That sound on the DAM Open is so sweet. Do you ship these to Canada? The db are within 2db of the stock at 4500 rpm, what about at 8000 to 9000 rpm. Is there a noticeable difference or should it stay within 2 db? The bike sounds far meaner with the DAM rather than stock, I like it.
My VFR 750 (and 800) with DAM sounded much better than the 1200. They were like small Nascars passing by. I'd by a DAM again only if they would 'e'-approve their exhausts... Top quality! Why don't you approve them please? :-)
the degrees in the V shape are different, the vfr 800 is 90 degrees...I think the vfr 1200 is 75 degrees...the 800 sounds deeper and better in my opinion
re: "Is the same type of engine. I don't understand" yes and no. yes, they are both V4 engines. no, they have different cranks which gives different firing orders and thus different sound. Honda technically always had 2 different cranks. VFR's were 180's and gave that "rumble bumble" sound like an American V8. anything designated RVF (for Racing Vee Four, notice the reordered letters) used 360 degree cranks which gave that higher pitch Euro "racy" sound which is what they used in the RC30 and RC45 race bikes. these bikes are rare, so most people have never even SEEN one ('cept for a picture) let alone HEARD one. meanwhile, VFR's were mass produced and thus is what's colorized your opinion. the VFR12 crank is designed with offsets to balance it's narrower V angle while giving this old school "HRC 360" sound. the problem comes in that after years and years of producing ONLY the VFR sound (thus creating an expectation), they went and changed it and only FORGOT TO TELL ANYBODY that's what they were doing. the result...? disappointed consumers.
No your shit doesn't get that shit out of here.... I've owned two VFR800s and I own a VFR1200.... The closest thing to sounding like a muscle car is going to be a Buell.... No if ands or buts about it.
Don't know why this engine sounds so weird for a V4. The VFR800 is way way nicer with deep growl and distinctive sound, you can clearly say it's a V4. Not to mention the incredible Aprilia V4 which is the king in the sound department. Compared to a V4 from Aprilia this VFR1200 is a complete disappointment, one of the worst sound engines in my opinion having in mind it's a V4.
