not to get sappy but him making the tickler at the end was exactly the spirit of what t bone was teaching. the joy of making your own clown fun, and making others laugh.
I think the T-bone tape was genuinely delightful. That man clearly had a passion for clowning, and he did his damnedest to share his art with others. He was right about the drug stuff too imo.
that's kinda wild t bone tried to take a stand against DARE, one of the big criticisms back in the day is that it taught kids to turn in their parents "to save them from drugs" but not that their parents might lose custody of them, lose their job or their house. principled morals the clown
D.A.R.E. fucked me up as a kid because my whole family supported the effort I was putting into the program, and I got like 3rd place in the essay contest, writing and revising for like 3 weeks. Only to realize later om nearly everyone around me constantly smokes weed and drinks, likely even the DARE police officer, that shit broke me. Dare has the power to convince kids these little lies about drugs and users of drugs/ addicts, I went into denial about it for like a year until I started smoking.
i tried to look up more info on t-bone but i cant find anything beyond the one article (which came out a year after this tape.) he says in it that this will probably end his career, and it looks like it did :( i think thats a real shame cus he seems pretty cool from what little info i could scrounge up. the whole performance was supposed to be different alternatives for kids to calling the police. Based T Bone.
I never thought about how it might affect kids negatively and now that I think about it its shocking how I didnt come to this conclusion in less than 5 seconds
Tim Arem AKA T-Bone the Clown performed as a live action Ronald McDonald (and Mac Tonight) from 1981-1985 in California. the LA Times drug article mentioned in chat quotes him as saying “I guess my career is down the toilet”, but he continued to do various performances for children and use the name T-Bone while working as a fitness educator (though not as a clown). he was also in an tmnt-themed VHS meant to teach kids about public buses in LA. he clearly had a great entertainer's presence and an attitude toward teaching children that i have to respect. he passed away this may.
God, that heart safety tape reminded me all to well of how much I hated hearing kids sing on videos like that going through school EDIT: so, I fell asleep just as the GameShark tape started and didn't wake back up until midway through the T-Bone tape. The utter confusion I felt from waking up to that was such an unbelievable experience
The song in the heart video was so grating it stressed me out and raised my bpm by 30 by the end from gritting my teeth to endure it. That was horrible. Good find.
T-Bone has now been released into our reality. you could have prevented his escape from the tape, but you where too curious to see the tickler. Soon the clown infection will begin and it's all your fault.
51:03 I was going insane trying to figure out what the voice at this segment reminded me of and now I remember. it sounds like fucking jeff bezos from the amazon dark video. fucked up
I was about to say "The good guys still exists in Australia" but I went to fact check; We DO have a consumer electronics store called "The Good Guys", but the American version is a completely unrelated business. Assuming DIVX made its way over here, they probably would have sold the players as well, but I'm not sure they did, I wasn't born at the time.
Hey wait a minute... this isn't 18, this is 19. Why didn't you post the one you did before the final RTVS Mario Party stream? The one with the sequel to the All-State Fire Safety tape. The VOD is still up.
Just giving you the paper bags to put your georcies in yourself instead of cashier doing it is exactly hoe they did it in europe when i visted, literally threw the paper bag at me
You all jest about the heart health video (and tbf its a pretty funny one) but it also unironically reminded me I hadn't done my cardio yet today so I paused the vod to go do that. So... thanks I think?
I definitely a little silly for asking this, but where is vhs viewings 1? and I think that there's a viewing between this and the previously uploaded one. I love watching these and I feel like I'm going slowly crazy having all these missing pieces
vhs viewings 1 was before scorpy started regularly streaming. the first was just him and a couple members of the crew yearss ago. the 1st vhs viewings that we got to see is marked as vhs viewings 2
