I know that some 'scientits' certainly sponsored by big shoes corporations have said that those shoes are bullshit, but i can tell you that i bought them because i always had problem with hurting knees after running and wanted to give a try with those. Now with i have no problem of nees anymore.
It does not matter how well they absorb impact, since if you run in them you never strike with the heel, therefor the whole foot works as a spring. You can say goodbye to back pain. The musculatur involved in the strike will undergo some changes to adapt to the new running style, so take it easy at first, don't push yourself too hard. Once you're used to it, you feel incredebly light. It is a good feeling, and it can enhance performances. But seriously, if you do it, go all the way, go barefoot!
Yes it does! Just google "vibram five fingers flat feet". You'll see that you just read from flat footed individuals who tried these and it helps their feet better than any other shoe or inlay could. They even develop arches after a period of time.
yep, I had muscle soreness on my feet for 3 full weeks wile wearing such shoes! the pain is finally gone but my feet aren't the same! the sole pads are much thicker, the arch is stronger and you can actually feel the tissue between the bones much thicker and firm!
I ordered from amazon US and i am from Saudi Arabia i am always been size 7 woman when it arrives it's size 7-7.5 alright but 2cm smaller for me.. how on earth i am going to stretch this?? I am frustrated it's been years since i am dreaming to have it when i finally have it. It's useless. Please Help
i just got a pair for the same reason. i read a review on them and the the guy said they absorb impact pretty well, which so far they do! i havent had the chance to fully train in them yet as the weather hasnt been too good. the grip is awesome too, you just cant take as high of drops with them until your feet get used to having very little padding so if you do get a pair take it easy while training in them for awhile. hope this helps!
These are amazing, I'm very confident i will never go back to a 'normal' shoe ever again. I hope we see more and more people get into the market of making these sorts of shoes.
The problem is that a lot of people get regular shoes and then train too hard and get injured. With less cushion this will happen more. The shoes are great and I no longer have injuries.
I usually run barefoot whenever I am at a track, but I'm I'm running trails or anywhere where I might step on glass, I stick to vibrams and it feels pretty similar. Putting on regular running shoes feels like running with ankle weights now.
hahaha! you probably didn't transition from 30 years of heavily padded sneakers onto 24/7 barefoot/ultra minimal shoes! I actually misquoted, it was 3 months. I bought 2 pairs of 3mm soled vivo barefoots, removed the insoles, and got a pair of bikilas and of seeyas. No transition, just hoped from bulky padded to them from one day to the next... Had no injuries though, just a lot of ligament and muscular pain in the mornings
Ok so they show you running and stuff, and for me running feels natural in these vibrams, but what about every day use like just walking around, how do you walk around? Do you heel then toes or forefoot down first?
they allow your foot to work to it's max. the problem is, if you're not used to going about barefoot, your feet are probably way too weak to absob impact. The shoe itslef does nothing but protect your feet from cuts, abrasion etc. I've been going on "barefoot shoes" for 2 months now, and despite having much stronger feet, I still can't jump from very high on such shoes. aquiring ligament, tendon, muscle strenght and your own foot pad takes time.
suprizingly my calves just hurt the first day. But that's probably cos I only run forefoot when sprinting or going downhill, else I run midfoot tending towards the heel. I didn't watch any training vidoes at first so I used the biomechanics I knew from transitioning horses to barefoot and cushioned the heel landing by flexing the joints a lot more and rolling ou-in + back forward. I can now run over 8km again without any joint complaints watsoever. (on normal shoes I baredy did 3km)
free advice, if you're going to comment about whether someone squats at all or not in a RU-vid comment...you might want to check his channel first to see if he indeed has any videos on there of him squatting.
You have a talent for putting words into my mouth. I said nothing of squatting and bench pressing, you did. I said nothing of bodybuilders being the epitome of physical conditioning, you did. I merely said that your "theory" does not apply to everyone. If someone can squat 1000 lbs. but cant run a mile, would you say his leg muscles are in shit state? He might be an obese pig, but a strong obese pig. Different priorities for different athletes, but i wouldn't call him weak.
im only 22 so no, not 30 yrs lol. it is harsh on my calves though. ive never ran barefoot, ive never been much of a runner at all until i joined the Marines 2 years ago. I have the bikilas too. I really like em i just wish I could get right into a 3 mile run/jog. Ive only done a 1 and 1 1/2 mile jog(slow pace).
well.. u know the differnce after walking onto stuff like... dog-poo, naked snails, sharp stones, maybe glass.... i would prefer a soft shoe over barefoot in any of these cases
Of course, it doesn't mean that everyone should. :-)) To some, the main physical concern is having well-sized belly for good overall consumption abilities - those folks will sneer at both barefoot running and squatting. Anyway, all aside, barefoot running when compared to running in shoes is natural movement, when all muscles are used in right proportions. That's how human body is designed. If someone finds it hard - then, yeah, the legs are in shit state, unless u have different benchmark
Excellent question. If you are doing something that you enjoy doing and it feels good and isnt hurting anyone then when people laugh you extend your hand making a fist with your middle finger, usually the longest one, fully extended upwards.
It's not "theory", it's a reality, a fact (whatever you like most). It's all about getting from point A to point B. You might say that using a car is the most efficient way, then I'd say that using a crane is the most efficient way to lift weights
You put those words to your mouth by yourself, when trying to make fun of the idea of strengthening "someone's toes" and "pinky weights". This video is about barefoot running as means to strengthen feet, - nothing more nothing else. It's not about strengthening feet for having "pumped-up" toes or an alternative to weight training. Your first comment is totally out of the place. You might have put the same comment in "strengthen your teeth" video. Clear now ?
