This type of hip-hop hasn't faded away or diminished at all. Its still at the forefront and won't ever stop or go away. The only place its not at is in the mainstream platform where abunch of bullshit gets recognized as real rap/hiphop when really its all just pop smashed in a blender with autotune and ad-libs. There are so many dope ass artists who can actually spit, real artists that have substance and tell stories and there lyrics have real meaning and emotion in them. Have you heard of Cost-Contra? I'm sure you have if your a real fan of hip-hop but if somehow you haven't bro go check out there freestyles. Holy shit they are fucking monster! Best MCs I have heard in a minute. Also checkout Locksmith, Oswin Benjamin and this dude named Poodieville. I've been listening to Poodieville for years and he doesn't get any recognition at all its fucking wild.
