VI: The Lovers -  

yay! haven't watched yet but I've been looking forward to this! To be honest this is a card that I struggle with more than almost any other card and is one that can be a deal breaker for me in a deck. I'll be back after I listen to your choices!

I try to wait to watch others’ videos until I’ve completed mine….so I’m a bit behind now in watching the #toptatprtrumps videos! Love love love your selections. The way I was waiting for the Fyodor Pavlov Lovers card to pop up, as that’s one of my favorites, too. And the Lovers from Numinous as well. I’d always considered the latter to be more of an open or polyam situation, but the way you described it as community or chosen family was just beautiful, and I think more fitting for the depiction. Very excited now to watch the rest of your selections, and also to watch Mascha’s selections. Thank you for sharing yours! 💜

Super agree that seeing more queer representation in decks is so needed, and so appreciated when we see it! And also Lovers with more than 2 people! Funnily though, I went a different way in my Lovers choices - I prefer Lovers cards that are hardly about people or romantic love 😂 I’m surprised how big the cards of ultraviolette are; I always imagined they’d be playing card sized.

Your choices are really special and I love what your shared about each one. The Next World Lovers cards is one of my favorites as well. The Lovers card is one of my toughest cards to read in the tarot. I like a Lovers card to depict a choice or choices. Your pick of the Numinous tarot is also one of my favorites. I also see it as found family or community. Spiritsong and Wild Unknown are favorites of mine, both evoke choice of different paths to take, either alone or with a partner. The Spacious Tarot's Lovers card is another favorite of mine, it evokes a feeling of "what will I become?". This is a wonderful series and I'm enjoying all the different responses about the majors.

really enjoyed hearing your final thoughts about the importance of representation in this card specifically - bringing in the concepts of being in relationship with oneself and of relationships as community has really helped me get more comfortable with this card. The societal "default setting" of cis-het-monogamous relationships as being everyone's ultimate goal is problematic for so many of us, those who just want something different, and those who have suffered in abusive situations. I appreciate all your selections, particularly the Next World Lovers, and one that I would add as a favourite of mine is the Fountain Tarot Lovers for it's beautifully powerful feeling of equal partnership without pressure or expectation.
