content of your channel, I have no doubt that you are an ex serving soldier. I every utuber gets their share of Bob's. Hola Keith...coming back to Cabbage Island for a week tomorrow...London then Norwich. ..I commented on your first video earlier...I will just say this: politicians start wars, soldiers fight them and old soldiers should just remember the sacrifice...no politics...By the way, I worked in Barrow shipyard as a contractor when the first Trident sub was commissioned in the newly built shed..Thatcher was there, she tried to make a speech and firstly the scaffolders started banging their spanners, then everyone else in the shed joined in booing and jeering " Maggie out" etc...The TV cameras were there...none of the footage was shown on the news...Nada...
Hi Mate. A very sensible and astute video, I myself think that people should not use Remembrance Sunday at the Cenotaph or wherever as a means of making a statement of dissatisfaction towards the PM. Don't get me wrong, I totally agree with the sentiment, but we would do well to choose the right time and the right place. Remembering our Dead, the Glorious Dead is the objective. Please let us keep all this in context. Lets Tab 59 I completely and utterly agree with your words. Let us as all as ex service people maintain our dignity towards our fallen comrades and not stoop to the levels of common protest. Headquarters were Depot Queen's Division Bassingbourn Bks Royston Herts was my Depot also as served in RRF. 3rd Batallion in Catterick n Hemer then 1st Batallion in Warminster then Catterick again. I was a Bandsman and proud of my Regt. After training joining The Duke of Kent Band then in 94 following cuts posted to the newly formed The Normandy Band of the Queen's Div. The Cenotaph is not the time or place. Remember that the wreath laying takes place at the most solemn part, the Silence. Starmer won’t hear or see anything. Even live the BBC will edit it (there is a 30(?) second delay to allow for such events). I suggest the Veterans, after the March Past, continue straight on to Downing Street or even to Buckingham Palace ( to let the King know of his Service Personnels feeling to wards his Prime Minister) and engage in a respectful protest. Hi Brian Yes good point I see what you're saying. I always owned a blazer and slacks while I was serving as on many occasions in the WO's & Sgts Mess a particular function would require that form of attire. Later after retirement from the Army , attending various functions with organisations such as Regimental reunions, Royal British Legion and Not Forgotten Association events also called for blazer and slacks, including attending Buckingham Palace Garden Party. Now you are correct, it's never a must to wear a blazer however I personally feel, as many veteran friends do also, that is a smart a respectful dress for such occasions. Most, not all, but most veterans that you see attending Remembrance Sunday Parades, will be similarly turned out, including many younger veterans. I do see what you mean when you say; "It's swapping one uniform for another ". I suppose, at the end of the day, it's all down to personal choice and what the individual feels comfortable in for each event. All the best and thank you for commenting 🍻

Keith I'm living in the North east. Shildon in County Durham. It's roughly about ½hr from north west from Catterick Garrison. Aye Keith it was called "Eric". We used to sneak out back of airfield and go to The Pear Tree in Bassingbourn Village. God memories are flooding back. Lol. I joined Mon Sept 5th and come through past guard 💂♂️ room 13:20hrs. To Hanger 3. D Coy if I remember correctly. I would do it all again if I could. Training nowadays though would be a doddle unlike in our day eh. Lol ! Bloody carpets n duvets wots that all about. Shiny bumbered floors n bed blocks. Made men out of you. Broke you down to be what instructors wanted you to be. Not now can't even swear nowadays!!!!
I was never sure in your Regiment, but am I right in thinking each of your Battalions recruited from different parts of the country? I know there was a Battalion recruited from the North East, one from Birmingham? And maybe a London Battalion? Great Regiment the RRF, always seem to have the Cross of St George flying in camp as well as the Union Flag. The red and white Hackle (excuse spelling), always looked so smart. Great old days Brother, great memories. I was in Celle in West Germany 77 to 85, and one of your Battalions were up the road at Trenchard Bks. Good lads.
In my 80s, I lost father, grandfather, 2nd grandfather died from gas in the trenches. 6 uncles and 4 cousins to wars. They fought for this country's freedom which is being taken away. I know my father, particularly, would feel the backs being turned would be THE very thing that needs to be done. Surely, NOT doing it would feel to those soldiers and their families that the fight and horrific loss of lives was for nothing?

Starmer is a political avatar that is at odds with everything we fought against, especially dictatorship. He may argue otherwise but I judge him by his actions, his plans and what he has said and done to our fellow countrymen. Starmer will just go through the motions robotically and it would probably be better for himself and everyone else if he just didn't attend. When he lays the wreath, remember: "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." Here is the chance to do something, no matter how small but something.

So your claims are false numerically and with the current electoral system the result fully represents the wishes of the people, indivioual voters decide if they will cast a vote or not, thats up to them. @@LetsTab59-bd4fd Bamberg is nice, but you should also visit Baden Württemberg: Hohenzollern Castle (one of Kaiser Wilhelm's favorites - and rightly so), Tübingen, Haigerloch (where Professor Heisenberg worked on the first nuclear reactor in the final phase of WW2) - all not only historically interesting but also really picturesque places - apart from that there is also a lot to discover in terms of cuisine ;)
