So glad you did this song, not many reactors have. I believe it was their 2nd biggest hit after Joy to the World. Old Fashioned Love Song would be a great next choice. The lead singer on this song is Chuck Negron, the other singers are Cory Wells (Mama Told Me Not to Come) and Danny Hutton.
Stolen from Wikipedia but, this is an incredible stat. 'The band had 21 Billboard Top 40 hits between 1969 and 1975, with three hitting number one.' Even if they only had 3 # 1's that is very impressive. I originally thought that all their songs were top 40.
You have to hear " Three Dog Night - Shambala" See the guys singing it on stage! There is no lead singer, they all take turns singing on a bunch of songs! If you haven't heard "Mama Told me Not to Come" It's a Must! and "Old Fashioned Love Song"
If you react to "Black and White",...... Please do the video version that depicts people of different cultures. It makes such a powerful statement with images.
You've hit a couple of their major hits. For a mellow track with great harmonies try "Old Fashioned Love Song," but maybe their best record was "Mama Told Me Not to Come".
A great live performance by Three Dog Night is "Eli's Coming" from the 1975 Soundstage TV show...It's on RU-vid. They start by showing off their individual vocal skills. It's awesome. It would make a good video reaction for you.
"Out in the Country" and "Liar" are my faves by them. Three Dog Night are kind of unique in that they have 3 lead singers in addition to the backing band.
This is a great band period. They could listen almost every one of their songs. Can’t go wrong with Three Dog Night. Would like to you react to more Chicago. You should do a 70’s day like you have your Friday Women’s day just a suggestion. Love what you guys do. Keep up the great work.
One of the best bands ever in live performance. The three Dogs and the back up band too! 3DN rocks!! Just a great band back in the day. Written by Harry Nilson. Thanks!
Old fashion love song, Old fashion love song (live) pieces of April. Out in the country, Shambala …Try a little tenderness ☮️💜. Do lives when you can, they’re pretty funny sometimes
This song actually isn't a 70s song - it was released in 1969, only a few months before I was born. The song was actually recorded the year before by Harry Nilsson. It become 3DN's first ever Top 10 hit. This was followed up with "Easy to Be Hard", which is definitely one you should add to your list. The vocalists' names are Danny Hulton, Chuck Negron, and Cory Wells. Michael Allsup was the guitarist, Jimmy Greenspoon played keyboards, Joe Schermie played bass, and Floyd Sneed was the drummer. Danny, who turns 80 this year, is still leading the band!
This is an underrated group. They have grown on me because of these reaction videos. They also are a fun group to watch. I wish I had seen them back in the day.
I understand the Beatles thought the song did not suite there style so gave it to their good friend from Liverpool Cilla Black. As seen on her TV show ; ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-B4HC1IfpYBw.html With Paul and John present. Some Beatles imitators have released versions to fool us. But there are scraps of the abandoned Beatles tests of the song.
They had so many hits. They were known as a songwriters favorite band because all of their hits were written by other folks. This was written by the late great Harry Nilsson. You need to look into his catalog of music.
Okay, I am 63 and just saw Robsquadreactions for the first time. You guys are awesome! I can tell you are genuine music lovers with incredible personalities. Loved how you talked about each day being a blessing. I am an instant fan and will be watching more of you. Thank you for playing my first favorite band “Three Dog Night”. I loved listening to them when I was in elementary school and in junior high.
My parents took me to see Three Dog Night in the early seventies. Don't remember much. I was born in 65. This song always reminded me of going to the beach, feeling the wet sand between my toes. And hearing this song on some teenager's transister radio. I got a whole list of late 60s early 70s songs that remind me of the beach.
The lead singers were Corey Wells, Chuck Negron and Danny Hutton. Jimmy Greenspoon played Keyboard, Michael Allsup and Joe Schermetzler played guitar and bass, Floyd Sneed was the drummer.
My first introduction to Three Dog Night was "Old Fashioned Love Song." This was their second hit in my life, and it blew me away. Their songs are all so different, and so well crafted it was quite remarkable for the era and contributed to their quick burn-out. But, I will always be a die-hard fan. I wore out my 8-track tape...maybe two of them.
The late great and tragically unappreciated (Still not in Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame) Harry Nilsson wrote this song while on the phone listening to a busy signal. He has written so much, but his Grammys are both for songs he did not write, they being Everybody's Talking and Without You. Harry Nilsson is a Rabbit Hole you would want to get lost in. And there is a TV movie that he did called The Point, that I think you both will love and so will your kids. Has a great lesson about accepting differences.
I think "Liar" is one of their best songs. The intensity of the voices is incredible. I hit the repeat button over and over again when I listen to it. I love all their songs, but there is just something about the sound of Liar that gets me. It was written by Rod Argent who was a founding member of the Zombies...have you ever listened to them? they're great...and then he briefly headed a band called Argent whose most famous song was "Hold Your Head Up", which I didn't care for. I see below "Eli's Coming", oh yes.
My Jam!!! I think they are my absolute favorite group from the late 60s through the 70s. This song is so great. All three have fantastic voices but Chuck Negron's voice is my favorite.
