Seems to me like 90% of this conversation probably happens regularly. Just the 10% of the VFX Guy swearing and then telling her to shove it probably doesn't.
These sorts of conversations used to happen with me as a director on indie projects. They think you're also the producer that magically makes everything regarding logistics happen. I remember explaining to a writer that wanted his movie made that if he wants his restaurant scene, someone is going to have to find a restaurant that is willing to have people film in it. Plus that restaurant will probably want to be financially compensated or be promoted in some way. That it would be a time consuming process to find, not just the right restaurant, but one that would be willing to cooperate with the project. Their response was "well, you're the director!"
Absolutely SPOT ON. This is the only reason why I detest working in the industry. Normally, you need to show courtesy and listen to the pitch - but with so many glorified coffee assistants that clawed their way into management positions (without any personal skills or experience), this sort of thing will continue to happen. And they all want a "three course meal" for the price of a cup of coffee. Ignorant and demanding clients with their excessive egos are the bane of all FX companies.
Life After Pi brought me here after watching a video on the current state of the visual effects industry. It's depressing to see that the only change that's happened in over a decade is that things have gotten worse.
I love it! A classic to rival Truth in Advertising. Witty, well designed and sadly with more than a hint of truth. Our industry might have huge talents, but it also has more than enough stupid, egotistical idiots who deserve a slap!
You probably heard it being used descriptively . To clarify, I mean to say someone was probably just combining words. Which is really common to do with the words static and dynamic. For tension to be static, that would mean there's no change. In my opinion, you don't want your tension to be static otherwise you risk desensitizing the audience to high tension situations later. A horror film would require a careful balance of steady, static tension and changing dynamic tension.
Hahahahahahhhahahaa fuckin' hilarious :D Yeah the green screens will work sure . Pay me $2.00, no fuck it, I'll do it for nothing. Hahhahahhahahahaa ROFL ;)
Sounds like Nolan is directing this film. As great as was, he sure is beginning to act like an a**hole these days. Guess he needs to prove to be special some way or the other.
