*Yeah, probably get some politician to make it Illegal to possess any VHS Tapes by falsely calming because the VHS can be poisonous after sitting for a while, etc...*
@@radicalrick9587 Or that it's a crackdown on piracy. Or that there's some sort of data vulnerability with VCRs, because the average person is tech-illiterate.
I think collectively, we're tired of all this technology. Were tired of social media, tired of modern tech and were yearning for the old days. I'm 40, and I grew up going to blockbuster and west Coast video. Kids today need to know how that feels..
@@wolfgamemusicvideo4532 Not just certain titles, but certain titles that they paid for. Also things like ads in a paid service, reducing the quality of the show because you're on an "unsupported platform" (like a browser in Linux instead of their spyware apps), and forcing arbitration when a customer dies in one of their theme parks, because the customer signed up for a streaming service and arbitration was in the TOS.
Back in the VHS day the vibe was much different :) Every visit to the video store was magical :) You felt that every weekened you are going to go on a new adventure :) Every movie was an adventure and told its own unique story :)
Nice but also spooky because I have a friend in Ireland that I share old media and movies with. Would be hilarious if you are him lol. I love your Bert and Ernie profile picture, by the way.
I never stopped collecting. A lot of things are only available on VHS, things recorded off TV especially. Tape trading has been around for decades, and a lot of the uploaded shows you see here on RU-vid are uploaded by collectors like I. :)
I've always hated streaming. I had a bunch of VHS tapes that I ended up donating back to a Goodwill and then I left my VCR at my sisters when I moved out of state. Last year I bought an old portable Sony DVD player and I'm reviving my whole DVD collection. But I'm thinking about rebuilding VHS also. See, I got smart with all these movie apps,. I downloaded all the movies into a separate hard drive now all I have to do is plug it in to my computer and watch them. Which means no issues with streaming and no fees.
It's awful Marty in the future insted of a physical tape in your hand you long term rent from services and get spied on and inundated with ad's.What can we do Doc? Live in the past because the future of media sucks.
Like, for sure! Like, totally or some junk. Like totally rad you know, like totally cool and not like totally suck, like yeah, like totally! Like, this one time I like, had this thought or something of like my brain trying to tell me something and I was like shut up, like yeah, totally shut up. It totally annoyed me like gag me with a spoon yeah?! Like enough already, Like totally puke city!
Question: Suppose VHS tapes start being made again. How will they look on a 16x9 screen, vs a 4x3? Will the image know how to stretch or compress (like a DVD)?
@@TomIannucci22 What I mean is, if I pop in a new letterboxed VHS tape and watch on a 16x9. Will the new tape know this is a 16x9 screen and stretch accordingly? Or will it think it's a 4x3 and show black bars on all four sides?
@@TomIannucci22 Most VHS tapes though were designed for 4x3, even letterboxed ones. I think stretching a letterboxed DVD would destroy the resolution. Modern VHS tapes though might be designed for 16x9.
This is incredibly stupid. Collecting VHS is incredibly stupid. Thrift stores don't watch every movie all the way through. Many have crinkled/wrinkled magnetic tape in the cassettes. Old VHS tapes are hard on the equipment heads. You can't see it, but the magnetic particles flake off on the heads.
