The Asatru Vetrarblót or winter sacrifice is the ancient pagan ritual at the beginning of the winter season. This is one of the tree major pagan seasonal celebrations and likely one of the predecessors of the modern Halloween / Samhain event. Most pagan belief systems place this as the time of the year when the communication between the living and the dead is the easiest. Many Asatruar believe that the veil between the worlds is thinnest and communication can be accomplished by people without any special gifts. We use this time to celebrate the væter and wights if our home and land, along with the veneration of our departed friends and family as well as the ancestors of old. The costumes were bourn of our UPG to link our personal celebration with that of the general people at large. The reason that it is important to link these celebrations is to keep our children invested in our way and to help them feel normal and accepted among their own peers. Although our children are all older now, this tradition has become a fixed part of our Asatru seasonal practice that we look forward to every year. The Northwoods Kindred has many of these personal beliefs and we hope that you subscribe so that in time can share them all with you.

Your approach to making these rituals accessible and relatable for the younger generation is commendable. It's a beautiful way to preserve heritage while ensuring it evolves with time, keeping it alive and relevant. The personal touches your bring to these celebrations, like the thoughtful inclusion of costumes, highlight the dynamic and living nature of Asatru practice. Thank you for sharing your journey and insights with us.

@@northwoodskindred ok but some people think that our Gods are mythical but we Sanatanis have proofs and some other Pagans have proofs like our Gods's footprints, weapons etc but do you guys have any proof any evidence I mean I believe in your Gods your Gods are my Gods but there are some assholes ( true muslims, christians, jews, zoroastrians, evil atheists and some narrow minded Pagans from different Dharm) and I wanna answer them that's why I need some proofs some evidences and I wanna bring all true pagans together to fight the evil people and all religions

@@kalyan8094 If your gods put you in conflict with the peace neighboring you, is it not you who's possessed? Love your enemy, that's what Jesus preached, and you might just want to take that word of advice, even if it came from somewhere outside of your religion, and if it's hard for you to adopt that belief, then be mindful it's just as hard for other religious folk, to adopt yours. If you truly wanted to do good through your beliefs, you'd treat even outsiders as kindred, so that they desire to be one. It's not rocket science, it's just basic human nature.

Hail Yngvi-Freyr! What did you guys do for Disting?
@end0skeleton404
@end0skeleton404 7 месяцев назад
Some celebrate Disting during the 2nd of February, some wait til the full moon around the vernal equinox. Some people do it in between these time periods. Just depends on people's schedule in these modern days.

Hey i have been watching you guys for a while and love what you guys do. I humbly ask for your advice on something regarding my everyday life as a pagan. I have been in this faith for about 2 years and it has been amazing. Odin opened my eyes to many things and gave me visions of the past and future and thor has helped me find confidence in myself that i didnt know was there. Recently i have really been struggling with motivation to do everyday tasks and can barely find the motivation to do offerings to the gods. I was wondering if you would have any wisdom on maybe what to do in this situation and what i could do to get closer to the gods.

This is just what we call a winter, it is time to let what you know find its place in your daily life and routine. Just relax, live your life and let it run its course. We all go through it from time to time.

A very wise woman once told me that even when you can't make offerings you can still pray. You will always have the ability to offer prayer. Do that little by little to help you get back into the groove

Have any animals been killed for the clothings and ornaments?
@northwoodskindred
@northwoodskindred 7 месяцев назад
Yes, all the fur is real, the skulls are all real and many of the antlers are from our hunts, but some of them are sheds also. This is how we continuosly honor the animals that we have harvested over the years.

@@northwoodskindred But they have been killed for food, and then you have used their furs, or you have killed them for the purpose of making the clothing?

@@thesharkormoriantm274Based on what I have seen from these folks, they eat the meat of what they kill. They are ethical hunters. I pray that Ullr and Skadi bless them and I pray Artemis and Pan bless them too
@northwoodskindred
@northwoodskindred 7 месяцев назад
@@thesharkormoriantm274 Everything we kill, we eat and we process all of it ourselves. We are currently processing 2 elk for our freezer. They will feed our house hold and our kinsmen and guest at gatherings. This whole year, we do not have to buy meat unless we want to. We know intimately where our food comes from. Too many people have no idea what is in their food, we grow, forage, hunt and harvest much of our food. And we do all that we can to honor the animals long after they are gone. We wear their skins, share stories of the hunt, and of the animals sacrifice and resiliance. You can't do that with a pack of burger from the market. Everything is done legally and ethically, we are not cosplayers, we live and embrace this life that we put glimpses of on the internet.