That's Chuck Negron singing lead. The lead singers were Chuck Negron..Danny Hutton and Cory Wells. On the instruments were Jimmy Greenspoon on the keyboard.. Michael Allsup..Joe Schermetzler..and Floyd Sneed on the Drums.
Love Three Dog Night, got to see them in concert maybe ten years ago. If you ever get a chance to see them DO IT. Check out the following songs by them: "Lier", "Shambala", "Eli's Coming", "An Old Fashioned Love Song" or "Black And White ". 🙂
"Old Fashioned Love Song" "Shambala" 'Black and White” Just to name 3. - "Out In The Country" - is their Environmental song written by Paul Williams. Most people might know it by the lyrics "Before the breathing air is gone. Before the sun is just a bright spot in the nighttime." - I remember the smog alerts and not being able to see more than 100 yards.
If you truly want a good look of Three Dog Night, you got to check out Three Dog Night,Live at the BBC 1972.It really showcases how good these guys were.
Three Dog Night ranks as one of my top favorite bands of the 70s. So many hits. My favorite is their cover of Try a Little Tenderness. Such a bluesy feel and even better than the original in my opinion. There’s a video out there that shows them singing it, which is excellent. I think you’ll love it too! Btw, One… is just the kind of song you listen to after a breakup. I used to listen to this on the radio as I drove back from college to home for the weekend. For a while, my heart was broken and I belted this with them (off key) each time it played. Got all that sadness out of my system and eventually I cheered up enough to enjoy their song, Joy to the World (Jeremiah was a Bullfrog)! And I still love all of these songs today. Also, Easy to be Hard from the rock opera “Hair”. In fact, you should watch the movie “Hair” for a real taste of the late 60s and early 70s culture, music, and messages. It was an an age of saying something meaningful whatever your point of view. In hind sight, no one was always right, but we all deeply expressed! Marvin Gaye is another contemporary of the 70s culture described in his songs. Fun video tonight!
This song was written by Harry Nilsson. Harry Nilsson was close to the Beatles cuz they really admired his music and his voice. Harry Nilsson was super versatile. If you’ve reacted to one or two of his songs, you’ve barely scratched the surface. He did gorgeous ballads like Without Her, as well as Without You. But he did serious rock songs like Let the Good Times Roll or Down or Jump into the Fire. Then he has a lot of uptempo fun songs like Gotta Get Up, Spaceman,The Coconut Song, or more reflective like Driving Along or Remember. He wrote and sang children’s songs like Blanket for a Sail, The Puppy Song, Me and My Arrow. He crooned beautifully with Somewhere Over the Rainbow, Lullabye in Ragtime, AsTime Goes By. Just check out Nilsson. He was a 70s innovator
As has been mentioned, this song was written by Harry Nilsson, you guys reacted to his Everybody's Talking about a year ago, wrote one of "The Great American Songbook"s
Three dog night got their name from the fact that people in the hills only had a little wood stove to try to heat the house in the winter, and so to keep warm they would have the dogs sleep in bed with them, sharing body heat! And if it was a particularly cold night, they would say it was a Three dog night!! One on either side, and one down by the feet!
Graduation Night, June 20, 1969. Sitting in my parents brand new '69 Ford Torino GT with my buds listening to this song. I can picture it like it was yesterday...
I love the meaning behind the Band's name. If it was going to be very cold that night, somebody would say " It's gonna be a Three Dog Night tonight " Meaning you'd need to sleep with 3 dogs to keep you warm.
They made the careers of many song writers. Took unknown obscure songs and made them hits. There are many well known and successful individuals and groups that don’t write their own music like Linda Ronstadt, The Grass Roots, The Animals, The Carpenters to name a few.
Eli's Coming Easy to be Hard Out in the Country Celebrate Three Dog Night had 21 songs on The Billboard Top 40 Hits 1969-1975. This included 3 Number One Hits. The 3 vocalists came together in 1967 to form the band Redwood. They made some recordings with Brian Wilson who was working on The Beach Boys album Wild Honey. One is a great song with outstanding vocals and instrumentation. With 3 vocalists you were guaranteed a great singer everytime. Glad you enjoyed it. Buckets of Maple Syrup love from Canada ❤️❤️ 🇨🇦 🇨🇦
I’ve seen Three Dog Night twice in the early 1990’s but that was after Chuck Negron had left, but guitarist Jimmy Allsup filled in on the three part harmony. My favorite is also a Chuck led song written by Leo Sayer “ Must Let The Show Go On”
YES YES YES PLEASE! Please react to Eli’s Coming live! Try A Little Tenderness and Easy to be hard. All fantastic! You will see what they r really made of grit, soul, blues amnd so one!!

Harry Neilson wrote this when he was still working at a bank. He was so tired and he was just listening to the phone busy signal. You can hear the busy signal if you know!❤❤
Chuck Negron and I spent several years in the same children's home in the Bronx called Woodycrest. He was in an older boy's group in the home so I never met him. I only found out he'd been there when I read his autobiography.
