Hey guys, as it turns out that ‘missing’ functionality exists in my M-Audio Oxygen 61. If you have this controller or something similar, the buttons below the faders are automatically mapped to selecting different channels in the channel rack. Again, there is always something new to be learned in FL!

Thanks for the video John! I was messing around for ages trying to find a way to easily cycle through instruments and, literally five minutes after giving up, accidentally discovered a way haha. There are two ways of scrolling through the instrument channels for me: 1) Using Traktor Kontrol F1 - just turn the knob above browse/midi button. EDIT: you first have to press shift otherwise the knob will control "last tweaked". EDIT 2: I had to first load a FL Studio template in NI Controller Editor. I don't know if this template came with the F1 or if it's one I downloaded it some time back, knowing it would come in handy at some point. 2) Using Image Line Remote with iPad or tablet - turn the big green wheel named "Main" on the first page. F1 is better as the rotary dial clicks for each turn, allowing you to select one by one much more intuitively. As others have said, there are other controllers that can do this but I've not got them.

Try Automating the VFX Color Mapper. That way you can change the stay on the same piano roll and change the synth that is playing. Idk if that can be linked to continuous controller though. "" VFX Color Mapper sends 'voice' data, note and note related events, to linked plugins. A voice port is conceptually similar to a MIDI channel except that it is limited to note data including note related properties (Pan, Velocity, Mod X, Mod Y & Fine Pitch). Colors - By default note colors 1 to 16 are mapped to voice ports 1 to 16 AND only voice ports 1 to 4 are activated on the output side. Drag a link from the target plugin to the middle of VFX Color Mapper and release to select ports 5 to 16. Mapping - Click the drop-down menu on a color to redirect a note color to the desired voice port. There are no restrictions on how many colors map to the same voice port. NOTE: Voice port mappings can be automated, Right click a color, select 'Activate' then right-click again to select automation options as usual. "" ---- FL Manual

There is a cc signal that changes which channel is selected. I don't remember the number but i know i've used that functionality with my lpk25 few years back. Maybe someone will find it in the documentation.

kruger12311 okay, just found that functionality on my oxygen 61. Thanks for the comment!

Great video. Couldn’t you have done the same using the Layer plugin to split instruments? I feel like the VFX does more than what is shown here but I will keep exploring. I would also encourage anyone to check out IL Remote...why? Because you can customize a pad to change instruments like you asked earlier AND when you do, I encourage you to study the MIDI language that makes it work. Then...go to your MIDI controller software (mine is Enigma) and customize a knob with the exact MIDI language from Il remote to do what you want. Unfortunately part of being a good music producer involves being a geek haha

It doesn't seems to work if it's the same synth. :(

is there a way to split only Black keys in Keyboard Splitter?
@JohnJuddMusicStudio
@JohnJuddMusicStudio 3 года назад
I think a better option would be VFX Key Mapper. Inside of Patcher, set up two synths with separate inputs and separate paths to the output. One will be for white keys, the other for black keys. Place and connect a VFX Key Mapper in front of each synth. Inside of the ‘white keys’ Key Mapper, deselect any # notes. Inside of the ‘black keys’ Key Mapper, deselect any natural notes. As long as you have connected everything properly, you’re set.

Could you apply this to 1 synth and split that synth, load same synth with all different sounds? Possible? Ty m8
@JohnJuddMusicStudio

Yes, absolutely. Just load up multiple instances of the same synth (with different sounds) and follow the setup ideas in the video.

Can I patch an used Synth from Channel Rack to Patcher?
@JohnJuddMusicStudio
@JohnJuddMusicStudio 2 года назад
I believe this can only be done if the FX patcher is sitting on the same insert as where the synth is routed.

Im not to sure about Patcher ?? ive seen it on my fl Studio just seens lot of messing for not a lot of gain
@JohnJuddMusicStudio
@JohnJuddMusicStudio 4 года назад
I used to feel that way as well. The more I use FL, the more need there is for custom built patcher presets that are specific to my own workflow. I bet you will feel the same way at some point. This VFX keyboard splitter was probably overkill, but there are many more uses for patcher.

is there a way to microtune sawer synth to be played live in FL studio?
@JohnJuddMusicStudio
@JohnJuddMusicStudio 3 года назад
Yes. I will make a video on micro tuning inside patcher. It’s a great topic. If you have specific micro tuning scales in mind, let me know and I will use them.
