VIA to spend $388 Million on new buses, stations despite decline in ridership 

“No one rides transit so we are cutting service” is a self fulfilling prophecy

It reminds me of Los Angeles Metro. They have a similar style bus running from North Hollywood to Canoga Park. It runs in its own lane of traffic and riders pay the fare at the bus stops

If Via could be semi reliable with bus service San Antonio is the perfect city for a hub and spoke rail system

Use me as a dislike button for this obviously biased headline. (Of course ridership does down if you don't invest in transit)

no fricking shit! the neglection of public transit has made people choose other modes of transit, investing into quality transit makes people come.

WHAT I WANNA KNOW IS HOW IN THE HELL PEOPLE GET AROUND? I NEVER SEE PEOPLE RIDING BUSES? DOES EVERYONE OWN CARS? WHERE ARW ALL THE PEOPLE WHO DONT OWN CARS. HOW DO THEY GET AROUND?

There is much to like about VIA, but those accordion style two-part buses are a waste. They are clunky, much bigger and fit about the same number of people. The bike rack takes up a lot of space and is no easier to use than the rack on the front of other buses. The greatest improvement they could make is to streamline picking up wheelchair bound people. No way it should take nearly so long to get them on the bus and secured in place. Also, apparently the IT department could use some real talent.