I'm sorry - I usually don't get involved in internet debates because they are pointless, but I have to comment. It's been scientifically proven that injuries are less common in barefoot runners vs traditional runners. It wont let me post the link but look at "barefoot vs shoe running harvard injuries" it should be the third link down.
i never said how much i was squatted in my video...i merely said i posted a video of me squatting when you said "the chance of you EVER squatting is real low". Im not using my video as a platform to boast about my incredible (note: sarcasm) 225 lb. front squat. You said i didnt squat, i told you i have proof, and now you are acting like a child saying you dont care. If you are gonna spew bullshit, dont try to retract your statement once i call you out on your bullshit.
These things really seem like overkill...i mean do we really need to strengthen our toes and shit now? Is that what exercise has become? Whats next? Pinky weights?
You are a typical RU-vid troll...you replied 3 times to my ONE comment. The last two being posted 14 hours after the first. Which shows that you were itching for me to give you some response after i didnt reply to the first in a timely fashion. Looking at your profile, you simultaneously have several arguments on RU-vid video's other than this one. You are even arguing with someone else on this very video!
i truly believe and am comfortable with the fact that somewhere in China there is a woman who can lift more than i ever will...Somewhere in Kenya there is some dirt poor starving, sickly man that will run faster and longer than you ever will. Whats your point? My statement about squatting was not about me boasting what i can lift, it was simply about the comparison you are trying to make in leg strength between runners and weightlifters. My point was simple: To each his own.
You don't really need no "scientific proof" for such obvious thing: the closer to the nature, the better. I cured overpronation with barefoot running, where all "hitech" shoes failed and only gave me knees and back pain.
gee, the shoe's freaking supposed to help you regain the sensory control in your foot so you don't get ankle problems and arch issues, to teach the right running technique for people who's foots have been trapped in comfy solid shoes for their entire lives...
"i truly believe and am comfortable with the fact that somewhere in China there is a woman who can lift more than i ever will." Good that you are OK with it, cause Chinese lifters give more reasons to watch their videos ;-)). My comparison is very simple. Regardless of how much a person lifts, if that person's legs cannot handle some running then that person's legs are in shit state.
u can, but I've yet to find a pair of "toeless" shoes that provides the same sure-footedness and comfort on forefoot strike that these do. Your foot simply doesn't slide in the shoe at all, even though your toes are wide and free to move and you have no tight shoelaces anywhere. I have "normal" 3mm zero drop shoes for everday use, but for sports, am yet to try anything better than the geek lookin 5figners
:-)) Your resilience is admirable. But, sorry to dissapoint you, I don't care and not the least interested in whether and how much you squat. When I want inspirational video I go to see Olympic weightlifting stuff. The video of someone who is advertising himself against my interest will not be even the last item on the list. As far as I'm concerned, whether you squat or not - to me it's the same.
Ironically, regardless of how much you "squat" or "benchpress" if your leg muscles begin to hurt from running barefoot, then your leg muscles are in shit state.
Hello people, I'm prosthetist The problem with these shoes is that you lack the stability in the ankle, and the support of the foot arch. X legs ache or are permanently programmed to use
If you dont want to look silly and you live near a coast with sand. You should go run there!!! Just over exhaust yourself! Running barefoot is great! But running barefoot in the sand is greater!
HAHAHA!!!!! You might need extra stability and support if you're some sort of disabled person, like some that cannot walk without leaning on a stick. Give me one single reason why I need "stability help" when my ankles are stable enough? Just one single reason ...
:-))) I told you that "the chance of you EVER squatting is real low". Now, your problem is that I am not interested at all in whether you squat and how much you squat if any. It's not my problem, it's YOUR problem. Otherwise, why would you keep on trying to make me see your video?
ironically, regardless of how long you can run barefoot without your leg muscles hurting, if you cant squat for shit then your leg muscles are in shit state. I said nothing about benchpress or squat tho. I was just talking about using Vibram's instead of regular shoes/sneakers regardless of the activity. So what the fuck are you talking about?
These will probably help flat feet. The muscles in you feet is what supports the arches. Most people thing an artificial sneaker sole with a hump helps flat feet when in reality cradling you foot weakens the muscles.
You said "if your leg muscles begin to hurt from running BAREFOOT, your leg muscles are in shit state", you were specific about BAREFOOT running. Dont change your words now buddy. You seem to be under the impression i have some burning desire to have you watch my video. Get a grip on yourself, im not begging you to watch it. You tried to demean me by saying that you doubted i squatted at all, and now you are ignoring the proof i have, and coming up with ridiculous reasons to justify ur ignorance
You are wrong and here is why: walking and running is MUCH more overall important function than heavy squatting :-) Besides, if you don't need to strengthen "your toes and shit" then don't it, who cares
:-)) Really? Yes, I said "if your leg muscles begin to hurt from running BAREFOOT, your leg muscles are in shit state" - that's right. So what ? I will say it again :-)) "You tried to demean me by saying that you doubted i squatted at all" - that's right. As far as I'm concerned, the chance of you ever squatting is real low. - I'm saying it once again. You have a proof? Are you serious? :-)) But you know what, it's beyond my concern ! HAHAHA!! Why should I be concerned with you more than I am?
