I guess that's something to be proud of. Shame King, instead of being recognized as a great politician in his times, he was recognized as a vice-president to die in office, and the one to have a "gay relationship" with James Buchanan.

30th U.S. Vice-President Charles Gates Dawes (b. Aug. 27, 1865; d. April 23, 1951) was married to CARo DANA BLYmyer on January 24, 1889. They had two biological children, Rufus Fearing Dawes and Carolyn Dawes, plus two adopted children, DANA McCUTCHEoN and Virginia Dawes. The name BLYmyer is not related to the FAIRfield County, SC town of BLYtheWOOD. DANA McCUTCHEoN is not related to the McCUTcHEN at 324 S. VANderHORSt or "horseface" QBs--despite VAN B. FORE, which sounds like VAN BEFORE...

30th U.S. Vice-President Charles Gates Dawes (b. Aug. 27, 1865; d. April 23, 1951) should not be confused with U.S. Olympian Dominique Margaux DAWES (b. 1976 in Silver Spring, Maryland) despite her sharing a NOVEMBER 20 birthday with 47th and current Vice-President Joseph Robinette "Joe" Biden, Jr. (b. 1942). Dominique DAWES is also one of only three female American gymnasts, along with Muriel Grossfeld (not related to 044-26-0762) and Linda Metheny-MulviHILL, to compete in three Olympics.

Charles Dawes the Vice President, won the Nobel Peace Prize for the "Dawes Plan" to help Germany repay it's war debts (in private life Dawes was a banker). He also composed music, and one piece ended up being used in a popular tune (only a week or so after Dawes died in 1951) called "It's All in the Game".

Yes, William Rufus deVane King. Only Vice President (or President) to take the oath office off of Union soil. He was in Cuba being treated for an illness, came back to his home in Alabama a short while later and died before he could get up to Washington, D.C. R.I.P. Vice President King

Trivia: Nine presidents did not complete their elected terms of office. Eight died and one resigned. Nine vice presidents also did not complete their terms of office. Seven died and two resigned. Because there was no constitutional method for filling a vacancy in the office before the 25th Amendment, and given that eight other vice presidents succeeded to the presidency on the death of their predecessors, there have been an incredible number of years where this country had no vice president.
